I was looking for text books and discovered Chegg. When I went through my book list I found that books were 200% - 300% more than Amazon.com. I wont be using this service.

ORIGINAL REVIEW - The company is not safe. I sent in an order with two identical books. They checked in one. I called and spoke to a rep who left a message for the warehouse to check in the other book. I have left multiple emails that have gone unanswered. Now they closed out the sale and never processed my second book. They basically stole the book from me. Will never deal with the company again.

UPDATE - after numerous phone calls and emails, I finally reached someone that admitted they don't know what happened. Two books arrived but only one got checked in. I'm leaving the rating since I am only getting paid because I persisted. The check is going to take a couple more weeks, but at least I'll get paid.

On two separate occasions I purchased or rented books. Shipping was pretty fast, although the box my latest book came in was a bit managed with the bottom flap out and open inside.
I've also gotten little freebies in each order. First time I got a bottle of 5 Hour Energy and this time I got a Tide pod. It's a nifty little extra. You also get a bunch of coupons for various things but they're mostly pointless.

My biggest issue is that Chegg, in my experience, is not the best deal. If you poke around you might be able to find your books for cheaper. Seriously people, do research.

This company sucks
September 6, 2016

Ordered my daughter's textbooks through Chegg. They sent her multiple copies of one textbook and did not send the other. Called customer service and they said they will send the correct one out and a return label for the extra. Oh, wait... just got an email. Book is out of stock.

So, now have to try and track a copy down. And she needs to study. What did they offer me for my troubles a 15% off my next order coupon. Yeah right, there will not be a next time. Do yourself a favor and buy your textbooks directly from the school bookstore. Chegg uses all types of fly by night partner companies and they cannot be trusted to deliver.

I pay for Chegg service, hoping to get help on textbook questions when I'm struggling to figure out the best solution. Responses are often incomplete or just the opinion of the "expert." I submitted a question a few days ago and their "expert response" was copying and pasting the response they left on another user's question. Don't you think I would have checked for the question on their site before submitting a new one? And if I did see the same question, do you think I was satisfied with their response if I'm re-posting it to get a new response? I added a comment saying the response is incomplete and was just the "expert's" personal opinion, but a few hours later, instead of updating their response, they simply cleared my down-thumb and completely DELETED my comment... I'm VERY unsatisfied and will be discontinuing my service. Thanks for NOTHING so-called "experts..." such a scam!

This site is worse than any get rich scheme I have ever seen. Answers are wrong or missing in its entirety and the so called experts do not answer questions even though they are paid to do so.

I rented two books, anatomy and physiology and physiology, from Chegg. I lost them during the move back home and i understandingly paid for the books because i did not return them in time. I also had to pay some late fees because i didn't tell Chegg they were lost but i found them about a month after they were due so i called Chegg and they very helpfully said that they would give me my WHOLE refund back for both books and take away the late fees for me. Everything was super easy and the customer service people are so kind and helpful i felt like i was really being understood when they talked to me. I would recommend Chegg to college students looking to rent textbooks because they were so easy to return when i found my books. There isn't a single bad thing i have to say about Chegg. I couldn't be happier about my experience with Chegg and i will definitely be back next year to rent again. :)

Chegg put through an automatic renewal for the solutions manual on my Paypal account. Within one day of contacting them to cancel, they refunded my money. They have a happy customer here and will continue to use them for my college needs. Thanks, Chegg!

Thieves!
July 15, 2016

Like many have said already, I too was under the impression that my single transaction was the end of my business with chegg.com, until I noticed a charge to my card. Looking into it, I see that I was signed up for a $20/mo chegg study subscription. I will be disputing the charge. This one is clearly a wolf in sheep's clothing!

Thieves
June 22, 2016

I ordered a chegg book and i will honestly never do it again they had horrible customer service and if they think that you didn't put it in the mail on time they will charge anyway without calling just send you an email saying oh hey we took 202 out of your account sorry about just send us your book back. And in order to reach a customer service rep i had to stay on the line for about 20 minutes. So my bank account was in the negative for about two weeks before i was refunded the money. So I would personally like to thank chegg for creating the most stressful two weeks of my life and making me so broke that my bank actually started to charge me for how broke I was.

I have always rented & bought my textbooks through chegg.com & I have always had a great experience with the company. Now that I am a college graduate, I decided to sell my books back to them. They were both in excellent condition & I sent my books back within 8 days, which is what Chegg required. They quoted me only $20.00 for both books combined, but I thought, "Oh, 20 bucks is better than them sitting here collecting dust". After they have received the books, the company sent me an email saying that they are not going to pay me the quote I was quoted for the books. In fact, they are not going to pay me anything. They are giving me 2 options 1. To donate the books to them or 2. To pay $6.99 for them to ship the books back to me for me to sell somewhere else. It was a false quote of perfectly conditioned books and now that they have my books in their hands, they are not going to live up to the original quote. I am very displeased and I would not recommend anyone to sell their books to this company. Stick with selling them on Ebay or Amazon or back to the school that uses them for their courses.

Chegg Was Wonderful
June 16, 2016

I rented all my books on chegg.com last Semester. They sent right away and the return was easy in the boxes they provided. YOu pay for one way shipping and the returns are piece of cake. Whoever didn't like them must be hard to please.

I tried using Chegg because the math textbook provided for my class only had answers for odd problems. However, in order to access my math textbook, Chegg made me pay $10 for a "trial membership". It turns out that all the answees they had were wrong and any question I asked would take about a week to answer (even though the homework was due the following day). And after I clearly went back and cancelled it, it billed me for three months. I didn't notice it until later because it wasn't caught as a recurring payment, and I had previously filled out the "cancel membership" form. I'm hoping it works this time; if not, I'm calling my bank to block them...

Polished Turd
June 6, 2016

As a tutor on Chegg, I can tell you from the inside that this is a crap service. Too many tutors, not enough students. Most of the students try to rip you off by spamming tutors for free questions. Students have no control over open written lessons, which charge you a lot of money, and there is NO customer or employee service or support! Total rip off for everyone.

The best part is the "tutor alerts" that email me when they have a "student" who "needs a class a. S.a. P."; however, when you check on this "student" it turns out to be a robot program PRETENDING TO BE A STUDENT that uses a link to direct you to a question that you can't answer. I mean literally, there is NO OPTION to click and answer the question, just view the question. That is a lie in order to trick tutors to get back on the website during times of low traffic. Also, there is no regulation. Spoiled brats send you their homework assignments, expect you to give them the answer, and then copy your answer as their own. This is probably 90% of the students on here.

For tutors - STAY AWAY, not worth your time.
For real students - if you must use this site, be extremely careful, watch you bill because they will charge you for EVERYTHING, and the tutors have no regulation. Customer service is like the insurance company, they just tell you why they don't give you your money back and are not paid to help you!

Well i used the service and it was okay. I mean the experts are not that great but nevertheless i got help. Now i want to cancel my membership and there is no way of doing it
I understand that they need to make sure i don't have rentals and whatever but i do not so it should be easy right? So as there is no way i can do anything in settings i talk to the "Jonney support!" this is the conversation:

Johnny: I'm happy to help you with this, but because this issue is a little more complex, the best way to move forward would be for you to submit a request about it at chegg.com/tutors/support. Well be able to give you a more in-depth response through that platform.

Me: i just want to cancel my membership so i am not charged. Which part of this "complex"?
And then he blocked me from chatting with him anymore!

Seriously, Chegg has saved me so much money on books. Every quarter I look around for the books I need and I always wind up going back to Chegg because they have the absolute best rental prices. They've saved my credit card 2 quarters in a row now.
