Booking.com Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

I have been booking hotel rooms through booking.com for a long time now and I have no complaints. Once money was deducted by booking.com after I paid in cash at the hotel but it was then refunded within 15 days of complaining.

Booking.com advertised bermuda.com for our vacation promising a rate for a pool side room which I was not given. The room had roaches. Black Mold. Stined sheets and pillows. NO phone. Someone tried to break in on us. I called the police. Drugs being sold and smoked on the property and prostitutes. Loud music. Our ceiling was falling apart. No phone in the room. I send booking.com photos and they did nothing to try to help me re-coup our money. All hotels were sold out and there were no other rooms. I wanted and tried to check out early and was told they would still be charging me. DO NOT USE BOOKING.COM

I had a booking which I cancelled via the app. The day of the booking I receive an email from the hotel saying I am a no show. I contacted the hotel saying that I cancelled the booking and they told me they weren't notified. I called booking (twice) to resolve the problem and told me that I hadn't cancelled the reservation. I told them I did it and that is why it wasn't shown as an active booking on the app. Which it wasn't for months. I asked them how they explain that and they told me, really rudely, "madam you probably didn't understand it well". I told him I am not stupid and I will like to talk to his supervisor. He told me no and in the end hung up on me.

I will never book with booking again. Ever. I got charged almost 500 euros for their mistake.

Do not use this website. Absolutely despicable. Will not issue a refund of 800 for accommodation in amsterdam during covid 19 as we did not let them know that we had to cancel. We did email the hotel and they were aware of it, plus no flights were going into or out of amsterdam but on their system we are seen as a NO SHOW so as a result cant issue a cash refund. I have asked to speak with a manager, still waiting on that phone call. I remember back in march, alot of advice was given from consumer experts during this time advising us not to cancel as you wont get a refund. Wait for the hotel/ airline to cancel. Which is what we did. Had another holiday booked but straight with the resort and they issued a refund without any hassle.

Booking.com refuses to acknowledge that I cancelled a reservation. Even though the venue and I agreed that I would forfeit a 10% fee, months after this correspondence Booking.com continues claim that I was a "no show." I will never recommend this service to anyone. If there is a way to escalate my complaint up the managerial ladder I would gladly do so, but internet services obscure such recourse options.

I booked my vacation in Vancouver for a 4 night stay. This booking was booked and confirmed on a "no cancellation Policy", therefore everything was paid upfront. I drove 13 hours with my family and another family who travelled with us. Only to get to my reservation and was locked out of the apartment for 5 hours. They suggested that they would find us an alternative but failed to mentioned they wanted to cram all of us in a 2 QUEEN BED room in a hotel when we had originally reserved a 2 bedroom fully finished apartment. They told me to submit my receipts for reimbursement after our trip. When we got back the refused to pay the difference and told me to kick rocks! Horrible. They are scammers- do not believe anything they say! Book somewhere else with confidence. The customer service reps I dealt with were very difficult to understand, all were from call centres from countries across the world. Horrible. And shame on you that a company of you capacity who steal from hard working people, especially at this difficult time.

HORRIBLE!
July 21, 2020

One wrong date was booked and had a free cancellation. When I called to cancel the one wrong date it took TWO HOURS to get in touch with someone because they kept hanging up as soon as it was my turn. They ended up saying not to worry it was cancelled free of charge. It was only supposed take 3-5 business day's to be refunded... eight days later I called to see why it hadn't been refunded. They had me on hold over an hour and were trying to say that they would not be reimbursing after all that we shouldn't have booked the wrong night, even though it says right there when you book free cancellation. We were charged for a night when we we weren't even there. The agents barely spoke English, it was very hard to communicate. Do not use this website it is fraudulent and they scam customers! We will never use this site again.

I recently used this service and was surprised that the price I was charged by booking.com was $50 above the hotel rate. I feel like I was cheated.

I used booking.com to get two rooms in West Yellowstone. I extended for a second night by going directly to the hotel and was charged 1/2 of my of my booking.com price. I experienced something similar in the past. Call the hotel first. Booking.com is a rip off.

This is an extremely dishonest company! I booked a trip to Africa for my family in December 2019. The property I booked was through Booking.com. At the time of booking the site said 'No cancellation fee'. However after I booked, the booking confirmation stated that I would be charged a cancellation fee in African Rand. This shocked me so I contacted Booking.com via online chat. They informed me that what I was reading on the confirmation was not correct and that I would NOT be charged. In March 2020 (4months before trip) COVID hit. I immediately contacted Booking.com via chat and again, they told me I would receive a FULL refund. A month later my refund came back less $869. I immediately contacted booking again and they told me to contact the property in Africa. Long story... After back and forth with both booking and property in Africa, booking has REFUSED to reimburse the difference, claiming that it was an exchange rate issue. However, I had also booked several properties in Africa through Hotels.com and received every single dime back. DON'T BOOK W/THIS SHADY COMPANY.

I booked a room through booking.com, it was linked to a page called bring Fido. I went to make a purchase today and my card was declined. I checked my account and found that the hotel had charged me $140 more than the free quoted by booking.com. The hotel told me it was a $20 a day pet fee for my small dog when I questioned them about the charges. This was no where noted by booking.com and left me with very few funds for the week. I was also not told it was per day when I checked in to the hotel. This was very upsetting and deceitful to me and I would not have stayed at this location if I had known of this additional daily charge.

I had booked a free cancellation holiday place with booking.com (booking number *******749). The policy read that I would not be charged if I cancelled more than a month before my stay and a prepayment would be charged of 50%. Which I was completely ok with. Except when I did cancel almost 5months before my stay I received a cancellation verification e-mail from booking.com confirming cancellation and that I should not need to do anything further from thereon. Well it has now been 11 days and I still haven't received my money back and if I did not call booking.com yesterday then they would've never even have known that I have not been refunded. Booking.com then just went on to explain it would take them another 5days to try get my money back from the property! Hello! I did not book with the property directly. I booked with booking.com to allow for the security of my money. That is why you charge a 15% commission to your clients to secure our trust in your service. I am still waiting for my refund as booking.com claim to now need to first consult with the property! Very bad booking.com!

COMPLETE FAILURE
July 14, 2020

On 6/17 I reserved a rental house near Yosemite for the weekend of 7/17-19 and received a confirmation email. In addition, I received a confirmation from the property manager with a request to provide vehicle information before the reservation dates because the house was in a gated community. Seemed reasonable that the property manager had the correct dates. On July 2nd, Booking.com charged my credit card for the full rental amount. 7/8 I sent the vehicle information to the property manager and immediately received a reply that the house was reserved by someone else through another website because Booking.com's calendar put down the wrong dates in his reservation system. The property manager told me he has had many problems with Booking.com before. Booking.com received the notice of conflict from the property manager the same day 7/8, then Customer Service sent me an email informing me of the problem and a link to other accommodations that were completely unsatisfactory for the size of our group. I email CS back asking for other options, never received a reply. Next day sent two emails requesting a full refund, a week later still have not received a reply. If you dare to use Booking.com, make sure you know your Credit Cards dispute phone number because there is a good chance your going to need it and have a plan B.

Yesterday I made a reservation via Booking.com for 7-nights stay, it was with term "Free cancellation" within following 3 days, however it required my Credit card details as a guarantee. After entering details, sum was withdrawn from my account IMMEDIATELY! Why is the free cancellation term then? Moreover, today I needed to change the reservation from 7 to 3-nights stay, logically less sum is due. However Booking.com informed me the difference between the bigger amount ALREADY WITHDRAWN FROM MY CREDIT CARD WITHIN FREE CANCELLATION PERIOD and the lower fee I owe to hotel, is going to be reimbursed to my account AVERAGE 15 working days after. Which means it can be even 30 calendar days and within this period I will need to cover the amount (which I am never going to use for hotel stay) to my bank, if I don't want the bank to charge me with % interest! Imagine! NEVER BOOKING.COM AGAIN!

Airline canceled my flight due to COVID-19 and I had bought the hotel through Booking.com. Booking. Com won't even give me a voucher for a later date. Isn't this against the law because of the pandemic? Never ever again will I book with this horrible company! I also tried to speak with a manager and they hung up the phone twice so they wouldn't speak to me. I can promise you this that I'm putting a bad review every week till the end of the year! I'm discussed with BOOKING.COM!

Do not use booking.com. They do not disclose the fees hotels charge. In your confirmation they state that you will be charged for one night and the remainder will be paid at check in. Then they charge you the full amount. When you call customer service they want your bank statement showing you were charged the full amount before they can do anything about it. Then it will take a period of time before you are refunded the money. Completely unacceptable.

I booked through booking.com. I hit the option to pay at the hotel but still had to input my credit card info to hold the room. They immediately took the money off my card, and once I arrived at the hotel, it was the most awful, dirty, disgusting place that I couldn't stand to be there the 15 minutes it took to check in. I immediately cancelled my reservation because it was nothing like the pictures represented, and booking.com refuses to refund my money that I wasn't supposed to have paid until I arrived anyway! Not to be trusted!
