I have sincerely tried it on their site a few times and was sorely disappointed each time. Both at how annoying (yet unavoidable) the automated attendant proved to be, and at how clueless too many low-level chat- (and later, phone-call-) takers proved (I'm a deep techie, like to cut to the chase).
I dislike being used to train support staff at my time expense (I'm disabled, shouldn't have to waste precious talk time explaining basic tech stuff to them. Chat, telephone, whatever.
When I'd already spent an hour explaining my Apple device dilemma thrice and was told to make yet another appointment at an Apple Store for the pre-approved fulfillment, it turned out one cannot do that online. Instead, I had to wait on yet another phone queue to get the appt.

I recently bought a new iPhone and I was having a difficult time getting some of my accounts setup properly. Now I am not normally one to want to call tech support, I know how things work but in this case I had no choice. I called the main line and went though the prompt and then an actual person speaking English answered the phone. What an achievement! They were able to get me sorted and on my way right away.
I don't like the proprietary nature of Apple products. If they are having a problem, there is no solving it on your own. Take it to the Apple store. They are incongruent in use/operation to a PC and require a whole re-learning of the navigation scheme.
