My deposit of £1,500 was debited to my credit card on day 2 of my 20 day hire. No notice was given. After numerous emails following my hire finish a refund was not received until 30 after hire commenced.

The car hire was good, friendly staff, car clean. The deposit process is a nightmare, still waiting for a refund from 09/06 and it's 1st July. Green Motion's answer phone message is to spear to your card issuer!

We had to take an insurance on the car while we had already an insurance when we booked the car. We told the guy that we had already an insurance but he told us that we needed this insurance otherwise we can't get the car. It cost us €840,- extra!

Faultless in every way except the terrible location. Access from Bristol ariport is poor, made worse by the redevelopment work. No bus link or if there was then the signage is dreadful.

Pick up was speedy with a thorough examination of the vehicle by the GM team member. Return was similarly quick and refund of the deposit was sooner than I expected. Car wasn't in the best condition but it served the purpose.

As usual the experience was fine staff very friendly and helpful, only thing was the vehicle I was given had a lot of damage to it which was unexpected as I use Green Motion a lot and I haven't had a vehicle with this amount of damage before, but that won't affect me using Green Motion in the future.

Easy to book, hope collecting the car will be equally easy
Three issues: 1. Trek from Heathrow airport. Shuttle doesn't come regularly enough, once you factor in additional stops and the travel on both sides, it's quite time consuming. As soon as you're sitting there at Heathrow waiting for the shuttle, already tired from travel, you're thinking, damn I should have just paid more for the convenience of a closer car. 2. I got a parking charge which I successfully contested and had cancelled but I still had to pay GreenMotion £68 admin fee which is almost double the price of other rental providers (Enterprise is £35). The fine itself would have been £100. It's outrageous that the admin fee is approaching the cost of the fine. 3. My annual third party rental car insurance specifically does not cover GreenMotion which is both frustrating and dubious and basically forces you to take their pricey premium cover.

Answer: DON'T do it. They advertise low and sting you at the counter! Clerks hard sell additional insurance (they get a commission). In Glasgow, Scotland this last August, they tried to get me to pay $800 in insurance to cover a ten day rental that was about $35 a day! Many people have posted about scams where they charged unsuspecting customers for "damages" that were already on the car but the customer may not notice, like a tiny chip in the windshield or a small scratch on the door edge.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges. Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you. Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you. If this amount is still not available in your account after 30 days from the last day of your rental, please contact us at [email protected]. Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
