I placed 2 orders online thinking that I would be billed in Canadian funds but instead was billed in USD since this is not a Canadian company. Furthermore, I cancelled the order right away and they still shipped it stating that it was a request for cancellation and not guaranteed. The order was placed on the weekend and their Customer Service is closed. I called on the Monday and was on hold for 20 mins until I got through and the rep was very unhelpful and the call was conveniently dropped.
I refused both shipments and had not received a refund almost 2 months later. Called and was told that I would be charged restocking but they would make an "exception". Crazy since I should have never even received the order.
I will never attempt to purchase from this company again.
My loud doorbell chime (made in China) has arrived on time but it was defective. It seem to have been a manufacturing defect. My emails to customer service we not answered. Eventually, I found a form on the website which was answered with about 1 week delay. The chime was replaced but it took about a month to get the working chime.
We appreciate this customer's feedback and we're sorry that we let him down. Our records show that the original order was placed on 6/13 and delivered on 6/20. A replacement was requested on 6/25 and delivered on 7/9, so there was a short delay, due to the US holiday. If there's an issue with a product when it's delivered, we stand behind our goods and we'll work to replace any parts or fixtures necessary.
I ordered all mainfloor chandelliers and pendant lighting for our new home build through Canadian Lighting Experts. Excellent. Not problems at all, Shipped to Canada. I am surprised to hear other negative comments here. First of all, all my lighting shipped from various U.S. locations from manufacturers. U.S. Price included Shipping and duties. I am thrilled and would recommend this site for lighting purchases.
As stated by many customers, in the fine print buried in the website it states item are sold in US dollars. Your credit card is charged in the day of the transaction, regardless of delivery delays. They also charge your credit card even though items are not in stock. I have been waiting two weeks for a refund for an order that should never have been applied to my card. I am a very unhappy customer.
Ordered a light fixture from this site, which said in ~30 in stock on the site. Little did I know it would be backordered for 3 months. Not to mention, every time I called in they pushed they date farther out. No apology from customer service or anything, it was terrible. The sales people are great, but when it comes to service/support they are abysmal, the WORST experience I have ever had with a purchase --- this SITE SHOULDNT EXIST.
The products are fine, but when you do the conversion you don't save anything. I called them and demonstrated that they were not competitive and after a long argument they adjusted the bill. But I won't deal with them again. Like others have said, these are highly questionable business practices.
I purchased an item online and questioned if the prices quoted were in US or CAD as the price was quite competitive. Finally, after 30 minutes of scouring the website found that the price quoted are in US dollar. That's right- Canada light8ng with maple leaf flags all over their site will charge you in US dollars. THEN as it's only been 1 day and the racking shows that my order has not progressed, I cancel the order online. Anyway, to fast forward, of course my product had already shipped and I would have to pay shipping back to the US to return the item. BRILLIANT... DISHONEST. STAY AWAY!
Return policy is one of the worst in the on-line industry. The $1,100 purchased chandelier was defective - half the sockets were not working and the bulbs would not stay in the sockets. It smelt like burning rubber when turned on.
When attempting to return they stated that we would be required to pay for shipping - back to the states... (so much for Canada Lighting). Final after many heated conversations with their staff they relented and agreed to pay for the return.
A refund was finally paid after several calls threatening to report Canada Lighting to Master Card. Refund was received 30 days after return.
Will shop with reputable online companies in future Amazon, Wayfair, Overstock) in the future
Canada Lighting should take advice from Amazon for customer service. The cost and inconvenience of returning a light fixture has made me return to the stores that have free refunds for lights that don't suit the space. I won't shop at Canada Lighting again.

Was not thrilled with the quality once we opened the box, expected more but received what looks like "cheap Chineesium". Also, this "Canadian" company charges you in USD, which is not advertised anywhere until you get to checkout...

We had many Canadian customers shop with us on 1Stop, but there were always questions whether products were CUL rated and could they be shipped to Canada. We wanted to create a site that featured only CUL products and products that were able to be shipped into Canada to make it easier for customers to shop.
We currently state we charge in USD during checkout, right above where you enter your payment info. It's also stated on multiple policy pages throughout the website. Always feel free to speak with our sales team as well to see if there are any promotions available.
95% of lighting products are made in China at this time. Unfortunately, that is not something we can control. But we do stand behind our products, and if something is damaged/defective, or if you don't like it, we'll replace it or take a return with no restocking fees.
These guys are a scam - they say "Canada lighting experts" but then they charge you in US DOLLARS without telling you! We didn't find this out until we saw our bank statement! We kept trying to get customer service to get answers, all we got was an answering machine! It took over a week to ship, which means we should have gotten at least a $25 discount - they didn't honor it! THEY ARE CROOKS - DON'T BUY!

I ordered two products from here and they delivered item safely and very carefully I was so happy with this site and I love this site much time I ordered and they never disappoint me.
I can't imagine anyone having anything bad to say about a company that kept in touch every day and stayed with me to the end. I felt a friendly and caring communication from Canada Lighting and truly, I would never order anything online without checking to see if Canada Lighting Experts had the item. I trust them completely!
They sent us two fixtures, both defective and not exactly as illustrated, they replaced the defective globes, but we could not get the parts replaced that didn't match the illustration. We elected to accept their offer of a return, but they refused to cover the $180 it cost to ship them back.
DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!
These guys are crooks they take your money and then they don't have the product and they don't want to give your money back. STAY AWAY
We're sorry you feel this way. If an item is out of stock, you always have the option to go on the waiting list or cancel. Refunds are issued within 24 hours of a cancellation request.
Really I felt happy with the service and communication with team. The Price was cool! And come back soon for another purchase

This company is terrible! A week after first inquiring about my missing online order, no one could tell me where my package was. I called 3 times and on two occasions they promised to get back to me but no one did. So I finally decided to cancel my order. The refund was short $40. When I called to ask why, they said to take it up with my bank. It was the fee for ordering and cancelling an international order (it is an American company). Heidi (customer service) said that since the item I purchased was on a promotion, it makes up for the lost $40. Im sorry, but that doesnt make me feel any better SINCE I DID NOT RECEIVE A PRODUCT! Terrible customer service. Canadians, stay away from this company.
I was a bit reluctant to purchase through the website as I had seen some negative reviews. I proceeded to take my chances, I am glad I did, I did not experience any issues at all, actually i contacted them for clarification on an item and they were super! The price shows in Canadian Dollars and charges USD and converts, which they advertise on the site. Mine did the conversion and was only pennies different, nothing seeing how much I was saving. I received my order last night, I couldn't be happier and I saved a lot! I will definitely purchase through them again :)
First of all, this cannot be called Canadian, they quote pricing in CAD and charge you in USD, so, I lost there an amount already.
They guaranteed product is in stock and as soon as I confirmed the order I got an e-mail back that my lamp is on back order. I requested a refund and with the conversion, I lost money again.
Answer: You will be hold for a long time and may even get disconnected. They never respond to emails

We appreciate this feedback and we're sorry we let this customer down. We try to state all of our policies clearly on our website, but we can't make every customer read them. We also freely state we're a US retailer on multiple pages of our site and that we charge in USD during the checkout process. If a cancellation is denied, our normal return policy applies. We state both in our return and cancellation policy that refused shipments are not recommended and can delay a refund and incur restocking fees. It's a hard balance as a retailer to meet expectations. If we don't ship fast enough, we let people down on the delivery time frame. If we can't cancel an order, because it was already shipping, then people are upset we couldn't stop the order. We do our best to take care of everyone. We're sorry again we let this customer down.
