I was double charged for my room once by GetARoom (at a more expensive rate) and also by the hotel! I am still dealing with this issue and have not gotten my money back. The hotel and GetARoom both blaming each other!
I had to cancel my reservation because my car had broke down out of town, during a snow storm. So, I was stranded. I was told that I would get a full refund. I was given a cancellation number. I call a few days later because they hadn't given me my refund. They told me that I would NOT get a refund because it was a "low rate" and non-refundable. That I was taking a gamble by taking that room. I was told to call customer service. Which, I did. I couldn't get through. Kept telling me to contact the hotel directly. I finally, got a hold of getaroom customer service for them to put me on hold and told me that it was non-refundable and that I should have just used the reservation because I still have to pay for it. EVEN THOUGH, I had given them my cancel conformation code but because the lady I first talked to didn't give me a name, I was out of luck. Would not recommend, unless you want to lose out on money.
Me and my husband just needed a relaxing night away and picked this hotel because of the jetted tub we will for sure be coming back
After many phone calls to GetaRoom and a barrage of complaints filed, I heard from one of their supervisors. She said she had listened to the string of recorded calls I made and agreed the company was at fault and wanted to make it right. They guaranteed the hotel booking I kept would have a free guarantee( the original booking agent told me it did but it turned out to be non refundable)and she also give me a $50 credit for my troubles. She followed through with this but I'd be afraid to book with them again after this experience. I kept one of their hotel bookings but only after I called the hotel in Italy to be sure they actually could confirm my booking and guarantee me a twin bedded room. GetaRoom couldn't guarantee this, although the agent said he'd send in a request. The supervisor was very accommodating but the booking agents can be unreliable. I'd be more careful about booking on new websites after this experience. I thought it was recommended by Trip Advisor because they linked me to GetaRoom. It's all about advertising. Bookers beware.Do your homework.
On Jan. 9th I called your getaroom phone number and booked two of your listed hotels with an agent. Unfortunately, he gave me incorrect and misleading information about my booking. He told me both of my hotels had guaranteed cancelation available and that he would put a HOLD on my two reservations until today when I finalized my airline tickets. Also he said my request for twin bedded rooms would be possible and shown on my confirmed bookings. All of the above was incorrect. When I received my confirmation, he had put "paid in full" for both hotels for me instead of putting them on hold. Also, one of the hotels, the Hotel Porta Felice was NON REFUNDABLE. I WOULD NEVER HAVE BOOKED A HOTEL WITHOUT THE CANCELATION OPTION. I called back your number, got a different agent who told me your company DOESN'T PUT HOLDS, TAKES YOUR MONEY IMMEDIATELY ON THE CREDIT CARD, CAN'T GUARANTEE TWIN BEDDED ROOMS. THE LIST GOES ON! I am very upset about the above and want to know what your company is going to do about it for me.
I intend to take up this matter with Trip Advisor, since they recommended your company. I want the Hotel Porta Felice to be changed to NON REFUNDABLE STATUS, since I made this booking under false information.
After being overbooked for my 3 star hotel I was rebooked into a 2 star, for the same price. My letter to the manager I spoke to will give you an idea of my thoughts about this business.
Giorgio,
I just got your message and want to tell you what a pathetically poor response this is. I booked at a Hilton, your company screwed up, and therefore I had to move to a lesser place, through no fault of my own and your company cant compensate me. Its as if I went to a restaurant, ordered a steak and paid for it and the waiter brought out a hamburger. The only difference is that the restaurant would not charge me the same for an inferior product, which is exactly what you are doing.
I was waiting to write my review of your business on Yelp and TripAdvisor, but I think after this response I know all I need to know. I will also be sharing this with anyone else who will listen, including the Better Business Bureau and whoever else I can think of.
What you did is considered a bait and switch, offering a hotel at a higher place and when no other options were available you got me a room at an inferior hotel for the same cost knowing I would have to accept it. I hope your sham of a company appreciates the severity of your actions. Also might I recommend your staff gets some training in the area of customer service, because you certainly have one very unhappy and unimpressed customer in me. I can guarantee I will never use your company again in the future. I suppose the only good thing to take from this is If this is how you deal with customers I wont have to worry about this for long because your company will be obsolete.
You could hear EVERYTHING the neighbors were doing... including making whoopy at 2:30am. Very distressing if you're trying to rest up before an early funeral. Pretty expensive for what you actually get.
The staff was excellent the rooms was clean. Great location. Didn't stay long enough to have a meal but the decor of the restaurant was beautiful.
I had a smooth time booking, but to give a true rating I need to wait until I have completed my trip. I did a trip a few years ago using a different site and I paid for a room and got no room. So I would like to give another review after my trip. But as far as this booking I was very pleased
Excellent. Very personable, and extremely helpful with booking. Would definitely recommend, use service again in the future
Title says it all. Everything booked in three minutes at the lowest price available. Easy site to navigate and good hotel descriptions.
I just wanted to change dates and it turned out I needed to totally rebook and the cancel existing reservation. Everyone I spoke with was pleasant but this took a long time and 3 people. I would voluntarily use this service again.
Same as the title. Booking was easy and price was right, but I can't give a better score until we stay at the hotel.
I had to add a name to my room reservation, and doing that took way too long; over fifteen minutes. Then, when I tried to verify that that had been done, I was told I did not have a reservation; resolving that took over thirty minutes of on-hold time. That situation is beyond pathetic.
Stayed here many times. Always clean and great service. Great breakfast too and even has a Starbucks!
Great service, no hiccups or nonsense. Fast easy and coviniant. Compared prices with other websites and got the best price. Will definitely use it again.
I arrived in Las Vegas at 7 oclock in the morning for business and as I made my way to the hotel I had booked reservations for one weeks prior. When I arrived it was a freak rainstorm and I had my family with me along with an infant. At the time the CES convention was going on and prices of rooms more than doubled, when I want to check in I was told my reservation was canceled and it wasnt their problem.
The room was relatively inexpensive and had a high rating. It was definitely not the lap of luxury, but was very well cleaned and offered a nice place to rest. The breakfast just that. Coffee, tea and other miscellaneous quick snack type foods. Did not use the pool because I didnt have time. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.
I had booked a room at a Wyndham through get a room, when I got to the hotel they couldnt find out reservation. After making some calls they were able to find it but they said they didnt offer rooms at the price we got it at. So we had to pay an additional $55 for our room.
A lots of site or app only take visacard, mastercard or amer-express card, good to have a site or app to let me paid with discover card
We got a great deal on a hotel through this site, we are excited to get to our vacation date. Hopefully its as great as it seemed :) the process was easy and also had to make a call to customer service and they were very helpful as well.
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.
Answer: Call 800-468-3578 but good luck. They are scammers
Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
