Expedia Reviews Summary

Expedia's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and issues with booking accuracy. Many customers report difficulties in reaching live support, leading to frustrations over incorrect reservations, unexpected charges, and inadequate responses to cancellations. While some users appreciate the variety of options available through the platform, the overall sentiment reflects a lack of trust due to perceived unethical practices and inadequate support during critical situations. This feedback suggests a pressing need for Expedia to enhance its customer service responsiveness and transparency to rebuild consumer confidence.

No se deje engañar
March 15, 2018

2 o 3 puestos ES LA FORM DE HACER SU MARKETING PARA ATRAPAR CLIENTES. Me siento robada y atrapada pues no puedo hacer NADA

I booked a hotel with Expedia and was not informed of a $29 a night parking fee. It was not on the booking information or on my confirmation information dealing with room and total price. I called 4 times and was left on hold and was told by a supervisor I should have checked the hotel website. Needless to say I will never book with them again.

BEWARE
March 12, 2018

Do not use Expedia for booking a flight, hotel or car. I went in booked a bundle package and it popped up my flight I chose was sold out. I changed the flight. Hit to complete my booking and it gave me another error. I completely went out and back in and tried to book the complete package and it denied me again saying my information about my credit card was wrong. I reentered it. All of these transactions Expedia charged my card. Now try and get them to reverse the charges, spent around 4 hours and nothing resolved. I have traveled and never used Expedia, should have read the reviews. Now I have to wait to book until they release all of the charges. NEVER will I ever use this again!

Had a flight cancelled in January. I had to rent a car and drive 7 hours home. I have called numerous times to see where my refund is. Everytime I call I am on the phone for over an hour with no resolution. I am told they are trying to contact the airline. This is unacceptable and very frustrating. Poor customer service. I will never use Expedia again if I do not receive my refund.

They stole my money
February 27, 2018

After booking by mistake to that place i cancel within a minute and receive an email that confirm my cancellation without penalty, it was a lie and after 2 months i still did not receive my refund of 300$ and that is a lot of money, understand that i did cancel after 1 minute and receive confirmation of my cancellation but still Expedia kept the money pretending that they send me a refund and it's not true they never produce any proof even after 10 emails asking for a proof of refund they just stop answering me and never refund me, they keep the money

I never ever had a problem with hotels reservation in my life and Expedia as stole my money from me

The most despicable hotel management i have ever encountered in my life

Stay away it will be better for you Expedia cannot be trust with your credit card they just steal from their clients.

Just want to warn innocent travelers of dangers at this hotel. We came to collect our bullet ridden car after a Park, Sleep, Fly trip. Usually go to Sheraton but was fooled into thinking all Park, Sleep Fly hotels are good. A wild shootout occurred and the management and Carlson Co. Were apparently were not even surprised. Do not take families or any of your property there. Glad we did not experience crossfire.

We booked flights with Silver Air from Key West and latter we needed to cancel & the insurance cost us 40 dollars to cover us if we canceled and found out that expedia does not tell you that you will not get a refund lol what good is buying their insurance, very deceptive and really they just stole 40 dollars from us to cover for nothing but a sham... buyer beware expedia insurance is a scam and they should tell you upfront that you will not get any refund and state their scheme, i will send my experience to the FTC as well... sad company resorting to carnival tactics.

DO NOT USE EXPEDIA
February 23, 2018

I've been a customer since 2010, look at the history I traveled 5 times a year and book hotel through you, and today I was very disappointed from what happened. I made a reservation online for my next trip from lax to nice and I made the payment and I was charged on my card and then I get a message from expedia that it didn't go through, first I thought it's a problem with my card so i tried again, and I got the same message, so i called my bank and the money was already out of my account, i called customer service and i was told that was an error and the flight is not available anymore, and they can't do anything about, until now the same flight shows available on your website, that's is really disappointing, I'm going to take a legal action if you guys didn't solve this problem properly and find a way to compensate a loyal customer spends thousand of dollars every couple month to fly and book hotels through you. Useless Customer Service
February 22, 2018

I've been am Expedia customer since 2003 and booked countless amount of trips over the years. This time around I had rewards points that I wanted to apply to the price of the package. After spending 1.5 hours and being transferred to 5 different people I was told that there is nothing they can do since the hotel/airfare package doesn't qualify for the coupon. I asked them to apply the coupon to the car rental but they couldn't do that either because the coupon was for a package. Even though I asked them to convert the coupon back to the rewards points and convert the rewards points into the coupon for car rental they still refused to help. Overall terrible customers, clueless, robotic employees. Never again!

I was looking for a rental car for a recent vacation and since the company I normally use for work travel is on the pricey side I decided to go through Expedia to compare rental prices. They pointed me to a well-known car company whose quoted price was significantly lower than the others, so I booked through Expedia. I agreed to some add-ons when I got there, but the final receipt showed $125+ of charges I was never quoted and never agreed to. Contacted the company to try and resolve the issue and they contacted the car rental company, but was told that many of these fees were mandatory and there was nothing they could do. I asked the Expedia rep why these weren't quoted then as it would have changed my purchase decision. She referred me to their terms of service which says it's up to me to do that research myself. Nowhere close to the response I was looking for. Garbage service and garbage resolution.

Pure Disappointment
February 13, 2018

Expedia put together a package for me to Hawaii that had me flying into Kona and staying at Hilo, which is 1.5 hours away. There was no shuttles available between the airport and hotel so I had to pay an additional $600 USD to get from the airport and my hotel. Watch out for where Expedia flies you and where they put you up!

I used to book few flights and vacations with expedia.ca few years ago. Tried to do it again and had a very bad experience. I was looking for some flights to Europe for this summer. I managed to find some good deals for around $7000 for 4 tickets, went through the entire process of providing all details for all 4 members of my family, got to the final step providing my credit card and all of the sudden I got message the price has changed to $9500. I thought that was a bad luck and tried again with slightly different flights, and the same happened. What a scam. I went and booked my tickets with Lufthansa directly with no problem and the original price of ~$7000.

Stay away from Expedia. Unfortinatly Booking.com and other similar sites are pretty much the same, it looks like it is the best to go with hotels and air companies directly.

My wife booked our honeymoon travel to Thailand through Expedia. After the experience we had with Expedia I would never use them again. We found that once Expedia books your travel they abandon you if there are any problems.

We were booked on 3 legs for our flight to Thailand (New Orleans to JFK, JFK to Hong Kong & Hong Kong to Thailand). Our Jet Blue flight from New Orleans to JFK was delayed 4 hours due to a mechanical problem with the plane. Due to the delay we missed our connecting Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong. When we arrived at JFK all of the ticket counters were shut down for the night. My wife tried to contact Expedia by phone for assistance in rescheduling and after being on the phone for almost 2 hours they turned out to be completely unhelpful.

The biggest problem we had when trying to reschedule the flights and get boarding passes is that Bangkok Airways (our airline on the legs between Hong Kong and Thailand) was not in the same partnership as Cathay Pacific, American or Jet Blue. As a result it was difficult to get boarding passes all the way through to our destinations (both to and from Thailand). The ticket agents at the counters all commented that the tickets should not have been booked the way Expedia booked them. What should have been a great trip was quite frustrating.

Pros:
Ease of booking

Cons:
Terrible customer service
No assistance if there is a booking / ticketing problem

I dont expect Expedia to be responsible for the broken aircraft at the beginning of our trip however they also took no responsibility in the ticketing problems and gave absolutely no assistance in finding a solution. We were on our own. Avoid using Expedia in the future!

Expedia placed an additional charge of $23.37 for booking a hotel. This was not disclosed. I found the charge on a review of my credit card statement. Beware of Expedia. They will sneak extra charges on your credit card without telling you. Use another service to book your trips. As a business traveler I need a service I can trust without having to 2nd check all the charges.

As a small hotelier we are constantly having problems with expedia.com
I have a small guest house in Sweden, experience on many rental housing platforms, a good rating. expedia.com is the most unprofessional platform for hotels. Business is the ability to compromise and solve problems. In 2016, the owners of hotels in America filed a lawsuit on the expedia.com
This site expedia.com does not have a "hotel owners protection" program.
I had a problem with getting money from this site and review.
To increase the visibility of the hotel they require to constantly increase the commission., the support service may consist of "mental disabled" who are only able to send a "standard cliche answer." The policy of the reviews is absurd: a person, who did not come to the hotel and did not live in the hotel, can write a negative review, blackmail and threaten me, demand additional money, they call it "valuable guest experience."
Money from the guests receives the site of the excerpt and sends them in a month (plus add 2 more weeks of correspondence with support, that makes mistakes in financial documents ().
As a result of working with them from August to January, I received damage, a fall in the rating. Anti-advertising of my hotel, a waste of time and nerves for correspondence during 2-3 weeks. This is an extremely negative experience and impression of the work of this site expedia.com. We advise hotel owners to avoid contact with this platform.
We apologize for the English translation(google translate

Booked a 5-star hotel and flights for an important family trip. It had to be cancelled 2 days before for reasons beyond our control (emergency in the family). 2 hours on the phone with customer service, mostly on hold with a couple of disconnects. In the end refused to refund a single dollar. Asked many personal questions and gave me advice on how to deal with a family situation that I did not ask for. How are they in business? I will NEVER use them again.

Worst customer service
January 16, 2018

I recently called to add another person to the cabin I booked for cruise. I got someone online after waiting 40 min on non busy time. Then they put me on hold for 4 times says they want to talk to their manager. After I waited for over 1 and half hours they simply hanged up on me without no help. Never will book through Expedia again. Worst service.
