We travelled from Dubai to Venice having pre-booked a rental car to pick up from Venice today to the 30tb September.

On arriving at Gold Car reception, they confirmed my booking and requested my drivers license and passport, which I produced, the gentleman in turn said that my Australian drivers license was not sufficient and that I required an international drivers license which I have never required and do not have.

I called booking.com and the gentleman on the other end advised the same and mentioned its on my voucher, which it's not, I'm not sure whether this is a website, print or other reason why it did not specify this requirement, nevertheless, even if it is, it's ridiculous, I have an apartment in Italy, travel 1-2 times a year, normally use Expedia to book hire car, normally never have a problem in using my Australian drivers license. With this being the first time I've used booking.com, being stranded in Venice airport as no cars available from other rental companies, I am appalled and this is not acceptable?

After all this I received a generic email from some idiot Alex Snr Customer care Service saying that here was no refund as the terms and conditions specific otherwise, even after I spelled out that I did not receive any such t&c's, so it cost me Euro 298 for nothing.

In any case, never had a requirement to provide an international drivers license with any other car rental company - DO NOT USE ECONOMY BOOKING OR GOLD CAR RENTAL.

NO GOOD!

So I just thought I would follow up and let everybody know that economy bookings has yet to contact me after a month and a half after telling me that it would be 7-10 days. They must be REALLY busy lying to all the other people that they have screwed over as well.

Misleading prices

After writing my previous review, EconomyBookings got in contact with me to say how sorry they were to hear about my dissatisfaction with their company and asked me to contact them to rectify this. I did this and to date I have not heard a thing - obviously posted this to try and make themselves look better. When we booked the car they also wouldn't send us the voucher, they seldom answered the phone and finally when they did, they said Avis in Limassol was CLOSED on a Saturday (which it wasn't) - what a shambles they are!

I am also trying to get a refund from economybookings. In June I went to pick up a car that I had rented through them. The car hire company would not accept my husband's credit card. I called economybookings and they said they wouldrrefund me the 300£ I had spend. It's now September and after various emails back and forth asking for information such as the phone number I called them from and scans of my husband's credit card I am slowly realising that they are just playing with me. They are theives.

I rented a car in June 2015, EconomyBooking charged me for the rental and when I went to pick up the car, Dollar refused to give me the car. I was told I would get a refund, but it's been 3 months and I have tried to get in touch with EconomyBooking and other than someone in Latvia e-mailing me back one line weeks ago, I have not received any response. I have filed a complaint with my bank and i was able to get their address and will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. In addition, I will speak with a consumer lawyer to see what else I can do. If you want to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, here is the address 616 Corporate Way suite 2, Valley Cottage, NY *******, which you will not find on their website. There is nothing I despise the most than companies trying to scam people, and I am determined to get my money back. So we can do this as easy or as painful for them as they want.

I am very satisfied about your rental car service, all went well including reception and car return, the car was in order and did the job. I have received today debit on my card accordingly to the agreed contract price and so I can confirm you that when I will be again in Costa Rica next year, I will rent the car again.

Avoid using

TAXES AND FEES NOT INCLUDED: I recently found EconomyBookings and gave it a try. Their price was great so I applied for a rental car. When I received the receipt I noticed the fine print stating that TAXES AND FEES were not included in the price. The price stated was only for the car rental agency charges. Taxes and airport fees are usually as much or more than car rentals so I sent an email to customer service for a detailed receipt and received no reply. I contacted the car rental agency directly and their quote was less and included all fees. I cancelled the EconomyBookings rental within 24 hours and received a confirmation but also that the refunded amount would be posted within 45 days. The "within" part is wrong as I received a reply to customer service that the refund will be posted EXACTLY on the 45 day. Several seconds to post a charge but 45 days to post a refund. DUH? At least weekly I receive OFFERS from EconomyBookings that look great but still have not received a detailed receipt explaining what the charges for a car rental include. I did more searching and noticed that I could get a detailed list of cost from other websites so I used them. I am also taking a second trip and checked out EconomyBooking again to use an OFFER. Once again I got a great quote but DID NOT INCLUDE LOCAL TAXES OR FEES. Maybe this website does give great service and deals, but not detailed enough for my business.

I booked a car with these guys last August 2015, paying with my Visa debit card, which was charged immediately with the full amount of the rental. When I went to pick up the car, the local rental company refused to give it to me unless I provided them with a different (credit) card for the deposit. So I called economybookings and asked them to either change my booking to a different rental company or to cancel my booking and give me a refund. Neither happened and I had to rent a car on the spot with a major rental company which, of course, accepted my debit card. Economy Bookings declined any responsibility on the basis of their terms and conditions and basically retained the payment for a service they never provided. This is a decidedly deceitful practice and one that should obviously be avoided. In the future I will tolerate the service charges of the major car companies in exchange for decent customer service and peace of mind. I strongly advise you to do the same.

I paid to rent a car through economybookings.com last April 2015. The rental agency would not honor the paid voucher from economybookings.com. I had to rent a vehicle on the spot at a much higher rate. It took me two months to get a partial refund for my paid voucher and now (August 2015) they won't respond to why they won't give me a full refund.
Beware! They will gladly charge your credit card, but good luck if the rental agency they book through doesn't honor it. What seemed like a deal too good to be true... is.

UPDATE: Their response to take care of this is bogus. They did not even respond when I referenced this as they suggested. This company should not be allowed to do business.

Best rental car experience yet. I've rented a car in Bari, Italy and Belfast, N. Ireland before both from big companies. Economybookings were amazing. Really friendly, helpful and flexible. I would definitely recommend them to family and friends.
