Used chegg over a year ago. It wasn't bad, no huge issues, returned the books, canceled my subscription, had them in mind to use when I am able to go back to school.
Then I found out that it has still been charging me for over a year. They would only refund me two months even though I cancelled, haven't been using the service in over a year, and this is clearly their error. I was condescendingly told I should double-check next time - do they really think I'm ever using them again after they stole hundreds of dollars from me?!
By the way, still doesn't say my subscription is cancelled on the website (I "double-checked" this time as instructed) so I guess I'm supposed to wait and see if they're going to continue to drain my bank account?
Over the weekend I received several Chegg emails. This morning I noticed charges to my paypal account. Under further investigation, it looks like someone started a Chegg tutors account under my account. I have a monthly Chegg subscription for study only. I am 30 years old and hold a valid Texas teaching certificate. I currently run the marketing department of a power trading software company and am 6 classes away from completing my MBA at the University of Houston Downtown. Once I logged into this new Chegg tutor account, it is clear the tutoring asked was not for someone of my career and education level. I have no children so that is not a possibility. I have stopped all payments and notified all the open tutoring requests to cease contact, as I was trying to close out the tutoring account. My bank and paypal have also been notified. When I tried to reach Chegg no one could help me. I did a live chat with Alexis from Chegg and she was not able to help either. She said she didn't know what to do. This is an issue as these hackers are able to access subscribers bank account information, however Chegg doesn't seem to take cyber security seriously.
The online chat agent was very rude to turn off the send message(reply) function, I can only look at the chat and read his/her reply after that. I have never received this kind of service. The chat agent said "keep your eye out". Then I felt be offended and try to send message back, but the funtion can not used, the chat window showing the agent still typing continuely, my message funtion unuesable. Finally, the agent ask me "is there any other question". That is ridicules, he/she knew I can not reply the message, I check the chat functions, all funtions are unusable except one named "... transcript". The customer service attitude is really opened my eyes.
I don't mind paying $15/month for the textbook solutions because they show step-by-step guides. When my teachers assign homework and I have no time to attend office hours, I use Chegg for a quick look over the problem.
However, DO NOT TRY THEIR TUTORING. I repeat DO NOT. Let me tell you, I had never been so stressed about my refunds as I was with this company. Their 30 minute free trial is a lie. I was charged $180 first lesson (that I didn't even get because of faulty time zones), then another $405 for scheduled lessons I didn't want. I was lucky that I checked my credit card transactions that day, otherwise I would have been too late to argue and dispute.
They are terrible with communicating guidelines. You don't know what you're getting into until after the mess happens.
My tutor was so patient even when I canceled the lessons. The tech support crew, on the other hand, I had to contact four times to get a single reply. I had incessantly emailed them, if that was what it took to get my money back.
The 30 free minutes trail is a ripoff. I was charged over $50 dollars for 60 minutes. They charge per minute and the rate for each minute varies depending on which pack you picked. They charge you since you start chatting with the tutor. The tutor kept you chatting for a moment then he/she ask you to request a written lesson that could last more than a minute. However, all this time of chatting and sharing information is worthless. Their job is to keep you more than an hour so they can charge you more. Don't use these tutors is my advise unless you want to spend a lot of money.
I order books as I usually do for my semester but I put the wrong address in. I went to change it and they would not let me, so I changed it on the ups site. Two weeks later. No books. I have tried contacting chegg and ups several times. I got a notification my books were sent back to chegg. I'm still waiting on my full refund.
I was a tutor at Chegg. It was good in the beginning, but one day when I logged in, it stated that your Account is not approved. And then they sent me an email and said that I have been completing student's work, which is not allowed. I am surprised for their reason, because this is what students come at Chegg. They want their assignments done. And I still dont understand that what I have done wrong?
Everyone working here is extremely rude and unwilling to help. Be very careful of the small fine print when buying/renting a book from them. THEY WILL TRY TO SCAM YOU. When I rented a book from them, I was automatically subscribed to CheggStudy (which i never used, because I clearly had no clue I was getting subscribed to something I did not authorize). I was charged $14.95 every month. They were unable to refund me my money that, once again, I DID NOT AUTHORIZE. This company is very used to dealing with students, and has absolutely no idea how to treat their customers. Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.
They literally suck worst waste of money ive ever spent. Literally cancelled it after 1 min of seeing what i bought, very misleading pieces of $#*!
It has been almost 2 weeks and I still have not received our text book rental through Chegg! The 7 day free trial of the E Book has expired too so I basically have no textbook. "All I can do is wait"? Great POOR service. Next time I am going through Amazon.com. Amazon would have provided the book within 48 hours of ordering with our Prime Membership.
I ordered a textbook through Chegg so that it would arrive on time for classes to begin. The day before it was supposed to arrive, I got an email saying that the order was cancelled due to back orders. The site had said it was in stock and not back ordered when I had placed the order. I contacted customer support, and after waiting a half hour between replies from the incredibly slow representative, I was offered 10% off my next order as the only consolation they could offer. Stay away from Chegg, they don't value their customers.
DO NOT USE CHEGG OR THEIR TUTORING. Their customer service is terrible and they charge you hundreds for tutoring of just a few hours without letting you know on the website. They didn't refund me and I'm a broke college student who had no idea that "tutoring" wasn't a part of their "study" $14 membership. They asked for my opinion on customer service through email, and when I told them I was unsatisfied, they only said they're sorry and didn't help any further. Ridiculous..
I had signed up for Chegg as a tutor. I know I had been accepted, but due to moving and unpacking I didn't have the time to go on there to help anyone. I log on today and I sign in and it says "We are sorry to inform you that your tutor application is not approved. We have to meet the educational demands of our student base, and after reviewing your application, it's not the right fit for us at this time. We appreciate you taking the time to apply for the position, and will notify you should we change our policies on reapplication. At this time, you are not permitted to reapply."
How can I go from being accepted to not being accepted and not able to reapply? After looking at all the people who got ripped off from this site; I'm GLAD they "rejected" my application..
I got a subscription to chegg to use it for supplement material and textbook solutions. They ended up flagging my account as being "shared" when it never was and cut me off from services. I had already paid for the service and now have no access to my account. Do no get chegg, they will take your money and cut off service.
I had a subscription for 120 minutes of tutoring per week. Some weeks I didn't use all my minutes because it's difficult to find a properly qualified tutor who is available when you are. One week the subscription payment didn't go through (I think a bill came out just before they took the payment). They didn't bother to notify me of any problem and just completely disabled my account. I only found this out myself after banking hours on Friday, with the possibility that it wouldn't be fixed until Monday. Even though I had 131 minutes paid for that I hadn't used, I was told that I would not be able to take advantage of these pre-paid minutes. Further, I was also excluded from the lessons that I had paid for and taken. These are lessons that I needed access to for revision. Further, after I had sorted out the payment for the subscription and asked for unused minutes to be rolled over, my emails were ignored and ignored. I also called their contact number, and even though their tutor number *******743 is supposed to be open from 9am-11pm PST, the line was closed. They gave a voice recording notice to email the enquiry, but again, emails were ignored.
Have used Chegg for years, they automatically signed me up for Chegg study. I never authorized it. I noticed the charges I called them, they would not refund me the money! They took over $180 dollars! Beware Renter!
We have the service for a year now and it was great and very helpful and customer service was amazing and when it was time to end our membership they were very very helpful and more courteous than the time that we bought the service we really loved it and we defitey recommended
Do not use their buy back program, it is a scam. Customer service lies just to appease you. More than a month has passed and no payment received. Many calls with no acceptable resolution! They do not meet the terms of the sale. Each customer service rep provided different information. No tracking on payment whatsoever. Their resolution for a check not received was to cancel and request for me to wait an additional 20 business days (on top of the initial 20 business days which have already passed). Meanwhile they have received and likely sold the textbooks received. Unacceptable to wait months for payment. TOTAL SCAM - do not waste your time.
Answer: Half real half scam wil work for a day or 2 then lock you out
Answer: The monthly money is for an additional service. You can opt out of it at the time of your order. Supposedly. Check other reviews. Many of them say they were still charged after canceling the service. My best suggestion is to stay away from Chegg if at all possible.
