I wrote a bad review due to them not giving a refund for a medical emergency. They called me back immediately and refunded half my money and are getting in touch with the hotel to try to get the rest of my money refunded. Obviously sitejabber is read by the companies that are reviewed and they do not eant a bad review on this site.
When on a road trip and needing to last minute book a room, I asked Siri while driving to call Hilton, instead I mistakenly got connected to Getaroom.com. I booked the room, thinking it was Hilton. They were extremely deceptive in making my reservation because they acted like they were the hotel. It wasn't until I checked my email confirmation that I immediately realized I made a mistake no less than 15 minutes later. I got immediately back on the phone and called them right after. I asked for a refund since it was a mistake from less than 15 minutes ago. They said per their policy and the hotel's policy they can't refund me. I told them that is non sense because the hotel would honor the refund and I told them I would dispute the charge either way. I then called Hilton directly and booked a room directly through them and upon check in I told them I won't be checking into the third party room. I also sent an email to Getaroom and a few days later they said that they talked to the hotel and that the hotel agreed to refund them so they would refund me. I was like ok cool but they never refunded me the full amount of $168.56. To make matters worse i got a random charge a couple weeks ago of $8.43. I called customer service and they told me I have to email. I emailed three times and only got one agent sending me a copy of my bill for $168.56 when I booked the hotel a month ago. I responded asking for more of an explanation as to why my card keeps getting charged and they won't respond!

I think you are better if you can to book at the hotel all else equal. If you book with them, be careful what you commit to with your booking and also check what the service charges are. I have to say though they did resolve the issue eventually, but it took quite a few calls. That is why I give 3 stars. Thanks for that.
Hiking in mountains of NC with poor cell service. Got cell service for a moment and thought I was booking a room through Hilton.com, but I had been careless and gotten on a third party site. I didn't realize what a mistake I made until I got my credit card bill and saw recovery charges and service fees of 42% of the room rate. This is outrageous and a ripoff.

Don't waste your time with this website
Made a reservation and had to cancel with in a hour first they lied to me saying the hotel has a no cancelation policy then it took a hour to get them to get my money back but it will take 3 days

Did not tell us they were a 3rd party booking company. We were booking for a wedding and told them the hotel had special pricing for the wedding party, they said ok no problem. They did not give us the special rate in fact charged us more than the hotel was charging for a normal rate. They also made a additional reservation in our name without our permission. When we called to cancel the Woman that answered was OK but there were children and chickens making a racket in the background. And it took 20 minutes to cancel our reservations.
Any time I have cancelled reservations through many different company's it was relatively quick. Very shady

Searched for fights and got a quote then asked me
About hotels so I booked hotels. When I hit the button to chose my flight the price went up x 4. Obviously I didn't book the flights and the hotel reservations are about to get cancelled.
Definitely a scam. We thought we were booking a same day room for Redding, California directly with the well-known hotel chain. The confirmation came back for a room in Reading, Pennsylvania. Even though it was their obvious mistake, discovered within hours, they refused to cancel. Don't walk, run away from this company.

Almost immediately after i posted my review on sitejabber, the getaroom folks got in touch with me - they processed a partial refund and once that posts to my credit card, i'll update again
Got my partial refund so am a bit less unhappy - i would still say to steer clear of getaroom

Travel agent (decades of experience) was steered to this website when booking us a room at Embassy Suites in Napa Valley, California - after a couple of days with no record of the booking on the hotel website, I called Hilton (owner of Embassy Suites) and was given their reservation number - the amount paid to the hotel was a bit more than $300 for 2 nights (peculiar since I'd paid almost $600, but we'd requested a pet in room and knew that fee was $150). After we checked out, we got a charge receipt for the pet fee, on top of the large amount we'd paid. No help from getaroom yet on the discrepancy.
Booked a room a a "great price" until I got the confirmation and and discovered all the fees. I tried to cancel immediately and got the runaround. The agent would not let me speak to a supervisor. I would suggest that you do not use these people as there are so many legit websites that offer similar rates and no BS.

Had to cancel reservation due to COVID. Was told to cancel with hotel. After cancelling several days in advance, I was told there would be no refund from getaroom. After speaking with a customer service representative and explaining the situation, I was told I would be able to get a refund.

DO NOT USE! IN MY OPINION THIS IS A SCAM! 40% mark-up over contacting the hotel directly AND then they will not allow refund or cancellation! RIDICULOUS! THEY KEEP ALL OF THE MONEY - Don't even send it to the hotel if you cancel reservation. They will not provide you with a mailing address or any info about their company when requested.

Wife booked a hotel, was quoted $85/night. NO indication that these leeches were going to tack on a bogus $50 "taxes and fees" charge. When contacted, they said "you booked it" and refused to do anything reasonable. Yeah, that's a nice "markup" for basically doing NOTHING. From their reviews this is one company NEVER to do business with. I've booked with major sites many times, no "surprises". Never heard of these jokers, you do biz with them at your risk apparently. Confirmed with hotel that $85 rate is their regular rate... GetARoom refuses to refund the scam charges. AVOID THIS SITE!

We called *******732 under the impression we had called Hilton reservations. On the call we asked for Hilton and prefaced the call with our intent to use Hilton points; we had intended to book a trip with Hilton Honors points. The customer services representative introduced himself as working for "Guest Reservations." He NEVER indicated that he was representing getaroom.com. Call was placed on 7/19/20 at 19:23. When we asked if we could use our Hilton Honors points (again, under the impression that we were speaking with a representative of the Hilton), we were told, ON A RECORDED LINE, that the room did not qualify for the use of such points. It clearly didn't because we were booking through a 3rd party. When we arrived to the hotel, we were told that the reservation was made through a 3rd party (this was the first time we realized a 3rd party was involved). We had had no idea until then. The email confirmation that we were promised was never sent. The only way we even knew that the 3rd party was getaroom.com is because we called the number back that evening and asked for that info - it was reluctantly given to us by the representative with whom we speak at that time. So disappointing to be taken advantage of. To getaroom.com - you are dealing with fellow human beings, please be honest and transparent in your transactions. What a shame.

I made a reservation with what I thought was the hotel, only to discover when the charge came through that it was in US$. The Hotel, and I, are in Canada and the rate was quoted in CDN$. I immediately cancelled the reservation, but have received no refund, and NO help from the Company. This is a complete scam and criminal. But I have no recourse I do not believe.

I booked a standard room. Making sure that the man who I was on the phone with, made the room close to the lobby & everything was accessible for my handicap mom. We got here, checked in. Our room was on the 2nd floor pretty far down the hall. Also, nothing about it showed that it was handicap accessible. This was the last thing I wanted to deal with when I got to the hotel. I also feel bad for the staff! They had to do all of these extra things because Get A Room didn't do their part! It was very disappointing.

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
