Ordered a book from chegg when I was taking classes for my MBA. Apparently, I also selected a free study tool. I just noticed this month a charge for 124.95 on my credit card from chegg. I called my credit card company and they indicated I've been charged annually since 2013. The reason I noticed it this year is because I'm no longer using the credit card for frequent purchases. The past 3 years I did not notice because the card was a high use card. I called chegg and they note I did not use the service and it was pitched as free. So the free subscription was in 2012 but they started charging me in 2013 and charged annually until I complained this year. These types of free turned fee based subscriptions should not be legal. Since I didn't know about this, how could I have known to cancel it?

Extortion...
March 19, 2016

I happily paid the fee for my tutor, who was wonderful and I understand that its not uncommon to get signed up for subscriptions without ones knowledge but they charged me $30 every 2 weeks for a subscription I didn't even know I had and I didn't even sign up for a free trial, I signed up for pay as you go...

DO NOT SELL TO CHEGG
February 16, 2016

I sent 3 books to Chegg to sell after receiving confirmation. All 3 were received and I was paid for 2 of them. They have not paid me for the 3rd book and I have talked to customer service at least 4 times. Don't waste your time, sell to someone reputable- not Chegg. The few dollars more that they are offering is not worth it if they don't pay you.

DO NOT GO THROUGH CHEGG
February 10, 2016

DO NOT GO THROUGH CHEGG. I decided to sell my books through this site and I put 2 books in the same box. First off, it took me almost 2 months to get paid, and only reason I did was because I emailed them so many times about my books. Second off, they said they couldn't find my second book so I only got paid for one. This was their error because I sent them in the same box and their order numbers were the same.

I sold an accounting textbook to chegg, as they quoted the best price and seemed to be somewhat reliable. After calling in to their customer service after 4 weeks and not having received payment for my book, I was informed that they could not find my boook in their inventory system. I have the UPS delivery confirmation showing that they received the book and someone signed for it. Despite them having taken possession of my book, they hold me at fault for lost product in their warehouse system and refuse to pay me as promised. Keep in mind, I only have their word that my book did not make it into their inventtory system, they could easily have taken my book and are now claiming it was lost. Better off selling to your local school bookstore.

I have used all of the buyback companies, and this one is the absolute worst. The customer service is very very poor. Bait and switch (offer one price and pay another), lost books, lost account info, long wait times on hold, then customer service reps who can answer no questions. Avoid at all costs.

If you think you're going to save 20-30 bucks, just skip it and go to Amazon. I've bought countless books from them and have never had a problem. I'm very sure I had BOUGHT the book, as I always do. In fact, I bought TWO books from them. But apparently now, they claim I've rented one, so I must return the book that now is listed at 125$ that I RENTED for 90$! NINETY-F**KING-DOLLARS. When I tried to purchase it thinking I had made a mistake, they told me I had to pay an extra 115$! WHAT? More than 200$ for a book that is listed at 125$? This service just left me feeling like I had been in contact with the slimiest of slugs. Thoroughly disgusted.

Really, just go to a bookstore or order/rent from Amazon. Oh, the book the Mastering the World of Psychology (5th edition). Which is listed or rent from Amazon anywhere between 15-45$ but apparently costs you 78$ on Chegggggggggg, plus taxing and shipping.

What a $#*! service. I've ordered things from Russia and China, and never have I felt this disgusted.

Oh, their customer service could say nothing but "sorry for the confusion", like they had nothing else on their answer sheet. And the shipping costs... May as well stick their slimy hands in my pockets and rip out my wallet... and THEN some.

After conducting several internet searches on my homework and test topics this company name kept coming up as number one in my search engine. They appeared to have the assistance you are looking for and would supply you with immediate answers for a small fee. However, once you pay your money you do not get no answers just the same questions in your book. Buyer's beware... DO NOT FALL FOR THIS BULL! SCAMMERS!

I have had a chegg account for almost 6 months now, I mainly use the Q&A section, before they allowed several people to answer your question so there was a chance someone knew the right answer. Now you get one answer that some random individual makes up in the spot and your question is closed. I've gotten 100% wrong answers ever since, they want you to keep posting the same question so you use your monthly amount. I am really angry at these people don't waste your money!

The Textbook Solution service is terrible, most of the answers are wrong, many books are missing and they never answer any of your complaints. Simply stay away from this and save your money.

Chegg renewed an annual $75 fee last night, the problem is I haven't used Chegg in about two years. I called customer support and the man I spoke with was so nice and helpful! Once he found my information, he saw there was no activity on my account for over a year, so he just cancelled my membership and refunded my money! Easy as that! Normally to get refunds like this you have to yell, get mad and throw a fit. I didn't even really have to ask, he just did it for me! It was such a breathe of fresh air compared to how these calls typically go. Well done Chegg!

Waste of money and time
October 19, 2015

I could never find answers to questions, get answers to posted questions or all I get is a list of unrelated questions, I recommend to stay away from this Q&A paid web service. I would give 0 stars but it won't let me.

I signed up for a month. ALL the answers to my questions where TOTALLY WRONG! Yes, it was that bad that I have to virtually yell. Don't spend your money on this website. It's a rip off. I would give them NO stars as a rating, but unfortunately I have to at least give them one or else my review wont go through.

I used Cheggs tutoring sessions and they were a complete rip off and I learned absolutely nothing! These tutors don't explain anything but do the work for you. I suppose thats how they get their money in the amount of time you request them to help you in. Anyway, I was charged over $300.00 for getting help from this student based website. It's a total rip off and burden on any students pockets. I'm a full time student and mother so online tutoring is the most convenient form of tutoring I can use. Well at least I thought it was. Try going to the store and finding that your card is being declined because Chegg has randomly charged you with a ton of late charges for tutoring. That's completely unacceptable and embarrassing! I'm telling you now the only purchase you should make from Cheggs is your books, nothing more! When I asked for a refund I was shot down and they said they could do nothing for me. RUDE! Don't use Cheggs tutoring its another reason students go into debt!

I ordered 2 textbooks and paid $20 for expedited shipping. My textbooks just "weren't sent" and were claimed to be forgotten about. No tracking update was given and apparently the books just did not get sent out at all. I asked if someone could please send them and refund part of my payment given that I was now screwed for my class. I ended u canceling my order because nothing was offered. Awful service and I will never return. Very upset.

Who hires these people to answer the phone? Worst service I have ever received, the guy couldn't even talk properly and it was so hard to hear him. So I ordered 3 books in one order to rent but I needed to cancel one of the books because I ended up dropping that class and taking another one. So I called them the next day after I placed in the order that night and they wouldn't even cancel one of my books that hasn't even been shipped yet. Now two of the books I need have been shipped, but the book I don't need is still shipment pending. I don't get it. How hard it is to simply cancel one of the orders that hasn't even shipped yet. Apparently when I talked to the service rep over the phone, I have to "wait" until my book arrives and then I can ship it back with a "free" shipping label they will give me. Of course the costumer service rep didn't talk about that 5 dollar charge they take off from the price of the book for the shipping label. Money hungry fools. Now I have to wait at least 2 more weeks to get my partial refund and then I can buy the textbook that I need. Really frustrating since I'm a college student and broke af. But now I learned my lesson and will never buy or rent from Chegg again.
