First order was delivered with significant delay.
Second order I haven't received and I can't track it because Boockdepository doesn't provide tracking number.
I am a first-time user of Book Depository and will never use them again. I had placed an order on 7 June 2021 and still have not received delivery today, 25 August 2021. TWO AND A HALF MONTHS LATER! Furthermore, I have not received a single notification via email or otherwise informing me of the status or estimated arrival of my order. This is honestly ridiculous to make a customer wait this long with no response.
I am a African American author who published my very first children's book on Amazon through their KDP program which allows authors to self-publish their books. They have a option to allow distributors to sell copies of the book, in which I do not have the option checked off. My book is now being sold for a ridiculously high price by this company and without my permission. When I contacted them to resolve the issue because obviously a mistake was made and they were not informed by Amazon I do not allow distribution at this time, they were very rude. They stated they would not talk to me about anything, and to speak with my publisher. I am the publisher of my book. I told them I will take legal action if necessary and I mean it. It says a lot about the company's morals and values, because if a author contacted me and told me that they do not want their book distributed by third party's I would have respected their wishes, after all it is their book and their hard work and money they put into it. What makes things worse is this was my first book, and I feel it has just been taken away from me. The experience has been completely stolen away.
I recently received a book that I had ordered through Abe Books and was shipped from BookDepository. The print was small small that I require a magnifying glass to read it.
This happened to me once before when I had ordered directly through Bookdepository directly and I had to request a refund. I would never order from Bookdepository again, they give online book sellers a bad name. I think they were purchased by a big company and just sell cheap knock offs of originals.
Order several books March of this year. I emailed their support and was told my email does not match the order email. I checked as I do have business email as well. In my logged in account of the original email it shows my orders -- all the orders! I took screenshots and sent them. Mr Nazihr T. Of customer service refused to help demanding I provide him further information. I sent him answers to his questions. As I was waiting, I tried to find the books myself. I contacted the post office asking them to look for any of packages and found one of them. Again, I received no notification at all for the books. I emailed again Nazihr T telling him I found one package but the other one is still missing. I also asked him why did I not get any notification. Post office said it was the shippers fault.
Nazihr T refused to read my message and continued to ask about the package I already found to prove identify! I told him several times, it's the other one I need. And emailed the response from the other email as well. Again, even though the book is shown in my logged in account at their website.
Two months late and counting! Still missing one package. And purposefully unhelpful and frustrating customer service.
Stay away from Book Depository!
Book Depository staff: do not reply with a insincere request asking me to contact support! I already tried. Let other potential customers see how you're treating customers!
I purchased a book in December. It was supposed to arrive at the time for christmas (as the site claimed). It didn't but I still waited. Finally, when, after two months my order still haven't arrived, I decided to contact book depository, demanding refund from them. They responded to me via e-mail, that the order has been shipped and my country's postal services must have lost it. Yet they refused to give me package's number, so I could track it. When I told them, that I cannot track my package without it, they said that I must have given them wrong address and that's why my order never arrived. Eventually, when they run out of lies to tell, they gave me my money back
Not sure if the Co. Has changed hands. Previously always eventually received what I had ordered. This year did not received what I had ordered, spent hours trying to find out how to return for refund, eventually invited to return but 2 months later no refund so not only have I lost cost of order but cost of return postage. All email responses are automated and disingenuous. Not using again. Co. Has gone down hill. Think I prefer to pay more to deal with real humans and see product before paying. Online sellers have gotten good at putting up a wall between them and the customer so there is no honesty or accountability. I anticipate now receiving another automated disingenuous reply from BookDepository which will mean nothing. So disappointed.
Insulting and harassing company - took me almost 2 weeks and 15 emails to find out where my order was (still not received). They kept passing my request from person to person, ended up with someone named Rafiek, who intentionally harassed me, asking for the same info email after email, wouldn't respond for days - frustrating and just - mean! No way to contact them but for email - stay away from this company!
I used to buy many books from them. My last orders where in DECEMBER and FEBRUARY and i still have not received my books in MARCH 24! I contacted them many, many times and they kept asking me nonsense questions and telling me later on, multiple times that i was sending from a different mail. (I was sending mails from within the account, where i checked and had the orders).
At some point they offered a refund which of course I accepted and later on, the next day, they once again told me that i was sending from a different e-mail! Still waiting for a reply.
Paid for book, not acknowledged in my order history takes ages to process and even longer to ship. I assume they use cheapest shipping. Evrn before covid some orders took months. Also they make out they are in Australia but they're not.
I ordered a hardcover book and was pleasantly surprised with the price plus the fact that the shipping to my int'l country was 0. I received the book after about three weeks. It was boxed in a heavy cardboard shipping box and came in mint condition. Today I ordered my second book.
This is my first time experience placing an order to Book Depository on January 28th. Later they informed me they had to canceled it due to unavailable item from the supplier but when i checked on their website it does said *Available. So i placed my order (again) for the book that they've canceled it and the worst thing happened again to me. CANCELED! -money refund is on its way! Clearly i can still see from the website right now and its AVAILABLE to order. Book Depository is nothing but a scam! Im still waiting for my 4 other books which i doubt it will arrive anytime soon.
1) I ordered a book series that was delivered in pieces long past stated delivery times, causing a Christmas gift to be incomplete 2) After 2 months of waiting for the last parts, I got one of the 2 missing books 3) Shortly after that I received a message saying they were unable to deliver the last part due to brexit and with no further question or contact put a refund to paypal 4) Just a few days after that, they stated on the homepage they could again deliver to EU 5) As an answer to my request if they could then send the last part for the agreed price the said that the price had gone up by approx 50% 6) When I asked if they, considering the catastrophic history of the order could perform customer care and deliver to the original price, I got the answer that the prices fluctuate and they will not deliver to that price.
Ordered 3 books which were shipped on 11th December - it's 11 January today and still no sign of them.
Had to pay 2.5X the price on Amazon to get the same books since there were Xmas presents
I ordered a book for my husband's birthday. I placed an order at the beginning of January 2020 to make sure it arrives by half-February. After a month no package arrived, which was much longer than estimated delivery time. I contacted the customer service, they had no option at all to keep track of my package, they asked if the adress was correct (I confirmed it was) and that was all I heard... When I insisted and escalated, they put me through to a supervisor who offered a re-shipment. I made it clear it only is of interest to me if the parcel will be tracked, and if not - I request a refund. Still, they claimed to have shipped a second copy after that! Utterly nervous about ending up without a birthday gift, I made one more complaint, finally received my refund and did my shopping elsewhere.
„Fun fact" - none of those two books ever arrived, and it's been a full calendar year since my order.
Never again.
During my YEARS buying from book depository i've encountered generally good service all in all but then there has to be the experiences that really destroy all 'good' past experiences.
In this case, i refer to the dismissive conduct of a 'senior supervisor' 'Geraldyne T', who at no point attempted to convey compassion, understanding, or HUMAN empathy.
An item had not arrived, i ended up buying a replacement copy elsewhere. I was told to wait on the original item, then return it at my own cost in the middle of a pandemic (!) with total disregard to the mention of being on a low income disability pension & not wanting to risk health/well-being to return a BOOK (if/when it eventually decides to arrive).
I'd have to say, this experience has permanently tarnished my perception of this seller & i'd highly advise steering clear - particularly if you are someone 'vulnerable' or with disabilities - you will experience cold, discrimination & 'profits over people' motive.
**edit & most important**
In an act that really transparently displayed their true colours, i had TWENTY SIX emails of pending orders/pre-orders all cancelled!
Never have i experienced anything like this from ANY book-seller!
This is a massive warning to all those reading - raise GENUINE issues & if they don't simply shift the blame to YOU, they'll 'PUNISH' you the only way they can.
Horrendous conduct!
I ordered from this business because they claimed to have a four day turnaround time and guaranteed my order would arrive before Christmas. Eleven days after my order was placed, I still hadn't received a confirmation that my item had shipped. When I contacted customer service using an online form, I had an exchange with someone I doubt was human because they kept sending me the same answer to multiple questions and requests... saying they would "monitor" my order. When I asked for a refund, I got the same reply. I don't even know if this is a real business with real humans? So far, no one has been able to assist me.
I don't recommend anyone to order from here.
I recently ordered a book which was available on the site, I paid and got the confirmation email.
"your order will be dispatched from our warehouse soon" so I kept checking the order status. It was under processing for more than a week when I finally messaged customer service for further information.
They said sorry but it's out of stock (it wasn't when I ordered) and their supplier failed to deliver, even though it is still marked as available on the website.
They said well yes, they got it from another supplier but I would need to re-order and pay again.
Then they said my order got cancelled a few days ago but I didn't receive any notifications about it. I had to message to find out I can wait forever.
Extremely disappointing.
I have ordered a book on November 12 did not come until today, December 9, a lot of energy and time wasted for nothing. They don't know were the book is and they are promoting 3 bussiness days dispach time.
Answer: Honestly, no idea, seems like their staff are very untrustworthy I had problems with them before I even ordered something, because they would keep changing what they told me about stock on a book, I wouldnt trust these liars with valuable information like your personal card (have ordered it in the end, but never arrived, they lied about the stock apparently and its gonna be a much longer wait, regretting buying it from here)
Answer: I always pay with a credit card and I never had any issue whatsoever.
Answer: Honestly, no idea. I also have them but I fill them again (I don't put my credit card info because I don't want to, and the address it's just filled in because Google remembers it).
