Exploretrip sucks
March 16, 2020

Had to cancel a flight due to the country closing it's borders to international travel. Won't even help in getting or honoring a refund. Will never ever use this company again!

Here's a short summary of all the reviews you'll probably read about exploretrip.

Booked a trip.
Coronavirus.
Attempt to cancel.
Exploretrip doesn't honor the full refund amount despite airlines saying they will.

Next time will buy directly through airline or the flight insurance if it is cost effective when compared.

Scammers
March 8, 2020

Booked a flight from Toronto to Delhi through Guangzhou for May 5th, 2020 on China Southern. CS issued a statement about full ticket refunds for anyone coming out of Canada through China because of the virus. Explore Trip tried to tell me that because it was "just a layover" it didn't count towards the policy and continually hung up on me whenever I would try to call them. My boyfriend managed to call and get a refund of $379 ($130 short) as the company kept on insisting the "taxes and fees" were non-refundable And/or it was a "special ticket price" even though China Southern issued a policy on FULL refunds. I have since then kept on calling and being told different stories and then being put on hold for long periods of time in which they then hang up on me. I will continue to argue with them until I get somewhere. Don't waste your time and money with these scammers. Plus they are super rude whenever you actually talk to them.

I've booked two adult round-way tickets between Montreal and Istanbul on March 4th (yesterday) at 14:38 pm EST (GMT-5). After 20 hours and 12 minutes from my booking (which corresponds to March 5th 10:50 am EST), I found lower price for exactly the same flight, on exactly same dates and conditions on ExploreTrip.com. I called the customer service at 10:51 am EST to request the difference between the price that I booked my ticket and the price now that I am seeing. But, their customer service declined to listen my request and said exactly "We don't have a price guarantee for price drop within 24 hours of booking with ExploreTrip.com". In their website, they claim that "In case, you find a lower price for the same date and time of travel and for the identical itinerary, we'll either cancel your current itinerary and provide you a full refund, or refund you the entire difference in price within 24 hours of booking with ExploreTrip.com." I sent them all the documents that prove my condition. But, they tried to trick me to give up on my request.

This is the WORST travel company that I've experienced.

I purchased the ticket with insurance fee so I can change the date. I had to move the date but no luck. I called multiple times and every time agent put me on hold and never came back.

Their customer service pretty much doesn't exist. Hours of waiting times, the call gets disconnected. It's your worst nightmare when it comes to dealing with your vacation.

I've learned my lesson that it's better to pay 100-300 dollars more and have someone on the other side to talk to if you need assistance with anything.

Also, tons of hidden fees, terrible policies just don't get close to this company.

Scammers
February 22, 2020

Scummy company. Flight was automatically cancelled without them telling me. I called to ask about the status because of the corona virus and that is how I found out. They said they were issuing refunds minus the taxes. Scammers because airline is offering full refunds. I asked who is taking taxes if the flight was canceled by the airline and not happening? Nasty rude agent from India had no clue and made up some lie about everyone trying to make up for losses. My flight was 400 and they took 120 in taxes after originally taking 160, but then claiming they would give me 40 extra back to help their customer. Yea some help you still scammed me for 120. Essentially what he meant is explore trip is going to make money off of this if there is a flight or not. Never book with this company. Nasty agents, scam company.

I gave too many stars!
February 19, 2020

The worst experience I ever had. Eastern China Airlines cancelled my ticket because of Corona virus, and promise everyone full refund. However, explore trip that I booked this ticket through told me that I can get back only ticket price without fees and taxes. It comes up to 50 of the price I paid for. Of course, I did not even received money yet, and nobody is answering the phone. Guys lets take them to the court!

I wish I could give 0 Stars. This company is a classic example of bait and switch. They will sell you an appealing flight and price, and then try to change the price or flight times. This company costs me hundreds of dollars because they flat out lied about the flight times that were sold to me. I verified with the airline that the flight times did NOT exist and there were no changes, this is a horrible business. AVOID!

Worst Service Ever
February 7, 2020

You will never be able to talk to anyone to get your problem resolved. Bunch of people at the call centre puts people on hold forever. Eventually, they will wait for you to hangup. Worst SERVICE EVER. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY NEED TO HAVE MORE PROFESSIONAL STAFFS.

THE WORST company
February 5, 2020

For some reason, I received an email saying that my credit card was declined and they weren't able to book my flight. I called to the credit card decline team right away, but they hung up my call after I was on hold for an hour. Because the email said NOT TO BOOK ANOTHER RESERVATION, I cannot even purchase another ticket and I'm currently sitting on hold for over an hour. They are not even responding to my email.
Honestly at this point, I don't know what I should do.
I made a call to the customer service, but all they say is to contact the credit card team and they cannot even cancel my booking because apparently my ticket is "ON HOLD" while their email says "Please be advised that fares are not guaranteed until ticketed".
This is the worst experience I've had with making a flight reservation, and I'm NEVER booking with this company again.

No Help
February 5, 2020

Experiencing the same issues as most of the one star reviewers. Was not notified of flight cancellations, I had to get in contact with the airline directly. I can't get ahold of any customer service representatives, by email or phone call. Was placed on hold multiple times, and waited over 2 hours each time, still no answer. If you are able to receive any actual help from this website, go buy yourself a lottery ticket, because you're one lucky duck!

Air China is issuing full refunds for all flights booked within the next year, and ExploreTrip is NOT honoring this. Don't believe them when they say that the refund is only for tickets departing on or before 2020.

Not Giving Money Back
February 1, 2020

I want to cancel the flight due to Coronavirus and agent saying they will deduct CAD$200 per ticket(i bought 2 tickets). But when I asked airlines they told me, I am eligible for a full refund. Again, I called them now they are saying Airlines will not pay Tax and other fees and that's why they deducting money. I thin they are lying since I checked the tax and other fee amount and it's more than $200. This agency making money from this virus outbreak which is really disgusting.

This was my first time booking with ExploreTrip and I was definitely weary from all the reviews. However, when I booked my trip, the customer service was very quick with responding to my inquiry about making sure my ticket was confirmed with the airline. I've had bad luck with that in the past with other booking sites. But due to the Coronavirus, we had to cancel our booking. I was on hold for quite some time, but totally understandable due to the crazy amount of cancellations due to the virus. Being on hold was better than the busy signal from China Eastern Airlines. My boyfriend was able to get them on the first try a week before the outbreak. I eventually got Roney on the phone and he helped me and my boyfriend get a 100% refund for our flights, no questions asked. I was worried that my money would gone from all these reviews, but ExploreTrip made it right and refunded us our money. I am overall happy with my experience and would consider booking again for future travel.

This travel agency is disgusting. I called Exploretrip to cancel a flight that the airline was offering full refund on, and an Exploretrip agent lied to me that the airline is only offering full refund for flights flying prior to March 2020, but since my flight is for April 2020, the flight is not eligible for full refund, he only offered me 60% refund. However I just got off the phone with the airline and they said that they do not have such restriction at all, and it's full refund for this flight! Exploretrip, you are such a deceitful and self-serving piece of trash. I will give the worst review on as many sites as possible and make sure Exploretrip pay for their disgusting business practice.
