The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

Booking.com is a scam company. If you care about your travel experience, your pocketbook, and your sanity, do not use them under any circumstances. They will tell you it is the hotel's fault, but they are 100% to blame.
Booking.com has been irresponsible about their pricing and quality of property they offer. I had very bitter experience more than a couple of times. And they don't respond, and I quit them from now and on.
One example, I paid Rs 7,660 for this filthiest hotel in Mysore for one night. An I didn't stay there, and the owner or booking.com never bothered to refund the money. I paid this money for just looking inside the hotel room for an hour. We felt vomiting and left the place by paying this money.
Second one shows in Trivandrum, I booked for a price, and owner of property said I need 3 times the price mentioned in booking.com
In brief, I quit this third rates site forever.
Poor customer service! Had a extremely bad experience after booking Lloyd's on the river in Bryson city NC. After providing pictures of the dirty sock found in the bed. After arriving at 6:20pm to be told that my room wasn't clean or ready for me. So by the room not being clean and finding the dirty socks, it shows they just made the bed(NOT) changing the sheets, and gave me the keys. I called booking for my refund to be told that they was sorry and would contact the property. I contacted the property for my refund and was told they would refund one night as I stayed longer than 30 mins the first night. I wasn't there for even 30 mins as the room wasn't cleaned and nasty. I've used booking for 5yrs now and this is the worst service I have ever had. I don't believe I will be using booking any longer! Booking can see that I had to leave as I had to purchase another hotel for my weekend stay! Sad and the WORST customer service ever!
I booked a flight and have to cancel it. They refunded me very difficult and after a long time. And not even the whole amount. Never again use Booking.
They keep finding excuses not to honour their price match claim (just 5 pounds...), and start not responding. For example, they said if I book through hotel directly, "will be charged directly by Booking.com". Completely blown my mind.
Booked a hotel in Dallas TX using Booking.com
They had no info on my reservation even though I had my confirmation number. "Sorry, were full, no rooms available" Never again will I trust this site.
Cheaters and liars. They promised a free shuttle for the reservation >150 euros. After the payment the option dropped, and they started declaring the minimum price for that was 300 euros.
An awful customer service, that was balancing me to the different sources of info, eventually declared a new minimum price for shuttle - 450 euros.
Disrespectful liars, to be avoided by any cost.
I got tickets to go to a Pet Expo and was told by Booking.com that the hotel they booked me with was pet friendly. It is not. I had to call them about something else, and the hotel desk informed me that they do not accept pets. I tried to cancel my reservation, but never could get a working phone number for Booking.com. The number for customer service kept asking me for my Confirmation number, which I gave them, but it just kept repeating the request for my confirmation number. I finally gave up. Now I guess I'm going to have to pay a big fee which I can ill afford, along with not being able to attend the Pet Expo. I will never trust Booking.com again, nor will I go through them for any future reservations!
Update - Booking.com responded that they are contacting the hotel to try and process a refund - As I pushed the button to book, my company informed me that I would not be able to take my vacation. I canceled within an hour of the booking, would have done it sooner but it was impossible to get back on the site. And they are charging me the full amount for my booking. I realize this is their policy but it was such a short period of time. You would think they would be more flexible with that. I would rather pay more and have better customer service for my future hotel bookings.
BOOKING.COM SUCKS... the printed booking confirmation is a waste of paper, they don't even recognize their own confirmation number let alone the hotel property. And NO Human can be reached without that number... Classic definition of CATCH 22. Can we sue the spokes person for false advertising?
Very unprofessional & terrible service! They lack transparency & need to work on their customer service. Will never use their services ever again!
I used this website to book a 1 nights stay at the Holiday Inn Resort Orlando Suites - Waterpark, an IHG Hotel. This has been the most disturbing, disappointing experience of my life. This hotel looked fun to take my daughters to and was supposed to check in this afternoon. Unfortunately my daughters and I were up all night with flu like symptoms and tested positive for covid 19 this morning. I contacted booking.com customer service and also the hotel directly as I did not want to expose other innocent children and families. Due to their policy, both the hotel directly and booking.com could not cancel the reservation even after speaking to supervisors on both sides. They had me email them the positive covid test and all required information but then came back saying there is nothing they can do. I then drove very ill with my daughters to the hotel as we could not get it cancelled after exhausting all efforts. Poor kids and families in the lobby were forced to be exposed to covid by us coughing and extremely sick clearly. The woman at the front desk was able to get us a refund after speaking with her manager I'm guessing in the back. This all could have been resolved way before it got to this point and I hope people read this before using this service as it goes against humanity and protecting the health of others.
I made a booking that had a msg saying that I would not be charged until 5 May and no fee cancelations until 7 may
I was charged on the same day. The next day I cancelled the booking and booking does not want to refund me saying the hostel I booked have a non refundable policy.
The matter is that on the booking.com page it says that I could cancel with no fee as you can see on the photo attached
I booked a trip to Sevilla where my car rental was booked via booking.com. They had a very fair deal of a mid size car for a little bit over 250 euro for 18 days. I also bought my full insurance from booking.com for 100 euro. Fair enough!
When we late night arrive to the subcontractor OK Mobility, I gave them my voucher of my deal with Booking.com. Yes, the car was no problem. No, the insurance was not valid. I tried to argue of course, but it ended with that if I would like to have the car, I needed to pay OK Mobilitys insurance. I paid the insurance, 370 Euro, almost twice the cost of the car! Hilarious!
Back in Sweden again, I contacted of course booking.com and demanded my 370 extra euros back from them, because booking.com sold me an invalid insurance. I was of course ok with the initial 100 euro insurance booking.coms costed me.
When I finally got an answer, booking.com hide behind several legal terms and said I should have called them up so they could have talked to OK Mobility. Well, have any one of you tried to CALL Booking.com? Close to midnight! Completely pointless. They are sorry for my troubles, but any kind of refund is out of the question. They should pay back my initial 100 euros for the invalid insurance they falsely sold me. Thanks booking.com!
Conclusion: Never trust boken.com. Never do any kind of business with them, since you have no chance to get right against them. Stay out of any of there so-called services. Don't use the at all. Then you can be safe.
Roger from Sweden
Booked a hotel threw them got there was overbooked. No refund. I have emailed back and forth sent everything and still no money. Horrible customer service
Trying to work with customer service rep for months to resolve a tech issue. No results. Horrible!
Booking.com is great as long as all goes as planned! If it doesn't, then you are on your own! After sending multiple notes to customer service, I realized I was dealing with Robots.
I finally had a call make it through to a woman in the Philippines (Yes I asked her where she was). The reason why I asked is that she could not understand me and I couldn't understand her. She asked if I could speak another language than English!
The very scarry thing is that these days so many accommodation providers go through Booking.com.
If there is anyway you can go direct instead, I recommend you do - but sadly it's often not even possible.
Arranging for taxi service with Booking.com at Miami International was a HUGE mistake! First we were texted by "someone" who never referenced Booking.com and said he would be our driver a couple of days in advance of our trip, Gave us a bunch of directions, NONE of which jived with the instructions Booking.com gave us about how to meet with our driver at our destination airport. Then a few hours in advance of our arrival we received an e-mail from Booking.com naming a completely different driver name who would pick us up. Neither driver arrived according to the Booking.com instructions we were provided with. We were stranded after pre-paying our taxi fee ROUND-TRIP! Thanks for nothing Bookings dot com! I will be disputing the credit card charge since we did not receive the services we paid for, And received a lot more aggravation than we bargained for. I will be posting this feedback on Trip Advisor you can be sure!
I have booked over 20 hotels through booking.com and very very rarely have I paid at the property, the 'total price' listed on my booking.com reservation. This past weekend between 2 hotels, I paid an additional $60.00 for one night stay at each property. As well, the 'money' in my 'wallet' seems to disappear without any kind of explanation where it was 'spent'. Not a great rewards program at all. I will be booking direct from now on as I see no benefit whatsoever with booking.com. I will be removing all credit card/personal information from my account.
Customer service is shocking. Booked a hotel for 2 nights as it stated that it had a bar to find when we get there that it is shut, we choose this hotel over a previous hotel we had stayed at before in the same town to experience a different place, wish we hadn't now. Come back from a day sightseeing and have to sit in our room and have a drink from a supermarket, ot my idea of a relaxing break. No empathy what soever and still not changed the information on the hotels details
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: booking.com has horrible customer service. Don't use them.
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: Can you please explain why you think Booking.com is not trustworthy please?
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
