The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with some customers praising the quality of unique items and positive experiences with customer service. However, a significant number of reviews highlight serious concerns, including inflated shipping costs, poor communication, and issues with product authenticity. Many customers report dissatisfaction with the handling of returns and complaints, often facing unresponsive support. Overall, while there are pockets of positive feedback, the prevailing sentiment suggests a decline in service quality and transparency, leading to frustration among long-time users and potential legal actions from dissatisfied customers.

I bought a Jade necklace for $225 that they said was marked 14 karat. When I received it, it was not marked at all and tested as NOT gold. I tried to return it and they would not let me. Also, they bid against their customers to drive up prices. Run!
So if you bid on something be aware that the timer keeps getting extended. Probably to boost bids on an item which is unfair to the high bidder. Very high shipping costs and pricing on shipping is all over the place.
For a very long time, I had heard about EBTH and never found anything I truly wanted. Low and behold, a few weeks ago the item appeared and I purchased it for a reasonable price. The item was packed professionally (puts most auction houses to shame) and was delivered with tracking by FrdEx for a reasonable price.
They misrepresented product that was listed and refuse to stand by the customer satisfaction like the recordings say on their line. Do not waste your money with them!
In September 2021 I purchased item - (ITMG*******) Bottega Veneta Matte Silver Tone Mirrored Aviators from Ebth. An online auction. The item was defective. I bought the item to my local Bottaga Venetta store located in Miami to see if anything could be done. They contacted their headquarters in Italy and reported back to me that the glasses I bought were counterfeit. EBTH refuses to acknowledge this and issitist that I take my time to contact Bottagea Venetta again and get the information in "Writing". I do not believe it is my roll as the buyer to prove that this product is a counterfeit since I have already spent too much of my time on the purchase. I supplied the Name and Address for EBTH to follow up on the info they required but they refused. Buyer beware when buying brand named product from the company with no integrity and unknowledgeable "Eperts."
I dealt with Ryan Stroble <*******@ebth.com> at EBTH
We used EBTH for a sizable sale of collectibles, vintage clothing, and more. This was a first attempt to see how well the company did before we looked at much more valuable goods.
Their collection and analysis of our goods and choices for auction were excellent. The person that was used for this was knowledgeable, very helpful and, frankly, a dream to work with.
We had to pay several thousand dollars for this but figured it would be worth it.
When done, we will likely sell over 500 items or more.
Then came the reality.
They have no risk in the game at all and you must rely solely on their curation for what gets put together and offered at auction. Their commission structure states that any item sold below $30 has no commission and it's an absolute auction. Curators wouldn't game that would they?
Well, it appears that is exactly what happens.
The average winning bid for over 216 items was 44. It generated over $8,000 in total sales for EBTH but because the winning bids were so low, we got a fraction of that, approaching about 8%
They had absolutely nothing to say when I confronted them and believe they SEEK these low level bids just so they can generate and keep the lions share of the revenue.
They made no attempt to even try and make things right and the multi-million dollar coin collection, the next step, will never happen
Do not trust this company. They seek to rip you off and can get away with it.
I have been a repeat customer for several years. I love this company. I have purchased diamond jewelry, furniture, crystal, and many other treasures, at great prices from EBTH. Each transaction has been easy. I have received all of my items, just as described, and in excellent condition. The shipping is a tad high, but it is evident that their shippers take great care packaging items safely.
I bought a shaker tray from EBTH. It was described as used. Photos showed a perfect item. They failed to include a photo of the back which has an 8" crack. Have called twice and the only option is to leave a number for a callback. Have also written them. They do not respond to either. Buyer beware. I'm out over $250.
They promise great service but once contract is signed no follow through the waited a month for labels to send my items for auction nothing. Only email was to buy their auction items
I discovered EBTH a little over a year ago. Since then I have had winning bids in the categories of antiques, furniture, glass, porcelain and ceramics, jewelry, decor (mirror, wall sconces, and others), oil paintings, old coins, books, clothing (great deal on a black leather zip-up car coat with an attached fur-trimmed hood), and shoes; I could go on and on but there have been so many I can't remember them all. It is important to look carefully at every picture given for the item, the written description, and the comments given at the end, because sometimes an item looks bigger than it is, and that has made me overdid a couple of times. What I don't like is that sometimes the site does not give you an accurate size description, and sometimes the shipping cost seems high. Overall, though, I love either and highly recommend it. I check for new sales every day (sometimes there are as many as 34 with hundreds of items in a sale!
I had items to sell I knew had big value but I was nervous and perplexed about signing up with any service online. A friend recommended EBTH. I researched them and decided to contact them by email. I received a reply in less than 24 hours. I was so surprised to hear back that fast. Samantha, the rep was easy to talk to and very helpful explaining the process. Then she sent me an email outlining what she had told me. Nothing alarmed me and I never felt I might be scammed. Everything moved forward without a hitch. I got amazing amount for my items. I also thought the commission rate from EBTH was very fair. After my items sold, I got email telling me when I could expect my share of the sale. I then right on time got another email letting me know my check was on its way and an invoice of the sale and payment was attached. All very straight forward. I highly recommend EBTH and would use their services again in a heart beat!
When I first found EBTH, I didn't want to tell my friends because I thought of it like a favorite out of the way restaurant where you can always get a table. Well, it seems everyone has heard about it by now and it's become my go to site. I've always been very happy with the quality of the items and very fast shipping. I'm a long-time buyer at traditional auctions as well as online sites and I have to say some of my very favorite things I have been purchased from EBTH.
I have ordered several things from them because they really do get some great luxury fashion items! But the last 3 times has taken over 30 days to receive the items and I had a Louis Vuitton handbag sent in a box with no packing not in a protective bag or anything and the box was crushed and torn! They are very slow when responding to inquiries and customer service basically doesn't even answer your questions or address the issue! I am currently waiting on a key chain that they took my money ($320) over a month ago and I still don't have a delivery date! The expedited fee is added without your knowledge so they can extract the money somehow faster from your credit card and it's done on all transactions unless you link your checking account directly for them to debit!
I am a fan of antique jewelry and I really love shopping on EBTH.com. They have a lot of great items and often at great prices. Unfortunately, the delivery option they often use has proven unreliable. Out of about ten items ordered over the past 6 or 7 months, two have been lost in the mail. I am particularly upset about the most recent one, a pair of irreplaceable victorian earrings. The worst part about these items being lost in the mail is that when you contact EBTH about it, they will tell you they can't do anything about it until it has been 30 days, at which point they will file a claim with FedEx and send you a refund. So twice I have been in this waiting game position of being without both product and money, and would have really preferred that EBTH make an effort to track down the missing items rather than force me to wait until they were lost forever and then issue a refund.
Until this practice is changed, I will no longer spend more than $200 on EBTH.
What a phenomenal place to find interesting items! Outstanding customer service along with attention to detail on their website makes this a great shopping experience. I highly recommend searching anything you're looking for!
They've added fees so now you're paying: shipping + (maybe tax) AND "everything expedited fee." What's the fee!?! Maybe they're outsourcing packing/shipping work to a 3rd party. On a $450 ring, this means I paid $25.74, and after 11 days it hasn't arrived - some kind of shared shipping with Fedex/Post Office and tracking is abysmal... so I don't know where the "expedited" comes in. I've purchased 3 rings/gemstones recently (I know, I said I gave up on them) and ALL 3 times there was inadequate tracking and an average of 10 days to arrive.
Yes - you can find unique items and deals on designer items BUT prepared to PAY, WAIT and rarely ever hear back from their customer service.
I've spent thousands of dollars on jewelry and furniture here but am now DONE. They don't stand behind their items, outright refuse (or make it VERY DIFFICULT) to return a faulty item, and are slow to respond (to the point that you miss out on auctions if you wait for a question to be answered before bidding).
EBTH provides really wonderful products at value prices, easy to use app and well-packed and fast shipping.
Great site. Happy with purchases. But the delivery times are so slow and especially in light of the high delivery fees. Example: bought a small purse for $79. Delivery fees came to $20. And the item took forever to get here.
Sent a Balenciaga backpack to my daughter for her 30th birthday gift. I was a little nervous because i would have liked to see more pics on the condition. She said nothing looked wrong with the bag at all. Inside was totally stain-free. The look on her face was pure elation. Mahalo EBTH. You never disappoint
My first experience from purchase was handled with extreme professionalism and the delivery was Very painless.
Answer: I am just got through selling items through EBTH, and it has been the worst experience I have ever had. They grouped many expensive items together because they thought it was in the best interest of the company not the seller. I am also currently seeking legal council to potentially file suit against the company for fraudulent business practices. They didn't even give me a copy of their so called "contract", that I had to sign and send in with my items, until there was only 1 hour left in my sale. They left out the most expensive pieces I sent in and didn't sell them at all, didn't find out why until sale was over. As if all this weren't enough, they took real diamonds from the items I sent in to sell and replaced them with "white sapphires". So needless to say, they're probably about to get hit with a heavy lawsuit!
Answer: I have filed with the BBB and IC3 for internet fraud, and I am writing the Attorney General of Ohio. These guys make the used car salesman of the 60's look like saints. The products are marginal, and the service i mean customer service is non-existent. I also filed a fraud case with my bank, because for 3 week I got the run-around about them shipping the item, I never got it, and they said they couldn't return my money. Not true! In the United States, keeping the money and keeping the merchandise is illegal. Don't let the technology and glam of the website fool you, they are deceptive, dishonest, and you get the 'EVERYTHING BUT WHAT YOU PAID FOR.
Answer: Just to let you know ebth customers and consignors are dropping like flies. The arrogant company just terminated nearly 300 employees and closed markets in many states. That means its not growing, its failing.
Answer: I've not sold with them and never would. I've read the responses from people who sold items with these people and if you would like to be ripped off, then by all means go ahead. You'd fair much better by locating an auction house in your area. My experience with this particular bunch of thieves is on the buying end. Photos do not show the big picture, if there is a flaw in any item it will not be in the description and most certainly will not be photographed. The exorbitant shipping charges are insane. I'm not sure if as a seller you would see any profit from shipping, my guess is it goes right into their pockets. This is a very dishonest bunch from top to bottom. Please find a reputable dealer to sell you cherished items, I cannot stress this enough.
Answer: I bid on a pair of Swarovski Crystal Penguins. I was unaware that the larger Penguin was supposed to have a "tail" at the back. It's difficult to see with the cutting of the crystal so I only noticed it when I saw another like item and it had the tail. I closely inspected and can see what I thought was a cut in the crystal is really not smooth and is where the tail should be. The item was delivered on May 12. I put in a claim on July 2 and the company is standing on their 30 day return policy even though they listed as good condition and it was not broken in the box, I've spent thousands of dollars at their site and probably would have continued. The customer service individual refused to let me speak to a manager and just kept repeating the same thing. Now for 134 dollars, I am done with ever buying another thing. Not a good way to run a business. If they are going out... it's no wonder.
