Alibris enjoys a strong reputation among customers for its extensive selection of books, particularly rare and antiquarian titles, coupled with competitive pricing and reliable service. Many users appreciate the straightforward pricing structure and flat-rate shipping, which enhance their shopping experience. However, some concerns have been raised regarding the checkout process, including difficulties in changing shipping addresses and the requirement for lengthy reviews, which can be frustrating. Overall, while customers express high satisfaction with the platform's offerings, there is room for improvement in user interface and customer support aspects.

I found the book on bookfinder which provided a description for the book and said postage was included. When I clicked through to alibris and put it in my basket, additional postage was added.
Quite good. I was annoyed by 'HPB-movies' recently who charged me, told me a book was actually mailed then cancelled it and took 3 days to reimburse me.
Shipping cost incresed 3x right before paying. They wait till you introduce all shipping and payment data before showing the real cost. Not a good practice.
No funny stuff, name and number and away we go. Just the way it should be. No extra passwords to have to remember. After all we are not looking for the password to the cave in which the giant sapphire is hidden, are we. No Sri Lankan sapphires just a treasure of a book
Via another search engine, I went straight to the book I wanted. As a regular-ish user, the order process was quick and simple.
Good communications with seller, although photos on the alibris site always help.
My first order was cancelled and when I chose a replacement using the link provided, this was cancelled as well. Now I am ordering a third time. It is so confusing. The bookshop that has cancelled twice is still showing the book on offer, but I am afraid to order from them again, so I have chosen a different copy.
My original order was cancelled, but the replacement seems almost the same. I don't understand why this couldn't have been handled more smoothly as happens for instance if an extra shipping charge is necessary. In other words, just asking for approval for the substitute.
AS usual, I have always been able to get exactly the book I am looking for, Alibris has never let me down, so, Thanks everybody
As usual, I can always count on Alibris to have the book I am looking for. Well done!
You have added extra clicks that are unnecessary and not clear what purpose they serve. I ended up going round in circles because I was unsure what the $#*! was going on.
I will stop using you if this continues.
Many thanks. This is a very clear and efficient way to order good second-hand books. I look forward to receiving in good time. Keep up the good work!
Again, this has been a quick and easy way of obtaining used books that I need

Have a previous account with you with wish I am very satisfied and have recommended to many others. I used desk top pcs and tablets to place those orders. But finding it very difficult to place my order (i. E read text) as I placed this order on my comparatively small mobile phone.
A great shopping experience so far, with the exception of some rare cases when the books were returned to the seller for unknown reason, without me being notified to receive them.
For some reason I got into a cycle trap at the checkout and couldn't continue - not sure why - I started again from the front page and then it worked.
The site is easy to navigate, links from bookfinder work seamlessly and enable further examination of other copies etc. etc. It also convieniently stores address payment details etc.
Very smooth transaction, thanks. Well, what else is to be mentioned, perhaps some sesquipedalian words ought to fill up the minimum.
No fuss, no problems, so long as I can remember the password email combination. Many thanks.
The third copy of this book that I've ordered. Still waiting for my refund on the 2nd copy I ordered. Was going to be a Christmas present for a friend but unlikely to arrive in time now. Come on Alibris, sort it out!
Very poor service. You cancelled one of the books I ordered from you and then had the nerve to CHARGE me postage on sending an alternative copy. I have already paid postage on the first copy ordered so in effect I am paying TWO lots of postage for one book. AND I'M STILL WAITING FOR THE REFUND ON THE FIRST COPY CANCELLATION! COME ON ALIBRIS!
Generally good, though moving to the next stage in the purchase process occasionally required two or three clicks before anything happened.
I'm happy to have found a DVD copy of a movie I've wanted to see for some time. Straightforward to purchase.
With great care I have ordered two book from the same supplier, but there is no reduction in the shipping charge.
I am ordering a book from the US being shipped to the US, and am being charged International Shipping. I do not have an option to change this to domestic, but want to order the book, so I seem to be stuck.
Would not process my first credit card, despite it holding several thousands of Pounds Sterling (GBP) of credit on it, with less than circa five hundred GBP used on it (IE. It was not deficient of funds). I tried it three times, checking meticulously for input errors (there were none). I even changed my delivery and billing data, so that my middle initial was preset in both - it usually doesn't effect transactions online, but I tried it anyway... In the end, I had to use my MBNA card, which went through without issue... Except I just received a message from my card issuer, saying I have to resubmit my order, because they considered it suspicious. I authorised it by SMS but they still told me to do it again... You know, after four attempts to buy this book, and four failures of your payment process, I'm wondering if I made the wrong choice choosing Alibris (BTW, in at least one of the transactions, MBNA stopped it for being suspicious - Maybe Visa failed the other three for the same reasons, who knows). What I do know is: something is very, very wrong with your checkout systems (at best) - if after four tries, a customer in good standing can't buy a book for less than thirty bucks, because your checkout is either not fit for purpose currently, or my card issuer gets the sweats when dealing with it... Either way, should I try for a fifth time, or just go elsewhere?
Shipping cost charged when buying is twice as high as advertised
