The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with some customers praising the quality of unique items and positive experiences with customer service. However, a significant number of reviews highlight serious concerns, including inflated shipping costs, poor communication, and issues with product authenticity. Many customers report dissatisfaction with the handling of returns and complaints, often facing unresponsive support. Purchased three things from EBTH. A car shipped for half of what a guitar shipped for (BEWARE OF OUTRAGEOUS SHIPPING CHARGES AND NO COMMUNICATION ABOUT SHIPPING METHODS).
Other orders only half the pieces came. No e-mail or response from CS about issue.

The site is a joke. Shop at your own risk.

IF they are not honest on shipping costs, then they will be other issues with honesty also. Nice business concept, but run with no competency or ethics. Back to Ebay who have issues, but nowhere like this company!

EBTH.COM ARE CROOKS.
November 19, 2016

Read all the fine print in all their disclaimers before buying or setting up an account with them.
They charged my bank card $110.00 for a $5.00 item I did not want. I filed a dispute on the transaction with my bank. My bank told me they had set the account up as a recurring billing agreement that authorizes them to charge your account at any time without any action from you. They also told me the reason these types of companies charge such high shipping charges ($104.00) is because if you dispute the transaction you can only dispute the actual item amount and not the shipping charge. They are crooks.

Seller beware
November 11, 2016

We have purchased several items from here mostly with good results. The last item purchased took way too long to ship, couldn't find it for a while, then a month later got notice it shipped; we shall see. The sale said it was in Northbrook, where they have a warehouse, close to us, but the item wasn't in Northbrook, it was inOhio so we had to pay shipping we weren't planning for.

We also ran a sale through them and while we did make more than we thought we would, which was good, we think we could have done better had the descriptions been better or more accurate of what the item was. We spent several days, of a 7 day sale, emailing back and forth to get descritions changed. We had over 350 items so it was hard to verify all of them. Some the color was wrong, the gender was wrong, some were marked 14k gold or 925 silver and that wasn't mentioned and a couple items were separated and sold in two different lots so the item wasn't complete. Also an item was lost somewhere in the process and since we didn't photograph everything before it left it was our word against theirs; guess who won that argument. I am not saying this is a bad service, they do provide a valuable service and it is nice not having to have people come to the house and we probably got more for the items than we would have at a garage or conventional estate sale. My advice would be to document everything that leaves, even though they do it as it is packed. There was some breakage in transit, a problem when it all gets sent to Cincinnati.

RIP OFF
November 4, 2016

First purchase, they lost the main item in the lot purchased. OK, they refunded $10. Second purchase, figurines. Customer service included a snide remark on receipt that the ebth person made during pick up (I had called customer service- what a joke, sounded like college kids scrambling for answers). Third purchase, oddly enough an item that I kept bidding on kept going up and up, then I gave up. Later I find that this item sold for $50 less than my last bid... leading me to suspect that this is a set up. They drive the prices up in order to gain better compensation. On the item I did win- Shipping, is ridiculous- they charge 3X the amount, and yes, the item did arrive, DAMAGED! NEVER AGAIN, would prefer to flush my cash down a toilet rather than give it to these people.

Beware
November 3, 2016

I won one auction and was pleased with shipping and handling. I however have not unpacked my dishes yet to see 1. If the description matches what i received 2. The condition after shipping. However, I have since been following some items on the site. First I was following an acoustic guitar signed by Bob Dylan. Strangely, 2 days later when I went back to look at the status, it had been removed from the website! I sent an email to EBTH and received no answer, but they closed my ticket. I rated the response of the ticket (none) as very poor. Now my ticket has disappeared!

Second, I was watching a Roberto Clemente business card, but unfortunately missed out on the bid before it closed. However, IT'S NOW BACK ON THERE... after the winning bid from the end of October. What the heck? I believe their is some inside stuff going on there and I have lost my trust in them. Probably will not bid on anything else after reading some of the above reviews and what I have experienced myself.

I am on the fence with this auction site. So far, out of the six auctions I have won, with only three have I been satisfied. The cause of my dissatisfaction with half of the auctions relates to inaccurate descriptions of the items. In July, I won a "pair" of Waterford lamps that were listed as a matching set, with both possessing the etched Waterford mark. Upon receipt, it was obvious that while these were similar in look and design, they were not a matching set. One was considerably lighter (6 pounds lighter - I weighed them!) and it did not have the Waterford mark. It is complete misrepresentation to call a lamp a Waterford lamp if it does not possess the etching. SO, I basically bought one Waterford lamp and a somewhat similar knock-off. Had the description been accurate, I would not have bid on the item. I have also had bad luck with auctions in Denver, which is where I live. The items I won have not been accurately described. One set of tables had scratches all over them, even though the condition on the site said "good". The pictures did not capture the extensive scratches. Not sure if they do this on purpose or by accident, but the end result is a dissatisfied customer. Lastly, I just returned from trying to pick up a fabric bench that I won last night, and like before, the description said "good" and did not clarify that there was staining to the top of the fabric bench. The staining was obvious when I went to pick up the item. Again, not sure if they think they don't have to provide accurate descriptions or what, but ultimately I am reluctant to bid on any future Denver auctions. I am starting to realize that EBTH's categorization of "good" condition runs the spectrum of excellent used condition all the way down to barely fair.

Beware... beware
October 24, 2016

Bought a watch $440 omega mens guaranteed to be in good working condition... stem broken... when turning totally comes out of watch... watch face moves under crystal... their response a "gemologist" not a certified watch jeweler looked at it... said I was on my own to get it fixed... scam... representative hung up on me. After several attempts to return they just sent it back in same non working condition...
Obviously no customer service... no sense of honesty whatsoever... will have to persue through local attorney to hopefully get results

Beware when bidding on items in your own town. Common sense would say that you could pick it up, but make sure it is actually located in your city. Is this legal? I could see if they were like eBay, but you can search by city. VERY DECEPTIVE.

BEWARE! Beside other serious concerns after a dozen winning purchases, the SHIPPING IS TOTAL GARBAGE... DAMAGE IS ALMOST GUARANTEED, nearly every single time. A $1,000 time piece in standard office envelope wrapped twice with brown paper! A 150 year old clock tossed in a box of popcorn, broken off the base, original glass now crushed. THEN you contact them and they pass you off to a 3rd part and take NO RESPONSIBILITY whatsoever! You will NEVER get a claim handled. It's not the outside package, it's the "care-less" people slamming the items in the box and taping it up with the only objective being to get it out the door. And the S&H charges are NOT cheap.

I have been working with this company for some time because you do see some good stuff on their website. However, a significant number of my purchases have arrived damaged. They overcharge for shipping and then don't pack things appropriately. If you challenge them on shipping, they reduce the price. Make sure you challenge them. They automatically make you pay for an item, before you have a chance to ask any questions. I have asked questions, and received the answers after they deducted the payment from your account. Too bad if you don't like the answer. If items are broken and they are what you bid for, they will only partially refund your purchase price even if the rest of the lot was total garbage. I have shopped there for quite some time but I did not receive an couple of items and they have told me too bad for you. Well, no. Too bad for them as I will no longer shop their site.

BE CAREFUL. On my first attempt to bid on an item the bidding was less than honest. I placed a bid on an item only to find that the same bid was placed by another bidder at the same time. This happened several times on the same item. The only way that this could happen is if they have a rigged computer program that automatically slides a bid in over you. I will never visit this auction site again. It all makes sense since they get paid on commission and if the items don't get bid up then they loose money.

First experience went as it should. Still have not received second winning bid though my credit card has been billed. They list the transaction as still being processed. Third experience a nightmare! Had been following a jewelry item and sent a request for more information on the day it closed. Did not receive a reply so did not bid. The next morning I received an email telling me I had won the item for almost $400! I never placed a bid! My attempt to correct this resulted in a reply that their records show I placed the winning bid and I will be charged! I will dispute this charge with my credit card while trying to get some satisfaction from this company and then cancel that credit card so this can't happen to me again.

Don't trust them
September 27, 2016

On 3 occasions now I have won Items only to have them lost or given to someone else. The also refuse to give you a refund. On this third situation I have been given every excuse in the book from " Oh the auction ended on the holiday and we are behind" to "The item was given to the shipper and we can't get in contact with them". On one occasion my item was given to someone else and I was lucky enough that, that person was honest and brought the item back.

This company is far from what is was before the three stooges bought into it. There customer service specialists are a complete joke on you and really do not have the time of day to listen to you. Items described as real gold were in fact gold plated or silver. Was not given my money back or a credit to my credit card but given useless gift cards. Diamonds are not described as actual and more like fantasies. They do not disclose if diamonds are cracked, flawed or chipped. Shipping is costly and beyond the realm of realistic.

Shipping costs are quoted before the auction and when you win the item, the shipping costs almost double. Upon contacting the useless customer service people at ebth, they claim that they do not make a penny with shipping or packing. Another total lie. As a matter of fact, that is all this company seem to do is lie, lie, lie.

Please look at the glassdoor reviews about this company. It seems that they not only treat customers like animals but also there employees. At least companies cannot buy glassdoor reviews.

Twice I won auctions and the items never show up. Call after call to customer (dis)service only stalls the inevitable refund. But meanwhile, 6 weeks have gone by while they have your money. Not worth the effort. Stay away

This site looks new and slick. It should be called Slick Willie. If you go to the site to look at a particular city, then select that city, the go to ending soon, it will add other cities as well with informing you so when you bid and win, then you have to use their shipping service which is 3 times the normal rate or forfeit the monies you spent. SCAMMER SITE. Run like the devil from these people

The seller misrepresented items, and deceived me concerning their true value. Claimed art to be original oil painting, was not original oil painting was a print. Seller refuses to provided authentication for an additional piece represented as an original. Turkish rugs were carefully edited to hide numerous permanent stains and tears, covered in glue. Worthless garbage. Hidden charges - Instead of a flat rate shipping, the seller added separate charges for postage, handling, and shipping charged more than three times the actual cost. Fake bidding - The seller bids on their own items, or has someone else bid, drove up prices and manipulated my bid resulting in a fake bidding war. Stay away.

It's competitive and shipping is unique, but I appreciate that there is care in every item unlike, Amazon for instance. There are some really unique finds from all over the place!
