Update: Ultimately Goldbelly refunded me but not without a few obnoxious weeks of back and forth. I'm not changing the rating or the review since it took way too much effort to get them to do the right thing. I also request Goldbelly not contact me any further.
White House Subs were supposed to be delivered with overnight tracking but didn't arrive for 48 hours after it was supposed to arrive. Customer service flippantly told me to kick rocks. That's who your doing business with if you order from them. Beware.
We were sent the wrong items in Christmas gift orders, essentially ruining the thought behind the gift. Complained to customer service and got a $15 coupon for a botched $250 order.

I ordered 3 pizzas from Tony's Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco through Goldbelly. My husband and I visited from North Carolina and absolutely loved their food. As a surprise for NYE/our wedding anniversary, I placed an order on 12/11 and selected 12/31 as a delivery date. I heard nothing on the order, but did see a shipping label was created on 12/23 and then assumed all was on track. On 12/30 at 6pm, I got an email from Goldbelly stating that the shipment would be delayed until 1/4 and that I had until 1/1 to cancel the order. It is completely unacceptable to notify a customer the day before expected delivery, not offer any sort of compensation, and only allow them 40 hours to cancel the order. The customer service is poor at best. I would absolutely not recommend using this company, especially if you are planning to have it delivered for a special occasion. This was my first and will be my last experience using Goldbelly.

It looks like the agent here was able to cancel and refund your order as requested, and we sent over a coupon code for a future order. We do apologize for the late notice here. This was due to the shop receiving a late delivery of packaging for this order. As orders are made to order, so sometimes things do come last minute that are out of our control. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
Customer service agent intentionally mislead me causing me to pay for an order but never receiving it and now after repeated attempts I do not receive a call back.

If I could I would give Goldbelly zero stars.
I ordered a Boston Cream Cake, paid for express delivery as it would spoil due to the custard if I used the free shipping option. The cake was to be delivered from a location that was 10miles from my house. Instead of shipping to my house- the cake was first sent to Kentucky (thousands of miles away) and then shipped back to my city... in all this instead of arriving the next day it arrived 4 days later. Cake was not refrigerated, the cover was ripped and the instructions on the cake said refrigerate up to 2 days. The occasion I ordered this for has come and gone.
Goldbelly insists that they want to re-ship the cake to me or give me a credit... credit for what? To use this horrible service again? Never. They refuse to give a refund.
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE ESPECIALLY FOR EXPRESS DELIVERY UNLESS YOU LIVE IN KENTUCKY- ALL THE EXPRESS DELIVERIES GO TO KENTUCKY FIRST REGARDLESS AS THEY USE UPS.

I ordered Buddy's pizza on November 28th. Picked out a shipping schedule for December 14th and its ETA was Dec 18th. It's Dec 23rd and the shipping tracking shows that there's no update with the tracking number since December 8th. It only showed that a label was created for the order. Goldbelly did not acknowledge that the order never shipped but instead they blamed it on the postal service being slow. Then I sent another e-mail to follow up, and to clarify that the order is not shown as moving through the postal system in the first place, they responded that they apologize that my order never arrived (? Umm it never shipped, that's why). Instead said they would "reship" it then a couple of days later they came back to me to say they were out of the cheese pizza I ordered. Umm. Cheese pizza is never out. I've ordered shipping directly from Buddy's before without a hitch, and this was the first year they've switched to a third party shipping company. Very disappointed in Goldbelly. Currently in a process of trying to get a refund.

Carousel Cakes will gouge you for $31 more than the price of the cake + $35 shipping. My friend loved the cake, but I'd have never purchased it for her under regular circumstances. 1
I had placed one order for cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery that seemed to arrive in decent condition, so I thought it would be safe to order a PieCaken as a Christmas gift. It was supposed to be delivered on a Friday, but wasn't delivered until the following Tuesday and it was a complete mess. Definitely not delivered in the condition you would want a gift delivered as/also not sure it would be safe to consume after sitting a truck for almost a week. Also, good luck contacting a human if you have an issue with something, it's not going to happen. I've left multiple messages, and I haven't received a call back. I won't purchase from Goldbelly again.
I ordered on 12/3. It's 12/21. No update, no answers, just that it's covid. The item has not shipped, and they're telling me nothing they can do. I scrambled then to order something else with a by Christmas delivery date. Once order was placed, the actual date was after Christmas. I immediately requested to cancel the order, and they said no way to do that. I would have never ordered if it said after Christmas. Bait and switch, dishonest, and downright unethical business practices. They are taking advantage of covid. I was such a loyal long-time customer. I am sure they don't care. So upset. It's not about the money for me. I hope I prevent others from being taken advantage of!
When you place your order, a confirmation will note an excessive lead time. Unless you want to spend an extra $25.00, shop another site. Customer service should be renamed "uncustomer service". Goldbelly is nothing more than a platform/middleman for these vendors. Do a quick internet search and buy direct-not from Goldbelly and save yourself money and headaches.
While I love the concept of Gold Belly, unfortunately I have only received damaged goods from them. Once was a huge order of L'Aduree macaroons, and another was a delicious smelling Buche de Noel Yuel log cake. Yes, its great to support these businesses during this pandemic, but unfortunately the goods come damaged. Oh well...
After ordering my husband's birthday dinner from goldbelly 3 weeks in advance, to be delived the day before his birthday I received an email the day of what was supposed to be the delivery day saying his birthday dinner woud not be delivered as promised, but would alledgedly arrive the next day (his birthday). Of course the food (fried chicken) is frozen but was informed it could be cooked, however the frozen sides cannot be eaten until defrosted. So, it's noon and the bithday celebration dinner from goldbelly still has not arrived. The whole experience leaves me with a sour taste and I deeply regret odering from them. So if you want to ruin someones birthday order from goldbelly, you won't be dissappointed!
Order a yule log from Sweeties and it was the smallest and ugliest cake I've ever seen, nothing near what was advertised. The cake did not survive shipping, it was a mess. There were minimal decorations; no leaves or poinsettias. My advice, go to a local bakery and save a fortune and enjoy a beautiful dessert.
Bought over $40 worth of bagels so I could enjoy a taste of "home" during this strange, kinda lonely holiday season. They arrived on time, but inedibly stale. I would estimate they are at least a week old.
When I contacted customer service, I was offered a generic $15 credit for a "future order" and have not received a response since. This is bait and switch and this company should no longer be operating if they can't honour their commitment to customers. All I want is a refund or a credit to cover the full cost. Bare minimum.

I ordered a Thanksgiving dinner. When the sides had not shipped by the day before Thanksgiving, I called. They confirmed it had not shipped and offered a refund. After not receiving the refund or a email about the refund, I emailed. I received a prompt respond that "my cancelation request" would be escalated to a senior team member, who would respond with 24 hours. After not hearing back, I followed-up 3 times over the next 10 days and received no response.
Shipping is challenging right now, and the restaurant was probably overwhelmed for Thanksgiving. Both are outside Goldbelly's control, but their response afterwards is 100% within their control. I shouldn't have to spend 30 minutes on the phone, send 4 emails, then dispute my credit card charge to receive a refund.
Lobsters arrived spoiled this summer. They agreed to a credit which was never applied to my account - it apparently went to the gift giver. Will not honor a new order since it's 100 days past not 90. They will not answer the phone or return an email. Maybe this is on me but I suggest avoiding. My personal feeling is that I had a ruined birthday dinner and significant aggravation. Worst gift ever.

I placed an order through Goldbelly on November 18th, 2020 for Kings Southern Side Dishes from Kings BBQ. This was a Thankgiving dinner for my Dad who lives alone and does not cook. He typically comes to spend Thanksgiving with me or one of my siblings. However due to COVID, he has not been able to travel so I had to make sure my Dad was able to eat a traditional Thanksgiving meal. I recieved a confirmtion that stated my order would Ship on Nov. 23rd and Esitmated Arrival on Tuesday, Nov 24th. I called my Dad to see if he received his order on Tuesday and he stated he did not. I contacted Goldbelly and they informed me that my order was never picked up and the earliest they could get it sent to my Dad was the following week. Needless to say I requested a refund and had to search for another company that could GRUD HUB my dad a dinner. I was not impressed with this company and will never us them again and definitly will not refer them to anyone.
Ordered pound cake for Thanksgiving. Site said order by this day and items will get to you before Thanksgiving. Plus they ship on Tuesday and thursday. I ordered last Wednesday thinking it would be shipped on thursday. WRONG. It was shipped today Tuesday. 6 days after I ordered. Will not order from this company again. You lost a customer.
I purchased two deli dinners from Liebman's Deil through Goldbelly. The meat was fatty and inedible. I asked for a replacement on the meat. At first, both Goldbelly and the Vendor, Liebman's, ignored me. Goldbelly did not answer the phone, and disconnected me several times. After a week, Goldbelly responded to my email by offering $15 off my next order and ignored my request for a replacement. After a month and a request to my credit card company to withdraw payment, I did get the replacements. The replacement meat still had fat, but it was better. I had a very tough time getting the relief requested in this purchase, and I am unsure if I would deal with Goldbelly again.

Answer: They aren't necessarily a scam, but very poor customer service policies. If anything goes wrong with your order, like it did with mine, they just blocked me from their Facebook page so I couldn't leave a review. It's just luck if your order arrives and looks as you would expect and if it doesn't you are out of luck. Just contact local bakeries or restaurants and have them deliver for you, no reason to pay Goldbelly and have a third party who cares nothing about your order throw it around in the back of their truck and deliver it trashed. Goldbelly is unscrupulous and a big risk of wasted money.
