American Home Shield does not pay claims they send people out to look at the problem just to find a way not to pay you not to fix the problem that's a fact I've seen it more than once and so three or four my friends we advise you not to use them find anybody else and let them know that

AHS definitely has changed. I was told to look for a company near me that would come out to fix my AC since the company they chose did not respond to our calls or their calls/emails. The company they chose did nothing for us. We left many messages. AHS wanted us to wait another 24 to 48 hours before they can cancel the company they chose and pick another vendor. I would have to wait for a refund and pay another service fee to get another company or research and pay a company of my choice. They did nothing about the situation. I had to call them to cancel payment. I had to get another company on my own and pay them. No point in having this type of insurance company that chooses companies that don't respond and who chose to hide behind company terms and conditions and not help their customers. I will not be renewing my policy with this company. You're better off putting the money in a bank account for home repairs / emergencies or getting a company that actually does what it is supposed to do.

We are extremely disappointed in our recent experience with American Home Shield, AHS, and their vendor, A-US Air Conditioning of Texas. It took more than two weeks to get the new a/c unit installed in our home and the worst part was the lack of communication from them during the process. It was mid-June and we were into triple-digit temperatures, so staying in the house without air was not an option for us. We chose to check into a hotel. Instead of the 3 to 5 days to complete our project that we were told, it took more than two weeks. We ended up staying in the hotel for 15 nights which left us with an additional bill for over $1000. Our only A-US Air point-of contact (POC) was the installation supervisor in Garland TX and my repeated phone calls and messages went unanswered. When we called AHS, they just referred us back to our A-US Air POC. We felt that we were being ignored by both AHS and A-US Air. Front Door Pro Connect said repeatedly that all the equipment had been delivered and A- US Air said it wasn't. When the installation finally took place on Saturday 1 July, we still couldn't stay in the house. It took two more tech visits, one on Sunday, and another on Monday to get the a/c working properly. We are beyond frustrated. We feel like we were ignored and dismissed. We felt like we had no one at AHS or A-US Air to look out for our interests.

We have been customers with AHS for over 4 years, and as of today we terminated our contract due to deceptive business practices. On multiple occasions we contacted AHS to file claims and were told by the customer service representatives that the requested repairs would be covered. After taking our $125 for service charge, the claims were submitted and each time they denied the coverage and refused to cover any of the needed repairs, on the basis that they were "abnormal wear and tear". They will lie to you and come up with any excuse not to pay a claim. This is an abusive and deceptive practice -
The customer service representatives with American Home Shield consistently lied to us about coverages and furthermore lied to us when we requested our money back as no services were provided. The customer service representatives showed no empathy and were absolutely worthless at solving our problems.

Worst service ever
July 5, 2023

I do not recommend this company. I have been a customer soon to be ex customer. They do not care about their customers. And so far i have reported some issues and the company or techs that they sent out, most are worthless. Also these most vendors or so called techs. They are irresponsible and do not communicate. I have reported some issues to AHS so far they have not done anything. You call the customer service to report the bad service all they are trained to do is I apologize for the issue. But still nothing gets done. But yet they keep on with monthly charge. I currently have an issue AHS is aware and nothing has been done. Waiting for a part for 2 months now. Still waiting. Called the the tech several times keep getting ignored. I have called and chated with AHS Customer service several times have records. They say we will contact the tech still no response. All I get is run around and still waiting. Do not use this company they are the worst. AHS DOES NOT CARE ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS CHARGING THE MONTHLY CHARGE. They deserve less than one star. I given them minus 100 stars the worst.

Paid big money
June 14, 2023

My air conditioning unit was having issues so I called my home warranty company, American Home Shield. When all was said and done, I came out of pocket over $3,000, unbelievable!
No explanation, just that's all we're covering and I paid the rest, which was most of the cost. DO NOT use this company unless you want to come out of pocket A LOT.

Been a customer for years. Refrigerator went out. It took them almost a year and me threatening to sue before they would do anything. Then lost my debit card so my auto payment wouldn't go through. They began calling me several times a day threatening action against me for failing to pay. Horrible company! The fact you can't write a review on google should say it all.

I decided to cancel a policy we have had for 13 years. We have used it on occasion and several times had things they conveniently didn't cover, when we thought they should. And a few other times, the things were covered, and we received the repairs or replacements. I can't say it was ever very timely...many times it took months to get something resolved, but we were thankful that we didn't have a large expense at the time. However, today we got a real taste of some very poor and not professional service when we decided to cancel the policy. The lady who processed this cancellation, hung up on me, when I told her I DO NOT agree with paing any cancellation fee or administration fee. I just paid on 5/30/2023 for the month of June and should receive an active service until 6/30/2023 because of this payment. However, she terminated my service as of today 6/9/23, so I have already lost $54.26 for the remaining time of this month. In addition, I should not be charged anything additional after that. We have had this policy for 13 years and we were told that if we cancelled within the first year, there would be a cancellation fee. However, if we cancelled any time after that, there would be no additional fees. I ask her to please remove the charge from our account and send me a new letter stating we have a balance of $0.00. We should also receive service until 6/30/2023 since that was already paid for on 5/30/23. I called back after I was hung up on and received more inadequate and incompetent service. They actually emailed me a letter that showed:

Total Contract Cost as of Cancellation Date: $413.10
Administrative Fee for Cancellation: $76.99
LESS (Total Amount Paid as of Cancellation Date): ($465.12)
-------------------------------------------------
Amount owed to American Home Shield: $76.99

Okay...you do the math! My calculator says $24.97

So, when I brought this up the second time, I waited on hold several times, then she finally said that since we had a claim several months ago that they covered, we still had to pay the full administration fee of $76.99 even though their own calculations indicated otherwise. It is all a bunch of nonsense, and I am so glad we finally cancelled this policy.

I would highly recommend you NOT use this company!

6 months waiting to have wall oven fixed, they keep saying to wait for a part, after 6 months, I believe my oven won't get fixed or replaced as they claim they will.

I have called week after week to request to talk to a supervisor, supervisors are not available when you call, they have to be requested to call you back, good luck with that!

DO NOT GET YOUR HOME WARRANTY FROM THESE GUYS - AMERCIAN HOME SHIELD! Nothing they say is actually covered whe te time comes. We had signed up for AHS a few years ago for a property we had and we had horrible service then, We would pay the initial service fee and then afterwards the cost to repair the item alwasy came back as 'uncovered'. AND the estimated cost was double/triple what the cost is to get it repaired through a normal vendor.

For some reason I thought that service wold have improved after 10 yearsand signed up again but I was wrong. AS an example, they charged me $125 service charge to first find a vendor. It took them about a week to get me a vendor. (Mind you an overflowing toilet is an immediate concern and not 1 week old problme), The vendor came out about a week after the initial service request, and we got a estimate a few days later for a $650 cost to snake a line, which is an uncovered charge. I've cancelled my contrcat with them but spent money for zero service.

Please please find another company for your home warranty needs as this one will cheat you big time.

I have been enrolled in the Platinum plan for 2 years now. Went to schedule an HVAC tune-up as one is included annually in my plan. Was told that this is only available during promotional periods and that the period is ended. Have been given different dates on when it ends, 5/17 on the phone and 5/7 via social media.

When I asked where these dates are posted, I was told they are only shared via promotional emails at the beginning and end of the periods, which I was never told when signing up and have not received, despite the fact that I receive marketing emails and newsletters. No one can tell me WHY I didn't receive these emails to make sure I get them in the future, but everyone has told me to watch for them in the fall when the fall promotion begins.

Additionally, my renewal contract came in. Despite only one service call in the last two years, my monthly price is increasing by almost 25% AND my service fee is increasing $25 per request.

You commented on Nan Frink's post: "They took almost two months to fix my dryer. In fact they sent me a customer survey for work that had not been done after three weeks in waiting. When I called to let them know this repair has not been done. I'm still waiting for a technician to come out. They closed the contract and started it from a new date so it would look as if it's a new order. When I asked to have my contract with them cancelled, which was almost a month ago. Their telling me I have to pay for an additional month of service in order to cancel. Service that I will not be receiving. They try to justify it as a cancellation administrative fee."

I had a water leak on 5/9/23. Today is 5/23/23 and the leak is still not fixed. The company assigned to my ticket has been unresponsive. They came to their appointment on 5/11/23 and refused to go into the crawl space to fix the leak, although I had stated that the leak was in the crawl space. So the technician left and I have not heard anything. I have called and called AHS and they keep looking into the matter with no luck. This is ridiculous that a water leak is now on day 14 and they don't care! I have been a customer for 10 years and the last several years they have went down hill hiring vendors that have bad reviews and don't fix the problem. I'm going to be canceling my contract.

Cancelation fees
May 22, 2023

American homeshield charges administrative fees if you cancel their service. They auto renew your warranty yearly and raise the prices significantly. Be careful signing with them. Nobody there can tell you what the fees are. They make them up. You cannot cancel online or delete your credit card. They are scammers.

I have had American home shield for almost a year and I'm most likely not going to renew my plan again. I had a kitchen sink leak going so I decided to use ahs, and get someone out to fix it. Well someone came and told me I would have to wait until the paperwork gets approved by AHS.
One week goes by nothing, then another week goes by nothing, a third week goes by and still nothing. As this is happening the leak gets soo bad it's dripping onto my bamboo flooring and has cauz mold and cracks underneath my sink. I had to turn off the main valve and wash my dishes in my tub which was ridiculous. I was constantly turning on and off the main valve. I called AhS, and complained on what was going on. The customer rep mentioned the paperwork can get approved within 24 hours. If this paperwork can get approved within 24hours, then why wasn't it approved 3 weeks ago? Now I have mold and water damage underneath my sink and discoloration on my bamboo flooring! AHS, get your act together, start caring about your customers needs, and deliver what your promised!

To whom it may concern,

I am a long time customer of AHS. I was out of town when I came home and my refrigerator and microwave were not working. I recently requested yet another service request for my refrigerator and microwave. I was told by the technician that my refrigerator was dead and needed a new part. Then he said it will be 8 plus days before the part could arrive.

Called AHS asking to try another technician, a loaner refrigerator or cash assistance for food. I was told that they don't offer anything like that. I can't change vendors, no rental fridge, no food assistance. Like how do you not even offer to pay for a rental fridge or something? Like everyone is okay with this?

My complaint is the fact that I have been told by multiple customer service agents that I was connected to that there is No compensation or temporary replacement service that comes with my contract. How is it that I pay monthly for a appliance service, not cheap I might add, to keep my appliances working and my refrigerator is "dead" and instead of replacing it which would probably take a day or two I have to wait 8 plus days for a part then schedule an appointment to have it fixed all while spending extra money to feed my family multiple times a day because the appliance service I'm paying for has left us with a dead refrigerator for 8 plus days. Please tell my why nothing can be done about this?

Why isn't the lack of a working refrigerator not an emergency?
Where is the assistance for the person paying the bill monthly?
Can I get compensation for food?
What about my microwave that is also not working that is on the work order? Like where is the customer service?
