I have been using Alibaba for a few of our company's product needs for several years now. I have only had positive outcomes. The sellers are very responsive and eager to please you. They have been easy to communicate with, and adaptable to our specific needs and requests. We are in the beauty industry, so we have used Alibaba for different custom packaging products, as well as ingredient sourcing.
As for quality -- It's usually pretty easy to see the quality of the products the sellers advertise; always good photos and videos (if not, then ask. If no response, move on to another seller). As with anything, you get what you pay for. If you are buying dirt-cheap products, expect lower quality. There are thousands of sellers on Alibaba though that make high quality goods, and you can find pretty much anything you are looking for. If not, someone will be willing to create it for you. I always pay for my orders with their Trade Assurance for security and protection, should an order not be as expected. Never send wire transfers, or pay outside of Alibaba, that is my recommendation. Reputable and professional sellers will always offer Trade Assurance payments.
