Booking.com Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

The customer service is absolutely appalling. When speaking to the customer service representative I had asked to speak with the manager. They responded with "why do you need to speak with my manager." "no, you don't have a valid reason to speaking with the manager." I spent more than 5 minutes going back-and-forth with the customer service rep to transfer me to his manager. I was repeatedly told that I did not have a valid reason to speak to the manager. 1. I booked a hotel with this website. 2. Booking.com charged my card. 3. The hotel never received my reservation. Those are valid reasons to speak with a manager. THIS WEBSITE IS A SCAM. Don't waste your time. Book else where.

A godsend for people trying to save while also planning ahead. Bummer that rewards points usually don't count using this service, but understandable considering flexibility.

What the heck?
March 20, 2022

It was $200 cheaper to book directly with the hotel for the same type of room for the same nights.
In other words, an identical reservation but saved $200 by booking directly with the hotel.

Apart from one costumer service agent who was very kind and empathetic, my experience with booking.com which so far had been OK turned up tipo a nightmare. From failing to dispute with the hotel the cancellation of a reservation that only happened in the first place because of their buggy website to having operators hanging up the phone on me or gaslighting me and shifting the blame to the hotel I booked through their website. Horrible, disrespectful, abusive. I will not use this service again and will close my account as soon as this dispute is solved.

Worst service.

They stated one price and then overcharged my credit card by $110. Said they would refund-didn't. Should give a zero.

I had to cancel a flight because the airline changed my flight time by more than 4 hours. That did not work with the rest of my plans. I cancelled 6 months ago, the airline has confirmed that they gave the funds back to Booking.com but after 20 calls over the last 6 months, I still have no refund. THEY ARE HORIBLE!

I've saved for 3 years to surprise my sister a 5 day stay at a resort in Florida. I came to find out, two seconds after booking, I couldn't cancel (like the site said, free of charge) I would have been charged $604 to cancel. Then (both Resorts have said Booking.com has been made aware of this too many times to count) Booking.com set my vacation 12 miles away from where my other 9 family members were staying, so only once in 5 days did we all get together. One is called Vistana Resort in Orlando (where I thought we were staying with all my other family members and the other Resort is called Vistana Villages. Both Resorts put 100% blame on Booking.com, it's the only way you can book one of the places, so I spent a small fortune on cabs going back and forth from our place (Just me and my twin) to the other Resort where the rest of my family was. Terrible, Terrible! 4-6 hours wasted in calling and waiting for cabs to pick us up! Every single plan we made for the week had to be adjusted because of us. Disney, Cocoa Beach, Clearwater Beach, our Helicopter Tour, just everything. These are Resorts where you can see your sister and brother-in-law in the next building, or maybe four buildings over. You never have to leave the Resort if you don't want too. They had 7 outdoor pools and I think 12 hottubs, on-site Grocery Store, Gym. So we would just meet up at one of the buildings and go from there. Now, everyone had to wait until the two of us showed up. So disgusting, heart-wrenching. We didn't get a rental car. And it could have been the happiest celebration of a lifetime between all of us# had Booking.com just once had their $#*! together. First time I used them, last time too!@

I am beyond exasperated that booking.com (priceline) is still in business. I booked a trip for myself and my 2 daughters. Due to covid the event was cancelled. I called them 48 hours after booking and was told they could NOT refund my hotel amount. I lost $350 on my hotel. They told me my airfare would be available as a credit and to contact the airlines when I was ready. Well yesterday I was ready. The airlines could not help me, booking.com could not help me. I spent two days getting the go around with both companies. They said the ticket had expired three weeks ago, yet I was given no notice that it could expire or that it was about to expire. The supervisor continued to say there was NOTHING he could do. Booking.com took $1500 from me and could not give me any form of credit. It was basically like giving them free money. They were happy to take it and not help a customer at all. I would spend a little more and book through the hotel or airline site, they are always more accommodating then a 3rd party who simply just wants your money. You pay for what you get and frankly I paid for one big $1500 headache and heartache!
Believe me, it will only take you one bad experience booking through a 3rd party. Take warning... I will NEVER EVER do it again!

I have bought 2 international tickets through this company before Covid19 hit. I called and cancelled my flight. They said I have a year to rebook using same money what they call à voucher. But Covid was still critical and I couldn't use my voucher. So I called again and they Extended for one more year. Now that borders are open again I called to get the voucher to à new destination. Surprise, they denied the case. Thank godi have emails, correspondence with them. I really cant understand how could they steal people's money this way? While they can gain good and faithful customers. I think the canadian government should check these companies and how they are doing to canadian citizens and try to stop them. What they are doing is unfair!

1. Room that costs below 900 ILS (in direct reservation form hotel) costed me 1423 NIS via booking.com.
2. Their customer service does not allow to complain about any issue, just view the order details or contact the hotel.

Fraudulent
March 16, 2022

Do not use booking.com under any circumstances, they took money from my card without my permission and have had me running in circles trying to get a refund, ive had the phone put down on me twice, been constantly asked for proof of bank statements, which I continue to send amongst other details, how these companies are allowed to continue whilst appearing to be fraudulent is amazing

Sneaky payments
March 15, 2022

I reserved a hotel last October in Ostend for Easter 2022, They offer free cancellation and no pre-payment necessary. My wife used her debit card to reserve the hotel as I usually pay on arrival with my Clarity card which is fee free. My wife has just got her statement which shows a bank charge of £11.12 for an overseas transaction and the hotel inform me that booking.com took the money the day after we made the booking as I had not selected the pay at hotel option. Very sneaky and underhand. If you make a booking with no pre payment necessary you do not expect to be hoodwinked in thinking it was at the hotel and have to make another selection. BUYER BEWARE.

Lot of lies.
March 14, 2022

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I booked 2 tickets last summer 2021. I couldn't use them because of Covid. They said I have a year to rebook but they have been issuing new deadlines every 3 months pressuring me to rebook earlier. Now I have been trying to rebook for the past 2 weeks. First, they said they don't have access to the new pricing, then the day they found the new pricing and accepted to rebook, they said they couldn't go further and call another day because their system is down and can't process payment. For the past 2 weeks. Last Friday I called twice and two agents told me to pay $2975 for rebooking fees! I thought I heard wrong. No $2975 rebooking fees! I book the original ticket for $1420 the new prices online are $1900. They want me to pay $2975 to rebook. No sense! I called them numerous times. Today I have to call 5 times because they kept dropping the call on purpose. The fifth time the agent told me we reimbursed you. What a lie! So I asked her to send me a confirmation email or proof. She hangs the phone. Not a surprise from this company. It seems that when their agents don't know what to reply they just hang the phone. Stay away from this company. Meanwhile, i'm filing complaints until i get my ticket rebook or refunded.

We booked a car on booking.com and they cancelled our car and quoted a price 3x what we booked it at, citing that the car is no longer available. This is ridiculous as the partnership with the car company should mean that they would be able to deliver against the promise.

No customer service

I messed up on our return flight. They refused to help us. Told me someone would call back in 3 hours. Never received a call. Had no empathy about our situation and that we was traveling with small children. Will NEVER use this site again for anything.
