VERY bad service. They charged me $200 dollars without my consent for a rental that was a few days late. DO NOT rent from them!
I sent 7 books to Chegg, they claimed to have only received 4. I packaged the books myself, in 1 box. I used their preprinted shipping and packing labels. So I can not understand how they can claim my books were never received. I will never use Chegg again, I feel the stole my books.
THEY SENT MY MONEY! CHegg agreed to pay me in full, and I have received my check. I am glad to have a satisfactory resolution. I will use Chegg again!
I ordered Technical Communication textbook from Chegg. I paid extra for a delivery on Tuesday but I got the book on Wednesday instead. I missed my paper because of that! Why was I charged extra then if it was meant to delivered on wednesday? I called the customer service but they made me wait for like 40 min and then nobody answered, they just hung up the phone. I really had a very bad experience with Chegg. I Would not recommend chegg to any of my friends
I've had free trial for a tutoring for a week but they charged me $54 and then $30 twice which they are not willing to refund me cause they can't communicate better. They like to take money.
I sent a package of books into Chegg, and they only compensated me for some of them- claiming they didn't receive them all. One of the books they claimed they didn't receive was still in its original packaging from the publisher, so I was extremely upset that I was not compensated for that one especially. I will not be selling my books to Chegg ever again- I definitely do not trust whoever is in charge of opening and checking in packages.
I have used Chegg Book Rental on only 2 occasions (2x too many) with the same problem both times. Returned the books timely, received confirmation of receipts, then 1 month later they charge me to extend my book rental. Have to call them and have them correct their error. Do they do this to everyone? Who is to say. If you don't catch their "mistake" do they eventually credit your account for the book and keep your extended book rental money? I won't ever give them that opportunity again. I don't have the time for incompetent people!
I have used Chegg for a couple of years now and I love it! Never had a problem with my books and I always received them in an appropriate amount of time! I love how they let you read the e-book while you wait on your order! They have good prices for rentals. I always save a lot of money by renting from them for school books! They send little goodies with your books sometimes!
I have used Chegg for a total of two semesters now and this is the second time something happened to my order. The second time is by far the worst of the two. Without warning, they cancelled one of the orders on my books. It wasn't until several hours later that I found out through my email. This annoyed me of course since I really needed that particular book. So I had to go through the process of buying that book again. Though, it was nice they gave me a 5% off coupon for my trouble, but wait! It didn't work. So not only did this book not get a discount or "free shipping", I'm still waiting to get the refund in my bank account for the cancelled order.
I typically use chegg to buy or rent books and in my four years of college, I have never had any problems on the buying/renting end. HOWEVER, I decided to try Chegg buyback because they gave me the most options for payment AND the most money back. I opted for the Serve account to have my money sent to me. I shipped my books out 10/22/2014 and they were listed as "return acknowledged" afte rabout a week. It's now 11/22/2014 and I have not seen a status change in my books nor have I received any email or message about what is going on. Also, on 11/13 I used the online Chegg chat to see what was going on and the lady instructed me that they had just then... right as we were talking... been marked as "processed" and that I should be receiving payment soon. They're not marked process and I STILL have no payment. My books were in really good condition (one was brand new and never used and two were used with no markings, rips, tears, etc.) when I sent them to Chegg. I really wish they would communicate better and that the live chat people wouldn't lie just to get to the next customer. After this experience, I probably will not be selling books back to them again.
I received one of the books I ordered (the other one was canceled after my credit card was charged because it was surprisingly out of stock). But I am wondering why they let you get through the entire order process and in the end after completion cancel everything.
The price for the rental was pretty high. But lower than the purchase certainly. When it arrived, the book was brocken, falling into half and is completely full of text marks and writings in it. I mean there is essentially no page without a sign. I hope the pages will stick together. But I will try to return it asap.

I will never use Chegg again. I sold 3 books over a month ago, and still haven't received my payment and they can't find one of my books. This is odd, considering that all three were shipped in the same box. Customer service is terrible. Beware...
We have used Chegg for over 2 years and their customer service has always been amazing, but today they did something that was above and beyond anything I have ever seen a company do! My son dropped off 6 boxes of books at a UPS drop box and did not receive a receipt. After waiting for 2 weeks, there was no evidence that UPS (or Chegg) received them. After explaining the dilemma to the customer service rep and going over the replacement cost, he put me on hold and came back and told me that they were going to forgive the whole amount (over $500). He said that we had done everything we could have, e.g., visiting the UPS distribution center, talking to the driver, and they would pursue the matter with UPS. How outstanding is that? They will have a customer for the rest of my son's student life!
I love chegg! They have fast shipping even if you only pay for standard shipping. I always find my book the following day at my doorstep. Once you return the book to the ups they keep track of it right away and alert chegg right away. Chegg sends an email that tells you that ups received your rented book and that it's been postmarked. You don't have to worry about knowing whether they will receive the rented book or not because chegg does all the work for you! I loveeeeee chegg!
I had good experience. I have been a customer for 3 years. Good customer service. Refund policy is great. Will recommend. 5 stars if much cheaper.
Despite what the title of the rental says, the very fine print informs the buyer that you are not actually going to receive the product(s) you want to buy.
Will not let you delete payment methods without closing your account.
I sold six books to Chegg for a quoted total of $196.73. Upon reading reviews from other sites I was definitely nervous about sending my textbooks to a site that keeps them if they are in "poor" condition. Sent my books out on the 12/23/13 and was notified Chegg received them 12/29/13. Books were in the conditions specified and I received the full quoted amount (or at least they said that was what the check was for). They said it would be mailed within 5 business days and I figured with New Years right around the corner I would probably be waiting. Check showed up today 1/11/13 for the full quoted amount. I have to say guys, I was definitely nervous about getting stiffed but it worked out. Warning, only send your books if they are in GREAT condition, if you are weary about the condition don't send it because they might not pay for it and it will mess with your experience. As a Senior graduating in May 2014 I would definitely sell more of my textbooks that I purchased not related to my major again. I hope this review provided a little reassurance because I had nothing but a positive experience. Also I asked for a Check NOT Swerve or whatever it is called, still no issues. Definitely would give them my business again.
BE WARNED, 5:12 AM, MIDTERM TOMORROW, PURCHASED AN EBOOK, HAVE BEEN USING IT. TIME AFTER TIME, I AM LOGGING IN AN IT IS NOT GIVING ME ACCESS TO MY BOOK. THIS IS THE EPITOME OF DISASTER. NOT EVEN 24 HOUR PHONE SERVICE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT BROWSER. UTTER LET DOWN. PRIORITY WAS STUDYING, NOW IT IS CALLING THE GARBAGE SITE FIRST THING TOMORROW. WHAT. A. JOKE.
Textbooks are way expensive and honestly, it feels like university bookstores totally overcharge even with their rentals. Chegg.com has excellent prices for rentals. They are less then half of what the bookstore provides. The only weird thing I found was the samples they offered along with the book rentals. Maybe it's because I'm female, but they added some press on fake nails in the box. Needless to say, while their sponsors may be a bit weird, the amount of savings is awesome.
Very good prices, great selection. When my book arrived a day late, they refunded me the shipping charges without me having to ask them. I will definitely be renting from them again.
Answer: Half real half scam wil work for a day or 2 then lock you out
Answer: The monthly money is for an additional service. You can opt out of it at the time of your order. Supposedly. Check other reviews. Many of them say they were still charged after canceling the service. My best suggestion is to stay away from Chegg if at all possible.
