This website's refund policy is unacceptable. We booked a hotel reservation on Sun, Aug 7,2022 at 9:52 PM, check-in on August 17. This was paid in full in the amount of $1,024.63. On Mon, Aug 8,2022 at 8:33 AM, the next morning less than 12 hours later, plans had changed and I called this company to cancel the reservation.
After runaround I was transferred, and the next agent said that there are no refunds. We could cancel, but would lose the entire price of $1,024.63. The charge has not even settled on the credit card yet, which I assume they do so that chargeback cannot be initiated, since the refund policy is unacceptable.
Update - The company contacted me and offered a resolution as follows:
"As a one time courtesy, a gesture of goodwill, we will be issuing a full refund in the amount of US$1,024.63 back to the original form of payment. Your refund will be processed by our Credits Adjuster. At that time, you will receive an email confirming your refund has been sent and the refund time frame. Refunds typically take 3-5 business days to post back to your account."

Update: a full refund was issued shortly after this complaint was made on this site for the reservation that was not used. Unfortunately, the customer service number provided could not resolve the issue until I complained publicly.
On July 23rd, I made a reservation on the website I had presumed to be Hampton Hotels from a search I used on my smartphone. I was misled by the website that masqueraded as Hampton and predatorily sold me a room that was non-refundable. The non-refundable room rate was not presented with the displayed rate or anywhere above the "button" marked "complete reservation >>." When filling out the reservation form, the button leads one to believe the review screen is upcoming, but by continuing, one is submitting the credit card information. The confirmation page was displayed instead of a review, with an alarmingly higher total cost due to the service fee and taxes of $113.94, added to the room rate of $229.01. I immediately canceled the reservation and received a cancellation confirmation. My credit card was charged $342.95 for reservation R *******597 Hampton Inn, Indianapolis Airport 8/04/22 to 8/05/22. The company refused to refund the charge by telling me I had purchased a nonrefundable room that was fully disclosed. I cry foul. It was not clearly marked if it was mentioned. I also canceled within a minute of making the reservation and received a cancellation confirmation as such but not a refund.

Getaroom took my money but didn't book the room! I filed a issue through the confirmation email and have not heard back. A total and complete scam.

Disguising themselves as Hilton, we made a reservation for 1 night for $177. Credit card was charged $259.52. That's $87.52 for fees? Was not told of this charge prior to receiving the receipt via email. Called to cancel reservation and was told it is non refundable, but we could still cancel the reservation. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY... BAIT AND SWITCH,

I never take the time to write negative reviews but have to this time. I was going through to book a room and when I got to the final steps noticed there was over a 50% increase in price and went to cancel. My bank sent me a text obviously noting some questionable activity with this site. I did not pursue but somehow got charged. I reached out and there was no acknowledgement of wrong doing. I never authorized the payment. No actions taken to investigate where a mistake was made. Stay away from getaroom. There is no interest in customer service just taking customers money. Very upsetting.

Awful experience with people are trained to not tell the truth. Mistakenly made a reservation and after five calls and over an hour on old, we have no resolution. I filed a complaint with my credit card company and emailed the company directly. I also called the hotel and they offered to refund the money and cancel the reservation, but said the GETAROOM representative would need to call.

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
