I made two separate orders and none of my book has arrived. When I read reviews, it seems to be common practice. Books dont disappear just like that. It rarely happens because of a delivery service. It's obvious that they scam people and the book has never been sent! No tracking link, customer service useless. They were bought by amazon and when they knew it's over, they decided to scam people and grab money for them self. Legal action must be taken and accountability must be applied.
Never received my book, and the company won't refund or replace my purchase. Customer service is stonewalling, and very very unhelpful. Buyer beware.
I have ordered many books and always was happy with my order. Fast shipping to Poland. Reliable. It's sucha a shame that they are closing. Shame on Brits for Brexit. Will miss it.
I order frequently from Book Depository to Switzerland and everything was perfectly fine. No problems at all. This is the first time I'm checking reviews and honestly I'm very surprised how negative it is. For me it was always a good experience and I would recommend it. Good books in a good prices.
Posts books with a 3-6 month window. Violating your chance for a refund from 3rd party websites. This is a scam where they do not actually sent the book, and hope you file for a refund, past your refund date.
I pre-ordered a new release July 10th 2022. It is now January 20th 2023 & I have yet to receive it. I've contacted them multiple times about a refund & to cancel the order however they've stated its shipped and can't refund me. I have 0 proof the book ever shipped as they can't provide a shipping number or even provider who they shipped it with. I decided to cut my losses & I ordered the book from the author directly. She had it shipped & delivered internationally (Australia to Canada) in 10 days. Including a long weekend holiday in there. *shout out Emma Carey you're the best*. This is all to say overall I will NEVER order another book from book depository & will warn everyone of how much of a scam they really are.
I ordered a book in December 2022 and received a notification to say it had been shipped (virtually immediately) and that the book would arrive on or before Sunday 8 Jan. Today is Saturday 7 Jan and nothing. There is no post on Sunday! I contacted them for a refund and was told the book is nearly ready to be shipped so they can't refund! They also had the nerve to extend / create a brand new arrival date of 25 January! These people are operating on the basis of lies and half-truths. It amounts to fraud. They operate out of Abebooks, and Amazon, the former a site which has gone down the drain over the last couple of years. Amazon has a customer-centric policy which Abebooks presumably abides by but not Bookdepository which cares not in the slightest about its customers, only about itself. When a company does this it is a sure sign that it is on a downward spiral to bankruptcy. Hopefully this company of liars and deception-mongers will fall, because it has forgotten the cardinal business rule namely, that it exists to serve customers not the other way round. I wrote back and told them I wanted my refund and that I would file a complaint to Abebooks and Amazon, because this is not acceptable practise. It seems that honest booksellers are somewhat sparse these days. Whereas sharks like Bookdepository are everywhere. To my book reading and loving friends, beware the scam that is Bookdepository!
I was really worried after reading some reviews but I ordered a book shipped to Italy on Dec. 19, it arrived on Jan. 4, only two days after the projected arrival date. I had honestly decided to cut my losses after the arrival date came and went, but was pleasantly surprised that it showed up! Honestly order at your own risk
Both order and re-order "lost in transit"! Something very wrong at Book Depository. Customer Service sent mixed messages and were unwilling or unable to investigate. Refund only, but more than 3 months lost waiting.
I ordered two books, they were each about $100. It's been almost 2 months now and I've only received one book. However, they have charged me for both. They have the audacity to send the tracking number of one book in for both. If I could give a quarter star I would stay away from them. They're on Amazon.
Purchased a book on pre-order, a month before publication date. Four months later, I still don't have my order! Multiple attempts to get information, especially since the book I ordered is still actively listed, I get multiple cut-and paste responses saying it's coming "imminently" or they claim issues with supply from publisher. I even reached out to the author (who responded!) and she said she'd contacted the publisher who said BookDepository hadn't even ordered the books!
Still holding out hope I'll get my money back.
I ordered and paid for a book to be posted to me in Thailand based on the understanding (as set out on the website) that delivery would be in '8 to 12 working days'. I have now been informed without explanation or apology that delivery will take a month at a minimum. I need the book for a book club and a late delivery is useless. The Book Depository at first denied that they had promised delivery in '8 to 12 working days' until I shoed them their website. BD refuses a refund. It should be avoided as a scam, pure and simple. Mike
As mentioned above: I ordered book over 2 months ago. Of course I am still waiting, there is no tracking id or any other way to find out what is happening with the package. Do not buy from this site, you will regret it.
I ordered a book earlier this month. They later cancelled my order without any real explanation. If you go to their website, you can find the same book for sale for slightly more money. This is a very dishonest way to operate a business.
Book depository is a complete scam company they do things like post items on Amazon under a different category which is misleading to the customer and then on top of that if you go to return the item they don't include a free return label you end up having to pay for the shipping to return the item which in my case was almost half the cost of the item itself which is ridiculous. This company is a complete joke and I would never recommend anyone buying anything off of them. What kind of company posts misleading advertisements under different areas. I wanted 'Super Mario Bros' the game, which was under games, NOT BOOKS. If I'm looking for videos games wth would I want a bunch ok on piano solos like geez. Horrible company. I hope you go bankrupt, you deserve to.
I ordered a book through Amazon that was being sent from the Book Depository. Since the BD advertised free shipping, it sounded like a fair deal. The BD never mentioned that they were located in England and customs fees might apply. A few weeks later I received a text from what looked like a legitimate USPS site, asking for money to pay a custom's fee for this book. I contacted the BD who would only say that they were not responsible for custom fees. I went ahead and paid, and the entire thing was a huge scam. My credit card was immediately charged for a number of fraudulent purchases. I had to dispute all of these charges and shut my card down. Clearly there is a scammer associated with and using people doing business with the Book Depository. Do yourself a favor and find the book you want stateside. Now I have no book, a shut down credit card, and a huge headache to take care of.
I duplicated an order by mistake, cancelled it immediately, but the order was delivered anyway and the charge made to my credit card. I am not interested in having two copies of the same book and now I'm stuck. Feeling very disappointed for this poor service to a client.
Living in the UK and having used the Book Depository on an almost weekly basis for over 15 years, I cannot praise them too highly. In my experience they are the Gold Standard in terms of prices and reliability. On more than one occasion they have compensated me when books have been damaged in the post, even when the postman has actually bent the book to get it through my letterbox!
I am therefore astounded to read of negative experiences suffered by non-UK customers, to whom I can only offer profound commiserations. What I should mention in this context is that it seems no longer possible to access the Book Depository UK from abroad - whether this is somehow related to non-UK customers' negative experiences I cannot say.
Perhaps the solution is to get a British friend to order the book and have it sent to one (worldwide shipping is free), and reimburse him subsequently. Keep persevering and good luck!

I was a little worried once I read some reviews on this company but I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a book earlier this month from Canada and was expecting it to arrive in 10-15 business days. My shipment actually ended up arriving after 6 business days which was amazing! The book itself is in perfect condition, I'll definitely be ordering again.
I am in the US and pre-ordered a hardcover copy very popular book only released in the UK for now, on July 13 with the promise it would ship on the release date of 7/21. On 7/21 I eagerly checked my status to see when it would arrive and the status was "awaiting publication". The book has been released for over a week with people posting excerpts, chatting about different chapters but my status still says "awaiting publication".
Emailed customer service and they told me they were unable to get the book from the supplier and never would be able to get the book so they would refund my money in 1-3 days.
Then I received an email from them that it was back in stock, but paperback for immediate shipping. So I placed another order on 7/22. It's now 7/27 and the order status is "processing" and no response from customer service. Meanwhile, they show both the hardcover and paperback available for immediate shipping! The same book I ordered 2 weeks ago that STILL says "awaiting publication".
They did not refund my money so I filed a conflict resolution complaint through PayPal and received an immediate refund for the first book. I'll probably have to do the same with the other book and will end up ordering it from Waterburys.
This is the first time I've ordered anything from bookdepository.com and it is the last. I don't know if they are pulling some type of scam or what they are up to, especially after reading so many reviews of others having the same experience for many different titles over the years.
My suggestion: STAY AWAY. No one needs this type of headache when just trying to buy a book, especially when there are many reputable companies out there who care about the customers and are professional.
Answer: Honestly, no idea, seems like their staff are very untrustworthy I had problems with them before I even ordered something, because they would keep changing what they told me about stock on a book, I wouldnt trust these liars with valuable information like your personal card (have ordered it in the end, but never arrived, they lied about the stock apparently and its gonna be a much longer wait, regretting buying it from here)
Answer: I always pay with a credit card and I never had any issue whatsoever.
Answer: Honestly, no idea. I also have them but I fill them again (I don't put my credit card info because I don't want to, and the address it's just filled in because Google remembers it).
