GetARoom is a SCAM! I called them, thinking they were the Omni hotel due to links they have to deceive customers. I was told on the phone that they were the Omni hotel after I said I only want to book directly through Omni hotel because I am a select rewards member and books provide me with points. They said "Oh yes, we have your Select Rewards number and will apply the booking." Another lie! After I booked the room they again confirmed they were the Omni hotel but that the invoice would go through a third party. I should not have believed them, but I was not expecting such blatant lies. When I did uncover the deception I was told I would receive a refund. Now they say the booking is non-refundable so no refund even though the Omni hotel waved its non-refundable policy on the booking. I am now fighting with GetARoom. SCAM artists, so BEWARE!
If others have been defrauded as well, let me know.
I was looking for a hotel near the airport in Milan, Italy. When I found one I liked booking it online with this app was a piece of cake.
Reserved a room from one large travel site, to getaroom.com. Free cancellation available! I reserved on the 13th, FREE cancellation until the 14th. HOWEVER, better cancel that BEFORE NOON or there is no free cancellation. Have to read the fine print in order to know you have to call by noon. The room was booked wrong, 4 people instead of the 6, which my room will not accommodate. Several calls to getaroom were no help.
Great customer service! The representative went over and above and I am very grateful! I would definitely use this service again.
I had no idea I was on a 3rd party site instead of Marriott. I don't appreciate that.
The information given was difficult to understand and the answers to my questions were quite uncertain. I doubted that I was getting the resquested suite with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, later confirmed to be incorrect by Marriott.
Room very nice, breakfast meh. Now for the obligatory 100 characters. Now for the obligatory 100 characters.
Reservations were made smoothly, reserved 2 rooms and called back the next day for another room. Thank you.
I did not select GetARoom but was sent there by tripadvisor. There are a few critical things a service like GetARoom needs to itemize in a hotel confirmation: hotel name and address, room type, meals included, parking availability. The confirmation only gave me the hotel name, address and room type. Nothing about breakfast included. Nothing about parking, though both were listed when I clicked reserve on tripadvisor. Not acceptable.
Not sure how I got to GetARoom site, but I was pleased with the ease of booking the room (at a rate lower than the hotel's website offered!), receiving a confirmation within minutes and with the option of cancelling should plans get scuttled. If all goes well, will keep the site for future bookings
Was directed to their website through Best Western's online reservation service. Booked the room without a problem but the GetARoom receipt did not include a breakdown of the taxes. I called GetARoom's customer service line to request this information and was told it was not available. Anyone who has expensed a hotel in Canada knows a tax breakdown is a REQUIREMENT on all receipts. This is especially important when your client is a government agency and this information has to be reported.
When I spoke to our accountants about this, they said there was nothing we could do and we would have to absorb this cost.
My recommendation to traveling business people is to avoid using GetARoom's service and deal directly with the hotel.
I got the lowest price available and several choices in room accommodation that nobody else offered.
It took 4 minuets and I got the lowest rate available anywhere from any site! I will use this site and none other from now on!
Had to phone in to get the preferred rate. Rep was cordial and posed no issues to complete the transaction and we now are looking forward to our travel date.
When we got to the Hotel to check in, they didn't have the room we were suppose to have with 2 queen size beds. When we checked out, they didn't have a receipt bill, they said we'd have to get it from you. Just didn't feel comfortable with the experience at all.
Quoted a price of $159 per night for 2 nights in Atlanta which I was fine with. They charged my CC while I was on the phone with them without quoting the TOTAL price. The email revealed that they added an additional $169 for "Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees". I told them to cancel the reservation and credit the transaction which they refused. I had to put a stop on my CC card. Called the Hotel direct and got a better rate.
Because of a family emergency I had to cancel my trip but could not until 4 PM on the day of the cut off (which was at 10 AM). They charged me $500 for this. I also wanted to rebook for a later date but they would not allow it and ended up charging me $500 for the cancellation. The woman I spoke with was so rude throughout the conversation and I knew from the beginning they were not going to be helpful or understanding.
I was looking for the best price for an all-inclusive property in Mexico for a week long trip. The best rate (by FAR) was on the Tripadvisor site using getaroom. For the room type we wanted, the rate was a full $1000 cheaper than anywhere else. I was nervous because when something seems too good to be true, it usually is. I crossed my fingers and booked. My credit card was charged for the full cost immediately (which was clear at the time of booking) and an email confirmation was sent. I then read some reviews and got nervous again but everything seemed legit in the booking (which showed up on my Tripadvisor profile).
Bottom line... everything was exactly as promised. We got the room style that we booked, no hassle at check-in. We had a wonderful vacation and saved a ton of money. I would definitely use them again.
As with any third party site, it is VERY important to read the cancellation policies carefully and take them literally. They will not change because you have a bad luck circumstance. In our case, we fortunately didn't need to test the full cancellation promise.
Nice hotel. Awesome staff. However I am a young adult who was looking forward to the bar they said they had and come to find out there was no bar? Just lemonade? Would have planned differently if I knew differently.
Very good experience, quick and easy, very smooth transaction. They helped me to save some $$
I Will definitely use them again.
I had a good experience with the operator she found what I needed and she was very nice and my friend tell me that the place is nice I have not gone on my trip so I hope that it turn out good..
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.
Answer: Call 800-468-3578 but good luck. They are scammers
Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
