The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

I booked a stay through booking.com at a hotel in winthrop, wa. About 3 or 4 weeks before the date of the stay, I tried to cancel. They said they were going to charge me for the whole stay even if I didn't go. It gave me the option to request for them to waive the cancellation fees. So I explained how my wife went into preterm labor, and was now on bed rest so we weren't able to go anywhere. They sent me an email back within 20 minutes pretty much saying that it wasn't a good enough reason and they weren't able to make an exception.
Hi I had book this hotel in May of this year for a 3 stay in August. I mistakenly assumed I could cancel the hotel for free up until 2 weeks from the arrival date. Sadly I was mistaken. The booking company and the hotel have been giving my husband and I the run around for a refund. We are going to lose 898 dollars because neither Booking.com or the manager at Kennebunk Inn will not return our money. Be careful when booking!
I recently booked hotel accommodation through Booking.com for a stay in August 2017. I subsequently received a message from the property via the Booking.com website regarding this booking, but without providing any confirmation or reference number, and with no mention of dates, room type or meal plan. When I emailed Booking.com to request confirmation of these details, I received an automated reply asking for the confirmation number of my booking. After repeatedly pointing out that I do not have a confirmation number, although I do have a booking, I continue to receive the same automated response from Booking.com.
It appears that Booking.com is either unwilling or unable to deal with customer enquiries on an individual basis, instead resorting to an irrelevant, automated reply which fails to address the issues raised. People will judge for themselves whether this is the kind of service that they expect of a reputable company.
I have a made a reservation from booking.com at June 2nd for my stay on June 24th.
I received a call on June 24th from booking.com stating that the hotel was fully booked and that I will be relocated to another hotel. The hotel I got relocated to was 30 MILES away from where I wanted to stay and was a 3 star hotel rather than the 4 star hotel I booked. There was also a single queen bed rather then 2 queen beds I have initially booked. I want to stress that I got notified of this change literally on my way to the hotel, the day of my stay.
When I contacted customer services about this asking for a refund, they said there wasn't anything that they could do and this wasn't a problem on their half. It is quite clear to me that this was a problem not because of the hotel but because of booking.com's services. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE OVERALL, EVEN WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE GO WITH EXPEDIA IF YOU HAVE TO.
I can't believe they made me pay 194 dollars for one night's worth of stay in a hotel I didn't book at, in another town.
The good news is I got a hotel rm where many did not.
Their website states I would pay at the hotel - not true - payment was processed by B.Com
Their policy states I would be able to pay w/ a different credit card at the hotel if it was one they accepted - not true - payment was processed by B.Com
No phone # to contact them with any issues / questions - no customer service line
First and LAST Time I will use them
Dont trust booking.com its trash. We made a reservation and when we got to the hotel they said they didnt have any information about the reservation. We paid before and we ended up losing all of our money booking.com is a complete scam ok bye
I listed, LISTED, my condos with Booking.com. I entered taxes, cleaning fee, security deposit, amenities, and payment information on my page. When I went live, only cleaning fee and amenities were listed, NOT taxes, security deposit, or payment information. I do not run a hotel. I do not have a front desk to accept payment on site. Within minutes, I received several reservation confirmations with incorrect pricing and pay at check in.
Booking.com told me I had to honor what THEY choose to post on MY page. After speaking with Booking.com account rep., she agreed to post those charges and payment information in "The Fine Print" section. "The Fine Print" do not reflect in the $PRICE guests see, and guests do not get to see it until they booked.
I'm also told by some guests that their credit card is charged and no refund. And cancellation charge is ridiculous.
Other sites may have issues, but they're more honest when it comes to charges and cancellations.
AWFUL COMPANY. TOTAL SCAMMERS. NEVER EVER USE THEIR SITE GUYS. BE AWARE ALL REVIEWS ARE FAKE. We booked hotel for one week and paid in advance. When we arrived it was very scary, dirty, ugly place. No one normal can stay there. Completely different from website photos. We tried to contact booking.com their was that nothing is different from original photos. We are going to take this matter to court as soon as we arrive back home. We recorded videos, took hundreds of photos. They put fake comments on their website.
It seems as though booking.com is giving one total before you book the hotel, and then later they end up charging you extra after you ALREADY BOOKED. And then they refuse to refund you. Please please do not use this service. They are snakes. Will never use again.
On the phone with booking.com listening to some guy who doesnt speak English trying to explain to me they cannot offer me a refund, little did he know I was standing in the lobby of the hotel WHO NEVER EVEN HAD MY NAME OR RESERVATION IN THEIR SYSTEM!
If I could give booking.com 0 stars I would! My husband and I went out of town for our one year anniversary. We booked our hotel through booking.com. When we arrived at the hotel and I went to check in they did not have our reservation. They asked who we booked through and I told them booking.com. When they heard that they said the majority of the reservations from booking.com never get sent to them. We were luckily able to get the last room at the hotel. I will NEVER book with booking.com again!
I called the number of the Monte Carlo inn in Brampton, hoping for the best price but unknowningly was redirected to booking.com. I was offered the so called lowest rate of $93 per night for 7 nights for a whirlpool room without the option of cheaper rooms, so I booked. One day after confirmation booking.com was offering rates of $75 down from $83. So I was given the expensive room without a choice so their commission would be larger. Never again with booking.com.
Went to a Hotel named Oceans Beach Resort in Pompano Beach Fl. When I booked it said it was a non guaranteed reservation and should I not like the Hotel I could cancel within 24 hours before making the booking. Well since it was last minute, I called Bookings.com to confirm before booking that if I did not like the Hotel would I still be responsible for paying if I do not stay. They confirmed that although it was not 24 hours ahead of time that it would be okay to do that. Well I got to the Hotel and the Rooms were disgusting and after viewing came back to the front reception, told the lady whom checked me in what I thought about the room being inadequate and that I would be calling my sister to stay at her place in Boca because I would not be staying there.
I wake up the next morning to find out she was trying to call me on my cell phone for confirmation of cancellation but my cell phone was dead and recharging all night. I called in and they told me because I did not answer my phone they put the booking through. I argued that I told the woman I was not staying the night before but she and her manager still decided to put my cc payment through. The lady I spoke to who checks people in, in the morning told me she never puts card through when a customer refuses to stay but that other staff members are know to do it anyway and this is a common practice for them. Disgusting way to treat people and I hope whoever reads this review stays away from the Hotel but more importantly STAY AWAY FROM BOOKINGS. COM because they do not back the customer up at all and side with the Hotel to Rip You Off.
Booking.com supports Hotels that scam. The 'Inn' on Big Island, Hawaii has beautiful charming, pictures, breakfast included. All deceptive. Fraud. Charged before we arrived, the 'Inn' sent us to a different place in scary section of Hilo with a windowless basement room, only a screen door to the outside and KEEP OUT, NO TRESPASSING signs all over the building, no breakfast, no parking. Fearing our safety and our car's, we left after 20 minutes. We notified Booking.com. Booking asked proof of our stay, we had pictures, the owner's business card. Booking replied the owner reported us as 'no show'. Our pictures meant nothing. No refund for us! Booking said owner had "substantial proof"? Our pictures meant nothing. Checking more deeply, others had same complaint as us on Booking reviews. So Booking allows hotels to bait and switch.
Very clean, includes breakfast, big pool and hot tub. Great helpful staff! Right next to the blue line, as well as a great shopping center with a ton of shopping and food.
A while back I booked a hotel in London with booking.com when we arrived they said I had booked twice. I told them I hadn't and had proof but after a long battle I gave in. Cost me over £100. I should habe known better than to book with them again. But I booked a hotel on Malta. Cancelled it as we found a private villa. I had email saying it was cancelled and not heard another thing. Today I looked at my bank account and I habe been charged over £780 o phoned booking.com took them 20 mins to answer. I was told I had rebooked it a week later! I did not and I have no emails to suggest I did... DO NOT BOOK WITH BOOKING.COM. They are a con. I will be fighting this... if this has happened to you I suggest you fight it too
Working at a hotel I have never had such a headache than dealing with booking.com. I'm sorry but do.not.use. Too many issues. No one speaks English in customer service. And they do not follow their own policies which makes no sense. They have ripped off my company and my guest too many times for me to have anything nice to say. Call the hotel directly, and if you're not computer savvy have someone else do it who is. Know what you're booking before you book. It's not as easy as it looks when your family member suddenly dies and you can't get your 400$ back because that's how they are. And if the hotel is nice enough to let you cancel, then the hotel is out of that money. It's a lose lose situation. Take my advice! If I had to choose any 3rd party site to deal with, it would be Expedia, and I have saw much better rates come through with Expedia anyway.
The fine print at the bottom of hotels that state( when you hover the mouse over the photos of credit/debit cards accepted) that the hotel reserves the right to temporarily hold an amount prior to arrival! Surely this wording means that they can take money and hold it! This is on all the hotels that state in green that no prepayment necessary and no cancellation cost if cancelled by a certain date. I had no joy when I contacted booking.com to clarify this. Can anyone please assist.
This is now the second issue I have had with these unprofessional bunch of morons, tried to cancel a booking with more than 48 hours notice and they said it cant be done, I will still be charged. The customer service agent on the phone hung up on us, fantastic customer service. First issue was 2 years ago when we were lied to regarding parking at a hotel in York, we were refused entry to the hotel and were still charged and were told no refund would be given. We were told it was free parking, when challenged where the free parking was we were told there was limited spaces and there were no spaces left. I was told I would have to park on double yellow lines across the road. I wouldn't give them any stars, I will never use this company again, fraud and robbing customers. I don't know how you sleep at night. Stay Well Clear!
I booked 2 stays with booking. It was the first time I had use the site. Neither hotel had our reservations which I had paid for in advance. I had to call to get them to contact the site with the booking information. It made check in a long process after a long day on the road. I will personally never book through this site again.
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: booking.com has horrible customer service. Don't use them.
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: Can you please explain why you think Booking.com is not trustworthy please?
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
