I placed an order for a couple NY pizzas and the shipment was significantly delayed resulting in the food being spoiled when it arrived. Goldbelly did offer a credit (which expired after 90 days) but would not offer a refund. While the shipping delay was not their fault I have had similar issues with two other food deliveries during covid and both of those companies were quick to provide a full refund. I won't be trying Goldbelly again until they improve their customer service and policies.
My BBQ from Mighty Quinn's was shipped on Thursday with a Friday ETA. No delivery on Friday and no updates from Goldbelly. UPS tracker moved the ETA Monday before 9 p.m. Package has been sitting in Louisville for 3 days, Minimum of four days in transit for BBQ, for highly inflated prices. Not allowed to cancel orders... read the fine print. But don't worry. No delay in them charging your card. Never again. NO THANKS. Premise sounded good but a fail.
We, in Ocala, FL, with friends, ordered Muffuletta sandwiches on the 'net' from Central Grocery in New Orleans, LA
Our order was processed Monday 10-25... the sandwiches were delivered 10-26 by 4:30 P.M. Wow!
The sandwiches were cold (packed in black ice) they were fresh, tasty and delightful. Great service from Central Grocery, goldbelly & UPS... we were impressed. Go... go... go... goldbelly
This service is joke- the reviews are stacked on their page. If you don't pay the $100 for early over night shipping you are NOT guaranteed your food in a timely manner. In fact they clearly state in the Q&A section they are not responsible for shipping. So here is company making money off these small restaurants, yet not being responsible for shipping. DO NOT fall for the free shipping! I ordered my food 3 weeks ahead of time, told it would be delivered by 8pm on Tuesday. It came at 7:30pm on Wed- not good for special events. Yes they offered to resend the food- at my cost for shipping. But why when the event past we already had 3 day old food- the experience was lost. Go direct, make it yourself or find a way to get a friend to send you what you want cause this place doesn't work
We ordered two Nashville Hot Chicken Family Meals for 8 from Big Shake's Hot Chicken, for delivery on Friday to be in time for a large family dinner on Saturday. Half of the order arrived as scheduled leaving me 11 pieces of Chicken, a small amount of green beans and an adequate amount of cornbread for 16 people costing me $239. The other half of the order arrived on Monday, completely thawed and starting to rot. I asked for a refund and was told that their "policy" does not allow for that. They did offer a credit for future orders or would resend the order for a future date, all unsatisfactory for me. I will say that the quality of the food was good, but at the cost the local super market fried chicken is much more affordable and close to as tasty.

I previously used Goldbelly on occasion to order food delivered as family gifts. The service is now deplorable and I advise do not even consider ordering. Recently ordered crabcakes - received shipping notification - pending delivery from Fedex changed to ‘no scheduled delivery available at this time'. Goldbelly customer service now refuses to credit my visa citing all sales final policy. This was not a sale because merchandise never arrived. I do not fault the vendor who shipped the item. Rotten food if it ever arrives is undesirable!

It sounds great and probably is when everything works smoothly BUT when there's an issue, expect slow, unhelpful customer service and a terrible no refund policy.
My frozen / perishable order was shipped 3 days *after* the delivery date estimate when I placed it (it's COVID, so fine), then has been stuck in UPS for 5 days. Goldbelly service doesn't offer phone support, will not contact UPS on your behalf, and despite demonstrating that they cannot reliably do the very thing you're paying a massive premium for, refuses to issue a refund.

I ordered the rainbow cake as a surprise for my daughter's 18th birthday. We were planning to have her party on a Saturday and it was supposed to arrive by Friday. I didn't get it on Friday, instead I got a melted mess late Monday afternoon. We didn't get to have her party because let's be honest what's a party without a cake so I had to reschedule it. I emailed them to let them know we weren't comfortable eating a melted cake that was obviously sitting somewhere in the heat with how melted it was. They told me they were not responsible for orders that are inedible due to shipping problems. Wow I thought that's not professional at all. Who sells food online but doesn't guarantee it to make it to its customers in an orderly time and in great condition? This place does. They won't refund me but instead offer a credit. I don't want a credit. You couldn't get it to me the first time in great condition so what makes you think I want to deal with this again. So buyers beware and have a back up plan because even though this website has great reviews it doesn't mean it will be great for you.

Okay. My first experience with gold belly didn't turn out so well, so I blasted them everywhere. They apologized and sent me a refund to use however I chose. I ordered tipsy ice cream.

The cake was enjoyed by them. Although they thought the pudding wasn't rich enough. They liked the 1st cake I sent them more.
There's no guarantee, so you buy it and you're stuck with it. I tried the service, got a cake that ended up in the trash. Awful. It had a strong medicine or chemical taste. I feel like it was bad. They offered a $15 off coupon, that's it. Nothing more from the extremely slow customer service and no follow up.

Answer: They aren't necessarily a scam, but very poor customer service policies. If anything goes wrong with your order, like it did with mine, they just blocked me from their Facebook page so I couldn't leave a review. It's just luck if your order arrives and looks as you would expect and if it doesn't you are out of luck. Just contact local bakeries or restaurants and have them deliver for you, no reason to pay Goldbelly and have a third party who cares nothing about your order throw it around in the back of their truck and deliver it trashed. Goldbelly is unscrupulous and a big risk of wasted money.
