BritBox garners mixed feedback, with many customers expressing appreciation for its diverse and engaging content, particularly in the realm of British television. However, significant concerns arise regarding the platform's technical reliability and customer service. Users frequently encounter issues with streaming interruptions, difficulties in canceling subscriptions, and unresponsive support channels, leading to frustrations over billing practices. The overall sentiment suggests that while the content quality is valued, the user experience is hampered by navigational challenges and inadequate assistance, prompting some customers to seek alternatives. Addressing these operational shortcomings could enhance customer satisfaction and retention.

Had an account with them and cancelled months ago as the content was rubbish.
Roll on to this month and there is a charge on my bank statement for Britbox. Contacted them and asked why they're continuing to charge me. After I confirmed all of my details they confirmed my account has been closed for months. However, they have then told me that the account linked to my debit card is a completely different name and email address.
When I responded to tell them this must be fraud as I've not authorised any payments to them other than the initial account I set up months ago they didnt want to know.
They responded to say due to the Data Protection Act they couldn't disclose any further information and to contact my bank. Thank goodness my bank have been helpful and understanding.
I expected more in terms of assistance with this issue seeing as Britbox is owned by two big corporations BBC and ITV.
If I could give you one piece of advice. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BANK DETAILS. Better still, do not sign up for anything with them. You'll regret it either way because the content is rubbish.
I started to subscribe to Britbox as I was bored with main stream TV during Covid 19 lockdown. The trouble with Britbox is there is nothing new... you get loads of old TV shows and what they call 'classic' movies. Most of the shows I've seen, occasionally there's a series or a one off that I've missed or perhaps hadn't seen the entire series, but that runs out real quick. So, unless you've missed huge amounts of BBC, ITV and Channel 4 you don't get anything new from Britbox. Fabulous series but they're old. Plus I for one do not want to see loads of soaps... there's masses of them or far too many.
I had to close a previous account due to multiple issues. I closed it after speaking to a rep AND cancelled the subscription through APPLE. BRITBOX (NOT Apple) still charged me the annual cost of a subscription and the account is CLOSED a week after I cancelled it. No one will return my emails or my phone call. DO NOT SIGN UP. IT IS A SCAM AND THEY WILL STEAL YOUR $$. Disappointing b/c I liked some of the shows
I had an account with them a couple of years ago. They didn't have the shows I wanted, so I cancelled. A week ago, I resubscribed through their iOS app. Somehow, their system got mixed up, however, and even though my apple ID e-mail and my e-mail on the original britbox account are the same, they didn't get connected, so when I tried to log in to watch anything, it didn't treat my subscription as real. I e-mailed their "customer service" a week ago. No response. I e-mailed them again. No response. I reached out over twitter, they promised an e-mail response and then didn't actually do it. I called them, and then sat on hold for 20 minutes listening to idiotic cutesy hold chatter until they threw me to an answering machine. I finally gave up, and am disputing the charge with apple. These people seem to just be interested in stealing people's money.
I have been trying to get a refund of an unused subscription for months now. Six times, waiting over an hour on hold each time, disconnected in the middle of the call twice (last one was today). Each time the agent says they need to get permission from their supervisor. Four times the supervisor was "not available". Twice the supervisor said they would make a one-time exception and I would receive an email confirmation and a refund. Both of those times, after receiving neither, I called back two weeks later to find that the supervisor has to "ask headquarters" and apparently had forgotten to. I doubt that there is a supervisor and I doubt that there is an HQ. They are just wearing me down so they can keep my $70.
Do not sign up for this "service". Its customer service does not exist.

If you're like me and live between 2 continents, don't think that you are going to be able to access your account in both North America and UK. I signed up in Canada, and on returning to UK have tried to access my account numerous times... after getting peed off again and again, as not able to access it or CANCEL it, I finally tracked down a number for them in Canada from the UK. Spoke to a very rude customer service advisor who told me it was my fault I hadn't called her sooner. There is no way to even access your account online TO CANCEL it once you leave the country that you signed up in! Absolutely ridiculous. Just a complete scam in my opinion.
WEB browser and android app seem to have the same problems positioning when switching episodes.
If the episode you want to switch to has been watched previously it is nearly impossible to stream it again.
Streaming itself works just fine once you position to where you want to go.
Superb choice of British programs. 4K would be excellent. I cannot fault the service. This has been a lifesaver during the lockdown. The film choice is poor but this is a TV streaming service so I did not expect any films at all.
Firstly - great content!
After that, it's not very good... Very poor app, very glitchy, failed several times requiring re-installation. Generally annoying...
I rarely review, unless something is fantastic or completely dire. Guess which category Britbox falls into. If britbox was a person, I would smash its face in. Not really, but wow, britbox is frustrating.
I am still on my free trial and I have cancelled it tonight. After reading reviews on here, they better not charge me!
Never managed to watch anything without buffering or crashing, that is if I can get on it in the first place.
Don't entertain it, life is too short.
No problems at all with the content, knew exactly what I was getting before I signed up.
What I wasn't expecting was not being able to resume where I left off - as I can with Amazon Prime. Or even being able to select say episode 3 of series 4, without having to forward wind through episodes 1 and 2 first.
Hopefully they'll get a grip soon and sort out this issue.
BritBox has a few glitches.
The first is that the streaming spends a lot of time buffering.
If you stop watching a show in the middle, the bird box will not take you back to the last show that you were viewing so you have to put everything on your watchlist
It would be great if viewers were allowed to leave reviews on individual shows. They have a lot of good content, but they also have an equal amount of stuff that I don't ever want to watch.
I was really impressed with how many programs available, but them on my list, all good, came to watch first choice, would not load, tried again this time loaded but will not fill my screen, half screen, even the program time and name does not disappear for the whole viewing time!, very disappointing for what could of been a very watchable site.
Hi I am in the USA and was excited to get this streaming app, I really like to watch the British shows. Each show will not automatically advance to the next episode. I could not find this option in the settings. To see the next episode I had to back out and click on the next episode. In order for this to work on my smart TV it was suggested that I subscribed to Prime video or Apple music/video. To many hidden costs. Disappointed. I canceled before my free 7 day subscription ended.
Keeps freezing, forgetting where you are up to, sound works but no vision. Terrible for scrubbing through a programme with the useless little dot at the bottom and no other fwd or rewind functions. Does not let you choose episodes eg go fwd one episode or back one easily. Hard to find where Season Episodes are listed. Lots of missing episodes in Doctor Who but you don't realise this as it does not list episodes in a story. Maddening! Could be so good but nothing like the technical prowess of Netflix, Prime or YouTube. Needs basics sorting before people like me give up on it when it comes to the payment stage. Free month is generous and new content appearing all the time in curated lists e. G you can watch Dr Who by monster, doctor or fan favourites. Great for older generation reliving childhood tv but not worth the fee in this poor state.
Britbox - the world's worst streaming service.
I have been having problems of one sort or another with this awful streaming site since day one. On 20th May, I contacted them complaining that all programmes are continually freezing, and if I try to use the fast forward button, absolutely everything freezes and I have to restart Britbox every time. The only response I have had so far is to wait... Their technical department will contact me if and when they have any solutions. Eight days later and I'm still waiting. The most incompetent and unhelpful company I have ever dealt with. Btw, my television is a fairly new smart tv. Netflix, I player, and ITV hub all work perfectly well. 1 have given 1 star simply because I am unable to give 0 stars.
UPDATE. It's now 12th July - nearly 2 months since reporting the problems - and they are still unresolved! What a joke.
I got this because Netflix was getting rid of the shows I liked.
Now that I have it I noticed that the seasons of shows are not all there, some have 3-4 episodes missing, not to mention some shows I like only have 4 of 8 seasons the other ones say you have to buy!
I didn't get this program to have buy other programs to see what I was supposed to get from Britbox.
If a series has 6 seasons I would think that you would get all, not some!
