Last weekend we had a wonderful short break in Antwerp.
Having stayed at the Plaza Hotel in the Jewish quarter of the city last year, we decided to revisit using this as a base to visit Brussels and Amsterdam.
We booked through AMOMA a booking agent I had never used before, however found they offered very competitive rates and were very helpful over the telephone having made contact over the internet.
The Staff team at the Plaza are excellent and pleased to help their quests and ensure you have a good stay. Rooms are large and comfortable and very clean, although a little dated you would have to be very fussy to find fault. For a city location they are very quiet for a good nights sleep.
The Hotel is centrally based in the city just 2 tram stops away from Antwerp Central station and 5 mins walk from the nearest tram.
The city has much to offer with its beautiful buildings and cathedral in the old part of the city, with plenty of restaurant's and cafe's to enjoy the local hospitality. Close by is the canal waterfront and for those who want to shop a high street with all the leading retailers.
The city grand central station has quick links to Brussels and Amsterdam and other major links across europe
Near to the station is the city Zoo which has undergoing major rework, however very worth visiting. Set in beautiful gardens and displaying a well cared for large selection of livestock of mammals,, Birds, Fish and insects,
All well looked after and easy to view. Also near by is the Diamond quarter which is I guess the largest in Europe. I have never seen so many jewellers in one area before.
There is much to see in this city with its impressive Architecture and many museum's, the local business's and people seem pleased to make your visit a memorable one.
All in all a good location for a short break with plenty to see and visit

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - Wish I could give 0 stars. Left me without accommodation on my honeymoon. Wish I could give 0. Found a link to the site through tripadvisor and made a hotel booking. 2 days prior to the booking called the hotel to double check, no booking existed. Called Amoma and was told they would call back in a few minutes, 4 hours later I hadn't received a call so I called (from the USA to Switzerland at my own expense). Was told they were still working on it, meanwhile i'm on my honeymoon and have nowhere to stay the following night. Fast forward to 12pm the next day and still no call so I call back again, it has now been 24 hours since they were going to call me back in "a few minutes". Verbally guaranteed my booking was confirmed at my original booking so I begin the 5 hour car ride to my accommodation which I would have begun much earlier had I know my booking was confirmed, that no one bothered to inform me about. 2 hours into the journey I get nervous and decide to call the hotel - would you believe it, no such booking existed. Fed up and frustrated I booked an overpriced bnb at the last minute on New Years Eve. Still have not received a call from Amoma now 5 day on - i've been told they're looking into it and will contact me within the next 30 days. This company is seriously a joke. If you want your vacation ruined then go ahead and book with these crooks. Horrible customer service, bookings don't exist. Disappointed TripAdvisor deal with these crooks.
