BritBox garners mixed feedback, with many customers expressing appreciation for its diverse and engaging content, particularly in the realm of British television. However, significant concerns arise regarding the platform's technical reliability and customer service. Users frequently encounter issues with streaming interruptions, difficulties in canceling subscriptions, and unresponsive support channels, leading to frustrations over billing practices. The overall sentiment suggests that while the content quality is valued, the user experience is hampered by navigational challenges and inadequate assistance, prompting some customers to seek alternatives. Addressing these operational shortcomings could enhance customer satisfaction and retention.

Took out free trial but couldn't get programmes to play properly so cancelled. But they took money at the end of the free trial anyway. I emailed and complained, telling them I had cancelled. But they claimed not to have received the cancellation. And then - unbelievably - took another month subscription from my bank account! I am going to court to get my money back, as a matter of principle. Disgraceful and dishonest company.
I am on a free trial - it constantly crashes - have not managed to watch one single programme without it crashing
When it does crash it then doesn;t remember where I'm up to and either tries to play the episode before or starts at the beginning again
It's like the worst bits of BBC Iplayer (which is good) and ITVPlayer (which is awful) have been combined - hard to search in this thing. Maybe they should have gone with technology and user friendliness from BBC Iplayer - ITVplayer is awful - I guess at least that doesn't crash
I assume BritBox wants to compete with other streaming services such as Amazon Prime and Netflix. It needs a few tweaks to make it worthy of its excellent content. Worst is the difficulty returning to a show one has paused or left. It should be possible to return to the show in your Continue Watching location and to find it paused at the point where you left it. But when you return, you have to find your place from the beginning it's reverted to! This is very unsatisfactory. You may not remember where you left off, and will keep saying "I've seen this bit" and want to move on. Then the tiny button at the bottom of the screen is very tricky to find it with. You will probably have many attempts finding your place! There is an alternative: forget about the Continue Watching slot and scroll through where all the shows are listed and find yours again. There is a resume button to give hope. But, unfortunately it takes you back to the beginning of the show about 75% of the time so you're no better off. This is so frustrating, the more so because you have to fiddle your way past the show's introduction again. There should be a SKIP INTRO facility like Netflix, especially important when watching many episodes. Also like Netflix, there should be 20 second skip rewind and fast forwards facilities to make navigation within the show easier, whatever the reason. Add to this black screens with continuing audio and unsynchronised subtitles and this streaming app is way below the expected standard.
Online Britbox said you get a 30 day free trial., it is only 7 days for USA. Charge you after 7 days, no refund! Scam artists! Stay away!
I am losing patience with Brtbix half way through programmes it goes of sound quality is shocking
Generally very disappointing.
No problem with any other streaming.
After weeks of complaining of being unable to subscribe still no better have tried 4 different emails and my husbands details each time says email already in use. Impossible! Am giving up especially after reading all the poor reviews.
This streaming channel basically serves up old (at times ancient) BBC and ITV programmes. It is quite cheap so I guess you get what you pay for, My wife is an Eastenders fan and THAT is the ONLY reason we keep the subscription.
They must have worked hard to make the UI this bad. Why did they not just use the BBC iPlayer UI? That is quite good. Equally they could have used the UI from Acorn. That is really quite good too.
The above coupled with near non-existent customer service makes BritBox something the steer clear of.
Do not trust any company that refuses to allow you access to your info. When asked to delete my credit card information by phone, I was told "we don't do that". I then mentioned California law requiring them to remove my info at my request and was told "We still don't do that". This is NOT a trustworthy company. If you MUST sign up for them, do so through Amazon so Britbox doesn't have your payment info, which they obviously can't be trusted with.
ANY company that is reputable should allow customers to permanently remove their own data WITHOUT jumping through any hoops. ANY company that refuses to do this is shady. ANY company that refuses even WITH jumping through hoops is just criminal.
Signed up directly with Britbox after a temporary trial was offered on Amazon Prime. Everything was fine on Amazon, but once I signed up directly on Britbox, severe issues with audio quality and poor video quality. Audio sounds like its very tinny and not even stereo. Asked them if I could switch my subscription to Britbox through Amazon, and they said no, so I'm stuck for a year with a subscription that provides horrible quality.
Content created by the BBC, funded by licence fee's should be on iPlayer.
It is outrageous the BBC is charging licence holders who paid for this content.
Britbox is a pile of absolute rubbish. Got half way through a series, but this was not without numerous technical difficulties, as many times while I was watching, the sound would turn off, the screen would go black, and every time I tried to rewatch an episode because it had randomly paused because of the poor quality, it wouldn't work. The horrendous quality makes me question why anybody would waste their money on this rubbish. Thankfully, I'm still only on the 30 day trial. Look for a better streaming service to spend your money on, as I would absolutely not recommend Britbox. £5.99 a month is a complete rip off for this rubbish.
I looked forward to Britbox and am disappointed in how poor their technology is. Navigating the site, finding the shows and then paging through season after season until I get to the current episode is a constant frustration! Try checking out Amazon Prime, whose site is very used friendly.
We had BritBox for a couple months but the content was lacking so we went to cancel it. I had a hard time finding on the site where I needed to go to cancel so I phoned in and spoke to someone in customer service. They emailed me and told me my subscription had been cancelled. 2 months later I discovered that they were still charging my visa card so I contacted them again and was given proper instructions for cancelling the account but they refused to refund the 2 months charges even though I had an email saying my subscription was cancelled 2 months earlier from them.
Worst customer service ever!
A lot of money has been spent launching the service
Before that was done the developer is best advised to make sure the application runs and invest in customer care which in my experience is appalling.
On launch up comes error message 'video is error' and that applies to everything.
Nothing launches
The problem is most evident using Amazon Fire not that 'support' seem to care.
Avoid at all costs and cancel any subscription urgently.
Subscription for ancient stuff, regularly repeated, and no search engine before subscription!
Everything's trying to get you to subscribe nowadays - Sky, Netflix, Amazon, music streaming - even limited interest services like Disney!
Why would anyone pay money for old rope? Much of which is repeated on iPlayer/ITV Hub or free on UK Gold, etc.
I created 2 accounts without activating the free trial so I could actually search for programmes, but neither can be signed in and password resets do nothing!
App easy to down load on smart tv. Had trouble knowing where to put in activation code. Rang help line. Instant answer. Guided to www.britbox/code put in code. Connected with tv almost immediately. Happy!
Got this with the 30 day free trial, which I thought was an extremely generous trial - now I know why. Simply cannot get it to work on either of my Samsung TV's, despite them being under 2 years old. I've got the app on one of them however it directs you to the site to input a code but there is absolutely nowhere on the site to input it and I've spent around an hour looking.
Works on my phone and tablet but the sound quality is so poor I have to run it through my speaker. I'll keep it for the trial but never would I pay for this, it is absolutely dire.
Great selection of programmes to watch but always something wrong with the app itself. After watching one programme and it goes to skip on to the next it comes up video error, in the mornings I put my tele on and goto watch something it comes up video error, it's an absolute nuisance i defiantly won't be paying monthly for it.
I signed up, to access the 30 day trial you're forced to leave your card details.
The programming quality is poor, frankly - tired old british TV programmes.
Then - I forgot to cancel, which is why they make you leave your card details. Only unlike most subscription based services that work in this way, Britbox doesn't refund under those circumstances.
