My experience with Getaroom was very pleasant at a minimum. They were very accommodating when I needed to change the dates for my room reservation at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas recently and handled my request easily and professionally.
I made a reservation two months in advance - and they charged me the full amount. During my trip, my plans changed and I had to call them to figure out if I could get a refund. Only the hotel could approve the refund, so I had to call the hotel, get the name and number of the person approving the refund, then call getaroom.com back with that info. They put me on hold and called the hotel and spoke with that person in order to approve it. Then they put me on hold to process the refund. The whole process took 45 mins to an hour, on international calling. Once approved, the agent couldn't give me a total amount of the refund, only by day (for a 5 night refund). Like I have a calculator to sit there and add up all the different amounts.
One week after the refund was approved, I still haven't received anything. I called them back and the agent was rude, telling me it would take 3-5 days for the refund to process. I explained it had been 7 days. And he corrected me, that he had said business days. I told him he had not said "business" days, and he corrected me again, saying that he had. Guess their business model is to tell the customer they are wrong. Finally got the info I was looking for, the total amount of the refund. Compared to the hotel receipt I received, and it looks like getaroom.com made around $370 for booking through them - AND you don't get the hotel points if you are a member.
Their customer service is abhorrent. Their business practices - having the customer call the hotel and request approval of a refund, then have the customer provide the name of the agent who approved the refund, then calling to confirm, is just stupid. Why not just call while the customer is on hold and seek approval for the refund.
I will NEVER, EVER use them again, and I regret using them for this transaction.

They have the most frustrating and disgusting practices. They are unprofessional, have no supervisors or managers to talk to and will not make ANY changes to your reservation, UNLESS YOU CANCEL AND THEN YOU WON'T GET YOUR MONEY BACK. My reservation is a month away and they can't change it?!? So shady, so frustrating. I didn't even know I was booking through them. The hotel directed me to their site and it was a huge mistake. BEWARE!

I have contacted Get a room and after much explaining I was able to resolve my issues and why I felt that I should receive the full refund on my reservation. They did refund the full purchase price and I am thankful for that. I should not have had to go to the lengths that I did but in the end it was worth it because I did receive my payment returned. Thank you to get a room customer complaint department for their considerate assistance and the prompt return reservation money.

NO STARS! Here I thought I was using the hotels website, but these sneaky, dishonest, leaches from outside of the USA just love to take advantage of American citizens by tricking them. You people disgust me. My actual bill from the hotel was $495.63 only to be charged $726.27 by a "third party." Surprise! That's an increase of $230.64 for doing NOTHING! "Tax Recovery & Service Fees" is just a bunch of mumbo jumbo ambiguous way of ripping people off. I can see maybe a small service fee but, 46.5% INCREASE is outrageous. Real nice business model that the way you make a living is by ripping people off. Hope it was worth your soul.
And yeah I have proof of purchase, but do you seriously think I'm going to put my personal info on here for you crooks to steal? Fool me once, shame on me. You won't fool me twice.

Site simply books your reservation with the hotel adds $50 US to cost as fee and sets a zero refund policy. NEVER use GetARoom.Com to book anything. Share this with all your friends.

Not clear on whether they successfully added another night onto my already booked dates.
I went to the Hilton web site and was unknowingly redirected to this site. Thinking it was Hilton, I booked a room. I realized immediately (too late!)that it was NOT Hilton. I called back to cancel…they canceled and issued a credit (May 28,2022)…almost 2 weeks later I am still waiting. I was billed immediately and had to wait until after the date of my reservation departure for a refund. Still waiting. In addition to that, the charges were significantly higher than booking directly from Hilton. I am not recommending this company and am very disappointed.

Does not make it obvious that you are booking non-refundable, then will not give refund even if you cancel within 24 hours. Do not trust this company, they are scam artists.

If you change a date on a hotel. It canceled whole reservation. So if your hotel is booked. You can't rebook. This is a hoax company. Who can't drop one night off of a hotel two weeks before. Without losing whole reservation. Priceline is there parent company. It took almost two hours to get a human who could even cancel

I confirmed the price for 1 room for 2 nights and was charged for 2 rooms for 2 nights. Getaroom double charged me and told me this was my fault. They refused to refund me. After a lengthy phone call where they refused to give me my $400 overcharge back. The incompetent and rude customer service person I was speaking with named Jen, hung up on me. I have to dispute this with my bank now. A huge headache. Do not ever give this company access to you bank account, they will take whatever amount of money out that they would like. They also pose as the hotels they are actually a 3rd party for to deceive people. This is a fraudulent company that deserves worse than their already terrible D+ rating with the BBB. The hotel also only had 1 room booked for me, not 2. Absolutely stunning they are still in "business."

The hotel basically had to create a reservation, because this site didn't follow through and confrim that the hotel had the reservation set.

AFTER BOOKING A $229.00 HOTEL FOR 1 NITE, A $90.93 CHARGE WAS ADDED TO MY BILL FOR (Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees)

After I posted this review I was contacted by Getaroom Customer Care, they decided to refund a reasonable amount of my extra charges. I'm happy with that decision but I should not have had to go through that process at all. I am updating my review to 2 stars for the customer care prompt response.

I was charged a 38 - 39% service charge to book a room. Their web sites are deceiving and false. My mistake for not reading the fine print, however I travel extensively and will NEVER work with this shady outfit again. $250 to press a button or two. OUTRAGEOUS.

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
