On SmartCustomer, businesses may not offer incentives or pay to remove reviews. Learn more about our Review Guidelines.
The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

They play it off like you are dealing directly with the hotel. They are a 3rd party so if you need to make a change there is nothing they can do. Book direct!
My dad thought he booked one room, and we he arrived, he was charged for two! We could not get the a refund, because it's impossible to talk to someone! Why is this legal? Why can't you do business and help people instead of your criminal practices?!?
I had the worst experience with booking.com. They have horrible customer service. I was told after multiple calls with them that I would be issued a full refund. 10 days later nothing. We didnt even get to stay in the room we booked, we had to find another room elsewhere, this has cost me about 500$ and the issues still arent resolved.
Buyer beware of tactical lower prices of dates one day before or one day after. Horrible customer service, laughed that I didn't pay attention.
You have been warned! Do NOT use booking.com! Been waiting on a refund of over 2100. 00. 5 weeks now, for the dump motel I booked thru Booking.com. Cancelled the booking thru them, and owner of motel will not return phone calls either! Makes you wonder if they aren't all in cahoots?
Since booking.com started to handle all payments you don't have any influence what they do to you. They do refunds without permission and you can not do anything about it. It did happens twice now to us. We called them and we talked 1 hour to about 4 agents than we gave up. They accused it was our fault und we hit the "wrong" button. They treated us as if we were $#*!ed!
They are not supporting hoteliers only the costumers.
They give costumer's too much power. They can leave almost every review they want. A bad review is almost not to compensate. You can have four excellent 10 scaled reviews. Only one bad review will put you down again.
I hope there will be soon another platform so we can change.
I always used their app for booking hotels which is very simple to use. I was always happy, because I never had any issues. Until I booked a hotel that was in the worst condition and oppositie of what they advertised on booking.com and I needed their help. Not only was it very difficult to find their contact details, there was no way I could reach them. Called over and over but the line was always busy and when on hold you can wait forever. I never got through. I emailed them several times, but 5 months have passed and I never received a reply. While keeping a close look on this scam resort, I started to notice how they received their 5-star reviews, as it's their staff and friends who post the reviews. For example, their photographer on Instagram (who lives at the resort and has been with them for well over a year apparently) has left 3 reviews of 5-stars (a 10). So you really can't (always) really on a good overall score apparently. I will avoid Booking.com. $#*!tiest company to deal with.
Me and my family drove 22 hrs no sleep for at the last minute have our hotel cancelled because of a flood when was no flood, have gotten police involved because our money was taken thank God we will get the money back but we still are forced to spend money on another hotel don't believe any stay at sand lake reserve drive Orlando Florida they are residential suites not vacation stays (lake vue).
Made a reservarion and booking charged me the full price, however, when I arrived to the hotel the hotel denied receiving any payment from booking.com, and charged me again.
I called booking.com never received any help just talking to some Indian people who don't care.
Horibble customer service. One night costed me $320 WITH BOOKING AND $300 WITH THE HOTEL. I NEVER RECEIVED REFUND FROM BOOKING, AND THEY FAIL TO SHOW ME PROOF OF PAYMENT MADE TO THE HOTEL.
Your hotel cancels before your arrival just a few days so now you have to pay double? They steal money from your bag in a locked hotel room being agressive with you so basically you need to escape from there and being threatened to call police on you in the middle of asia?
No problem.
Their answer go back and pay full price, no opportujity be charged on your credit card.
If they beat you? No problem, just pay, pay, pay.
I wanted to up grade my room to a jacuzzi room, could not make the change through the hotel had to call booking.com. DO NOT USE BOOKING.com! Recording kept asking for my confirmation number which I kept putting it in and pressing #, did this for 20 min. Numerous times. I didn't get the jacuzzi room. Very disappointed! Crap company! Never again!
Absolutely gutted about our experience, driving down from Brisbane, organised time off work for this weekend we had been looking so forward to, Mother Nature had other plans with very heavy rain, flash flooding and road closures we were unable to make it down, we rang through still very early on to let them know we can't make it down and are we able to reschedule and change the date, they could not have cared less, just take our money with no compassion about people's circumstances, very disappointed
Bought 9/11 memorial tickets bought as they stated E-TICKETS WERE ACCEPTED but they are NOT! I contacted them asking for refund but they are refusing! I will keep going till I get the money which is rightfully mine back! Stay away from these people! Rude when contacted! Scammers...
Booked a motel on line in St. Petersburg Fl. When I got to the place a Budget Inn, it was a Dump in a Very Bad Area. I was driving an expensive car (427 Cobra) with no top. I went inside to Cancel the Reservation the people at Budget Inn said they Could Not Help. Trying to Call Booking dot com was a Joke. After trying for 45 minutes trying to Cancel the Reservations I gave up and called American Express. I was told "Sir, No Problem Well Take Care Of It". At this point Booking Dot Com is Still Trying To Charge My AE Card. (3 months) Saying I was a "No Show". Hell I Showed Up But Refused To Stay In The Dump.
I booked a reservation through booking.com for a hotel in Orlando, when I got there that hotel gave my room away, despite them having me on file and me showing a confirmed reservation from booking.com for a queen room. They told me they simply don't have that room or any queen rooms available and refused to tell me why my confirmed room was no longer available! (because they gave it away that's why) They downgraded me to a Full size bed and then proceeded to tell me that because I booked through a third party they cannot offer any refund. I went to Booking.com and explained the situation, and they refused to provide a refund, despite the inconvenience to my wife and I sleeping on a bed smaller than could fit us. it was an uncomfortable and unsatisfying experience and not what we paid for. Booking.com is interested in your money and that's it, they don't know the meaning of the word customer service, it's as foreign to them as the concept of customer satisfaction. Proceed with them at your own risk, don't expect any help if anything goes sideways, you are very much on your own. You have been warned!
BUNCH OF COWBOYS. Please read all the reviews about them before even attempting to book through www.booking.com. A shameful service, they are offering various deals, upon booking with them, which actually cannot be materialised. For my booking they advertised that on my booking of over £300 there will be a free airport Taxi, nothing was mentioned under terms and conditions. Upon getting the hotel accommodation, when we tried to book the Taxi then we found out that a minimum 48 hours notice was required to avail that offer. The customer service advisors are highly untrained, when they find out that they cannot sort out the problem, they simply put the phone down. So, in essence, an offer, which we cannot avail and have to pay for our trip from Airport to hotel, absolutely dreadful experience. I have now canceled my account not to deal with these jokers again.
I book a room for 6 nights with BOOKING.COM, then i received an e mail telling me that my card was declined. Then the hotel contact me, to ask me to provide another card detail or my booking would be automatically canceled. I could not provide another card. Then the day of my booking arrived, i did not come to the hotel. Booking.com inform me that the hotel made me pay for my reservation, all At once my card worked. I explained the situation to booking.com, i did not have any answer!
RUN away from this site!
The site says you pay for your hotel when you arrive. They are not truthful. Once they get your card number they then forward it to the hotel as a non refundable non changeable reservation and you are charged the amount immediately. They will then stop communicating.

A complete ripoff and I will never use this site again. I was looking for accommodation near Northampton so I typed in "Guilsborough, Northampton" and it brought back results in what I thought was that village. So I booked a room in a country pub. An hour later my wife told me the post code was near Middlesbrough! So I quickly cancelled it and they took my £60 as a cancellation fee! Their search engine isn't very good and I complained by email and all they said was contact the hotel. It wasn't their fault I booked in error, no customer service, poor quality site so my advice is find another site
Giving you 1 star is being generous, I booked a hotel with you guys. Chose the pay when you're at the hotel option since I have a busy work schedule and pay at the hotel secures me, and I do need to pay an extra fee to pay by the hotel. But you guys charged me immediately and when I tried to cancel they said according to the "hotel's policy" you can't cancel the booking. So basically you guys are doing false advertisement, I paid for something which I didn't sign up for and now I didn't even end up going to that hotel and I have to pay for the hotel? This is a SCAM!
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: booking.com has horrible customer service. Don't use them.
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: Can you please explain why you think Booking.com is not trustworthy please?
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
