Get a Room has a cute little charge they call a recovery fee. You don't really notice it until you've booked the hotel, made your credit card entry, and received a confirmation. THEN you see it! I thought I was booking through Trivago but apparently they utilize Get a Room.
I am satisfied with the eventual resolution of my concerns
Thank you
The address included the name of the hotel and "... reservations"
The room I booked was for special$108 per night x 3 nights single.
I paid roughly $142.00 in "fees and taxes". Which came up on the email.
They use the "accept" key as their excuse to blame the purchaser.
Judging by some of the other responders I am not alone.
I believe this site to be misleading and unconscionable and intend to flag through our consumer watch-dog.
Needed a room at the last minute, searched for one on line. Found Nashville Airport Inn & Suites and booking through Getaroom.com.
Once we arrived at the Inn, checked in, went to the room, opened the door and a real bad odor hit us in the face. Went to the front desk and asked for another room. They switched our room, went to it and it had a similar smell. Went into the bathroom and there was mold all in the seems of the tub and tub enclosure. Went back to front desk and they said we would have to call manager on Monday. Called Getaroom.com and they said we would not get our money back. I asked them don't they check out the motels they advertise. They said it's not there responsibility for what condition the motels are in.
Still fighting with the credit card company over this.
Please stay away from Nashville Airport Inn & Suites and Getaroom.com.
I booked a hotel room through these con artists and my card was charged the quoted rate. Upon checking out of the hotel, the actual bill was $230 less than what GetARoom had charged me. Think I even had a prayer of getting that money back? Of course not. Their "customer service" gave me the usual run-around, eventually offering me a paltry $78 credit. DO NOT USE under any circumstance.
When booking my dates I could have made a mistake which I realised after paying was wrong. I immediately sent an e-mail to rectify this. Due to time differences, I only got a reply the following day to cancel this booking and on doing so, I was informed that there will be no refund. I have two problems as the policy sent stated that I should have cancelled before 12:00 PM on 05/27/2019. I ONLY BOOKED ON 05/28/2019? I find this amusing/shocking! Then when I attempted to rebook, I was kicked out of the website when trying to go forward to November. This lead me to believe that my original date( which was shown as Arriving 25 June 2019 and Departure 26 June 2019) was not MY MISTAKE. Needless to say, I did NO booking. To your credit I must say that * did say that you will attempt to resolve this. I must say that my first impressions of your Company is not very pleasant and I still need to book accommodation for 3 weeks stay as this was my FIST booking on arrival. Awaiting in anticipation.

I am trying to cancel a reservation 1 month before and I was told I can't. Absolutely crazy calling my credit card.
Booked hotel and had an issue with service charges and spoke to a nice customer service person who resolved the charges to my satisfaction,
I booked a room for 2 nights at Hilton Suites at Markham via GetARoom.com. The room rate was Cdn143 a night. When I got the confirmation, I was told the tax and service charge for 2 nights was $138.58 which comes to 48%. I was not advised of this charge when I confirmed the booking. GetARoom claimed this info was at the bottom of the screen and I did not see it. GetARoom won't do anything about it. This is purposeful fleecing of the consumer. Do not book via GetARoom.com.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY OR GUEST RESERVATIONS, they manage to let you think you are booking direct with the hotel (they use the hotel name and the guestreservations in the web link) they quote attractive room rates and do not use their company branding other than the tiniest logo in the top header in hard to see text. Then once you've accepted the room, still thinking you're on the hotels own site, they take payment details and add on 45% in tax' in my case.
Having realised my mistake - although more a misrepresentation on their part, messaged immediately asking them to cancel and refund all my money or match the Booking.com price.
They Messaged back saying canceled at the cost of the booking, so no room and no money! Are third party may wavier the cancellation charge. This will take 7 days, the booking was for 2 days time!
Phone once saw this message waste of a call to the US from the UK! Got offered a 5% discount. She was unaware of the website Best Rate Guarantee.
Even though there website links to another company getaroom.com (even worse reviews than here) where this Best Rate Guarantee form is which when you click doesn't take you to any such form.
Will now be having to contacting the Hotel directly to see if i have a booking or not.
I had two problems. The first was a hidden fee, meaning I paid for two rooms at $75 each plus $60 extra. Unfortunately this is not disclosed, or perhaps is shown in very small print, before you book.
Second problem was timing. I booked a room around an hour before arrival, which has been possible with other sites. When I arrived at the hotel they didn't yet have the reservation. I spent the better part of an hour at the desk getting it sorted. Very painful. I dealt with a call center in India and there were multiple dropped calls plus lengthy holds.
At the end of the call the rep offered a 10% refund; I suggested that 20% might be a better offer. She said I should call back in 2 hours to speak with a supervisor. No way. I indicated I would give a poor review on social media in return for this experience. Next day I found an email contact in which the supervisor offered me a $50 refund. Very generous and I'm thankful for it. I won't do business with them again because it was so painful but I do appreciate the refund.
1. I called the hotel and they sent me to you. I didn't go through you. 2. When I wanted to revise my reservation, I had to cancel and reserve a room again, and the prices had gone up. 3. I had to go through two different people to do the revision, and the first one I spoke to was terribly unpleasant.
After this review, I was contacted by getaroom and they credited my account for the extra $100 I had paid.

Get a Room scams the unwary consumer by posting a look alike website to the hotel you wish to book. They then offer a reasonable rate and tack on an outrageous service fee ( approaching 50%)then cannily refuse cancellation siting policy when you realize they have deceived you. They will not disclose or itemize what the service fee is on the phone They pass the actual booking on to Priceline. This complaint board is loaded with customers who have all been deceived in this way. Besides being chagrined at being had by a shady company everyone should lodge complaints to The Texas consumer protection office in order to bring this to a halt.

Within an hour of booking with getaroom someone starting trying to make a lot of charges on the credit card I gave them. I know for sure it is getaroom using my stole card info because I never use that card.
The agent who booked our room booked us with the wrong room. We were supposed to have a jacuzzi tub in the room but there was none. When we asked for a refund GETAROOM said it was up to the hotel to give it to us. We were offered a measly 20% of our grand total. Both agents I spoke to said there was no supervisor available. My recommendation is to review the emailed confirmation to make sure everything is satisfactory. EDIT: GETAROOM has given us a refund for hotel room.
I called 15 minutes after booking to move reservation by one day. I was told I would have to cancel to make a change and it if cancelled I would lose my money. No refunds. I get it. It was clearly stated but when I clicked cancel, it suggested that if I needed to make a change that I call said number. I called and was informed that changes aren't possible. Why suggest it then?
*Update: after leaving a poor review I was contacted by customer service. Kerri/ Carrie/Keri was extremely kind. She explained they are an emerging company and continually making adjustments. She had called to help me make the initial changes I wanted but I did not get back to her in time. She instead offered me a 10% refund on my booking price for the inconvenience.
It was hard to find the hotel I was looking for. And there were no photos of the hotel to look at. I was only able to see one photo of each room available. No photos of the pool area or any whee else.
Booked a hotel room online through this website. Was quoted $124 + Tax. When I received the email a "Tax Recovery Charge and Service Fee" was attached $50.04. When I called hotel to ask when will I receive this refund I was told to contact website. This "Tax Recovery Charge and Service Fee" we pay is to pay this website any hotel occupancy tax or resort fees they may incur from the hotel! Not to mention they may retain as part of the compensation for their services based on location, and the amount of the hotel room. DO NOT USE THIS SITE -- TOTAL CUSTOMER RIPOFF!
They charge quite a bit more than if you book a reservation direct with a no cancellation ability. Rotten business ethics.

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.
Answer: Call 800-468-3578 but good luck. They are scammers
Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
