Expedia has hidden charges. They show you on the receipts what they want you to see to make it look like their prices are low. When you go to their page to reserve, check "Important Information". Example if a hotel charges $ 25 a day for parking they do not put it in your receipt.
They do the blame game instead of issuing a refund to the customer. I will never use them again and I will not recommend
I was on the phone with several representatives so they can try to change my flight, I booked with Expedia and they gave me such a hard time trying to switch over my flight to a later time because I had a family emergency and they wouldn't they wanted to charge me $220 extra for the difference because of the time. They had me on the phone for two hours and when I went to actual airline to change it they were able to. Do not purchase anything for Expedia they do no care about us customers especially during this whole COVID19. Don't waste ur time spending any money with them. You're better off booking through the airline instead!
I have never had such a bad experience with a company in my life. Their policies are beyond comprehension. I booked a flight and upgraded to first class, then covid canceled our plan. Now I want to downgrade the ticket to use in coach so I can go on two trips. Even though the airline says you absolutely can do this, Expedia said that have no way to and it can't be done. 5 hours and 4 agents later they say there's no email and no way to reach corporate. I've used Expedia over 40 times to book my flight, car rentals and hotels. I caution you to book through them. I will never use this site again!
My experience with them is totally horrible.
They reserve fake flights just to get the passenger trapped and they get the money and never respond to me. They put me on hold for ages. They finally try to limit your options to pay double of the tickets prices

Expedia will charge you for a car rental reservation in order to save you money. The price that is guaranteed will be way higher and then they will refuse to refund, saying the charge they took was for insurance. Truth - that insurance you can't even use!

Booked a flight with the, Montreal-Vancouver. Because of circumstances out of my control I had to postpone for 24 hours. Called expedia, was told no problem. Booked me on same flight 24 hours later. I call my furniture moving company and have them scheduled to move everything out the morning of my 6PM flight. Everything goes well, apartment is empty, return my keys and go to the airport. This is June 2nd. Arrive at airport, get in line. When I get to the service counter I am told that I'm not booked on any flight. Customer service from Expedia forgot to hit the enter button to confirm the flight. Got on the phone. They couldn't get me on the flight for 24 hours. I had nowhere to go, nothing to eat, nowhere to sleep. Spent the night in the Airport and all of the next day till my flight at 6PM. Called them for some type of reimbursement, and received nothing but an arguement. They shouldn't even have a license or any affiliation with any Airline.
Property Owners be ware! Expedia are not paying out property owners. I have had2 guests stay in July 31st and August 4th. No payment received as yet. No reply to my correspondence. Customer service is incompetent. Will take this as far as I have to to get my £500. Disgraceful and unprofessional!
I had to cancel a ticket due to sickness and got a $600 credit. I called today to use my credit and was on the phone for 2.5 hours (!), on hold most of the time, to get a new ticket. However, in order to use my credit I had to pay an additional $200. I was fine to forfeit $200 of my credit for another ticket, but to have to pay another $200 to get a $300 ticket is CRAZY. That would be $800 out of my pocket for a new ticket.
What a scam! In these times of COVID where travel plans are disrupted this is criminal in my view. I will never, ever, use Expedia again.
I am very disappointed with expedia after many years. I booked trip from mco to plq after I arrived to Europe they cancelled my flight witch is understandable do to covid 19 SAS airlines cancelled. So I called them to see about my return flight I was told they have another flight 34 Hr but after I booke if I find better flight call them back. I found it 18 Hr flight back to USA they wanted to charge me $ 1000 dollars extra and said that it was not them it was SAS airlines. I called SAS explained the situation without any problem they changed my flight $0 cost. I will never book trough expedia again. They try to make money during force majeure is discosting and disappointing. And the staff on call is not caring about you at all. Before you book your flight trough expedia try go trough airlines first is cheaper and won't be a problem.
Having booked a holiday package (flights and hotel) in November 2019 for travel in March 2020, due to the lockdown I was unable to travel. Despite government guidance against all international travel, Expedia are refusing to provide a refund on the basis that the flights and hotels were still open (holiday was to Abu Dhabi). Despite government lockdown and advise against all International travel, no refund or voucher. I have only just realised that Expedia are not registered with ABTA (assist with dispute resolution) although are ATOL protected (financial assistance should the agent go just). Will now try to claim via the credit card company else will have to try the small Claims court. Will not be using Expedia again for any holiday bookings now that they are keeping almost £1k and no refund!

I stayed at a very shady motel this last weekend, it had a no refund policy. In the pictures the place looked clean, had a pool, breakfast, etc. this place even listed a sauna as an amenity. It had NONE of these things, the pictures were all fake! The amenities listed were lies. My work had booked this place thinking it was inexpensive and looked safe/nice. However, when I booked in there was no one manning the desk. The ‘maintenance guy', some crackhead grilling hotdogs over a coffee can in the parking lot checked me in. Never asked for an ID or my name. Most the rooms were open and the fire alarm in mine was hanging off the ceiling by it's wires. There was no channels on the television (maintenance guys said he didn't know and to just pull off the fire alarm). Anyways, it was NOT SAFE. I contacted Expedia, I explained I DID NOT want a refund, I wanted people to know this is not the place listed and it was unsafe. They said they'd make ‘notes'. I explained people's lives are in danger and if they would read the reviews they would see they should not be listing this motel. They stated they could not do anything, the pictures were provided by the motel and that the amenities the more listed might be changed after review of the notes...! Almost deliberately they gave me the runaround and disconnected me when I only wanted an accurate description of the motel to be given for the next family that decided it looked safe by the pictures. This place stayed they even had a SAUNA, oh my god, it barely had walls. Still, Expedia would not do anything. Download a different app, these guys are jokes that only care about their percentage, not their customer.
Customer service is horrible! Before buying your flight and/or hotel check the airline and hotel out directly. You might pay a couple dollars extra but its worth the savings on headaches trying to deal with expedia for any issues you might have. They have the worst customer service! I been on the phone for over 3 hours trying to use an airline credit
Why do you tell us hotels / motels are full when they are NOT, l call and did get much better yes better prices than you l also tell people check prices at motels / hotels them self. You need to start TELLING the truth "oh" that's a bad word to Expedia and all of your company's. Check who owns the travel company's you are using.

They will leave you sleeping in your car. I started a 5 am to confirm room because I knew there were power outages. I called hotel with no answer and told this worthless company the same. They said they would call and did. Said they don't answer the phone. No$#*!. We will try again in a few hours and if there is a problem we will contact you via email. I land. Drive to hotel and it's closed. I call. They say they will call again. Then they say owner says they have not power. Why didn't you call the owner the first time? Guess what. Now they sent an email. We have another hotel. I drive there and it's close. I call back. They say they talked to john and he has a room for me. I drive there its closed. I call again. While I am wasting my time I make calls and find a hotel within 5 minutes. They wasted 4 hours of my life and left me to sleep in my car. It was an act of nature they said. So now not telling the truth and being just plan stupid is an act of nature? Bring back natural selection. I am ot typically a $#*!er, but this one is unbelievable! And they don't care. I will have to contest the charges on my credit card. Do yourself a favor and make your own reservation. The one time it goes south they will kick you to the curb.
I buy flight tickets with Expedia. Airline canceled the departure flight and they give a credit. I ask them to leave the return flight in case I found another airline to get there. Unfortunately I did not found any flight; so I called Expedia and told them to leave my credit for future dates. For my surprise they told me that they can't do nothing and I loose my money. Even though they do not give me a credit for the flight canceled by the airline. That's unfair. I was a customer for years, but I will never do my travel with them. It's not worthy.
They made a mistake on their end when changes dates and when I immediately contacted them, they cancelled my booking and tried to rebook me with an additional 40 dollars per night. When I said that we just changed it and they put in the wrong dates, they didnt care its there policy and theres nothing they could do. Absolutely absurd. Never deal with them, go directly through the hotels, they give better rates anyway.
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
