CROOKS! Don't sign up. It will cost you more than doing the job yourself
July 28, 2023

#AmericanHomeShield CROOKS! They have refused to pay me the agreed upon cash back when I had to fix the drywall they broke into after FAILING to fix the plumbing issue! ALSO refused to repair the HVAC that has R22 leaking out of it which is BANNED in the US due to hazards to the environment #environmentprotection so I paid $7500 to replace the whole HVAC system. They have lied and hung up on me and never responded to any reach outs. I even copied corporate executives who never responded. Scam artists. I am thousands in the hole for what they should have covered and was a customer for years! Already had 4 friends and family cancel services with them and working on my realtor friends. This is beyond disappointing how they take advantage of people then connect to offshore call centers who claim they have NO MANAGER and hang up. I have spoken to 30+ representatives who put me through the same story. What kind of business is this? Clearly a failing one!
DO NOT SIGN UP! CROOKS AND NEVER WANT TO HELP! #BBB

Poor customer service
June 9, 2023

Their contract company & AHS
A WATER SOLUTION, INC.

I had multiple problems with the technician that was dispatched.

1. He was here for no more than ten minutes & proclaimed that my job was before the date of my policy of April & likely would be out of pocket.

2. He said the cost would be between $4,000-$5,000 out of pocket. I told him that it only began leaking about a week ago & had a photo with the time stamp.

3. He said he'd have to rip out my drywall, all new flooring & concrete. I said if that was the case that my homeowners would likely cover at least a part of this, he said no. I disagreed again on the date & what needed to be repaired. He told me he wasn't going to debate or argue with me & just left. I then immediately contacted Roto Rooter for their free estimate. I figured they could tell me if they agreed with his assessment or if it was something else. They were here in less than twenty minutes. It was as thought, it was the clean out cap that had corroded & needed replaced. They did the work then for total $169.04.
AHS was going to dispatch another company for a 2nd opinion. But I didn't find that out until later in the day after this work was completed & when they did contact me, they stated they wouldn't come until Monday to assess the job. So under the circumstances, I felt the right choice was made & I didn't have to come out of pocket$5000 They also said that it wasn't leaking on the flooring until recently & it was only dripping on the surface, not from underneath, no buckling involved or other water damage as he was trying to state.
I asked AHS reimburse me the $169.04 for the invoice from Roto Rooter. THEY REFUSE TO REFUND ME THE $169.04 THAT I PAID OUT BECAUSE I DIDN'T WAIT ON THEIR SECOND OPINION STATING THAT IT WASN'T ONE OF THEIR APPROVED COMPANIES. 1ST, THE 2ND OPINION COULDN'T COME TIL MONDAY. SECOND, IF THE FIRST COMPANY AHS APPROVED OF TREATED ME LIKE THIS & WANTED$5,000 OUT OF MY POCKET, WHY WOULD I WAIT FOR THE 2ND ONE.

Products used:

I ended up getting the work outside of the AHS they refunded the _125 service fee but REFUSED TO COVER THE$169.04 THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE WORK. VERSUS THE $5000 OUT OF POCKET THEIR COMPANY WANTED ME TO PAY OUT OF POCKET PLUS TO RIP HALF OF MY LOWER MASTER SUITE.

AHS works with poor quality companies
August 27, 2022

On May 16th service was requested because A/C was not working properly. AHS assigned SR #*******.
Tech from Delta T company (Jose) went on 18th and told tenants that there is a leak and need to add gas which is not covered. He leave the place with HVAC unit open and never return to close the case. (Picture attached as evidence). After he leaves A/C was not working at all.
When tenant told me that information I try to contact Delta T several times without answer. When I finally contact them on May 19th, he confirmed the same information. I told them that the HVAC was almost new, less than a year in service and will use the guaranty. After that they told me that will send the details later because they were very busy.
As I didn't receive any information from Delta T, on May 20th I called AHS customer service to explain the situation and they told me that will contact Delta to have the details of the diagnosis and estimate.
In the mean time Tenant was complaining about not having A/C working during that warm weekend, so I have to provide him a mobile unit on Saturday. As I didn't have any answered after the weekend, on May 23rd I contact the HVAC tech that installed that unit last year. He resolve the problem in 30 minutes. It was only a pipe clogged!
Yesterday Delta T sent me an email with the diagnosis and estimates of that repair, which is attached. Surprisingly the gas leak wasn't there but now they show a different diagnosis with a cost for me of more than 1k. Fortunately when I receive this estimate and diagnosis the HVAC is working in perfect condition.
My conclusions:
Delta T has unprofessional techs. They don't finish works and leave the unit half open and causing more problems than before they arrive.
Delta T has a lack of costumer service. They don't answered phone calls and took more than 5 days to send a formal diagnosis and estimates.
Delta T take advantage of costumers. Charging more than 1k for a wrong diagnosis after they discover I will use the guaranty for their 1st diagnosis.
AHS doesn't filter properly their partners companies.
I sent this complaint to AHS, but never received an answer back. I decided to cancel my policy with them and is funny that I'm receiving emails and phone calls almost every week to go back with them, but never an answer of my complaint.
If you don't want to lose a lot of time, headaches and frustration don't ever think to go with AHS.

Tip for consumers:

AHS has good web page and process to request service and an amazing marketing force. After that if you need to replace an appliance its horrible. Also they partner with poor quality providers.

WHEN YOU ARE ALL READY TO SUE THEM LET ME KNOW.
August 20, 2022

Texas, it's hot. Paid them since 2014.
6 children and disabled wife with sickle cell disease.

Now my A/C unit is down and I'm cashing in.
Peace of mind right?

Wrong.

Called for help. Dispatcher told me they would send a tech out within 24 hrs. If nobody arrives or contacts me to call back.

Day-2 it's 118 degrees by the way.

Call back dispatcher says someone will contact me within 48 hrs. There are currently
No contractors available in my area.

Day-4

I call customer service. Dispatcher says I can wait an additional 24 hrs and that all their contractors are busy. NOT GOOD ENOUGH I responded. I am the. Put on hold for 45+ mins. Customer care rep (CCR) tells me I can get my own contractor and they will reimburse me. I call a guy and within 15 mins

- I get invoice for services and I pay them.
- Cost of work and repair
- and email them/AHS with my Dispatch ID#

Day-5

Call (CCR) on hold for two hrs.
They say I do not have any service request put me on hold and drop the call. On hold again for 1/2 hr. I talk to CCR again they say nobody has sent an email. I TELL THEM I SENT IT. 9x in a Row in fact. Rep says oh dispatch may have it and that is information they do not have access to and for me to call back in 24 business hrs. BS it's gtg you have it you see it.

Day-6

Call back. I received an email from AHS over night saying I OWE THEM $120.00 and they are letting me know it's going to withdraw from my account. ARE YOU SERIOUS I PAID 79.00 to the tech out of pocket. I tell them invoice was emailed by AC pros to dispatch along with service ID. I'm told to call them back and have them contact AHS because they need to see if this is a scam or not. Call my guy he is livid and try's to call them. Text me back that he was put on hold and the call was dropped after 3 attempts and 2+ hrs. He said he was done. I call them back and CCR tells me they called him but he did not answer.

Day-7

Call CCR and they tell me I am not covered and haven't paid. BS I have paid for 14 years and keep record. It comes out of my escrow.
Rep tells me they have not been able to speak with my guy. I text my guy and he tells me he tried. He has been very patient and understands. The cycle of stalling continues.

Day-8

AHS tells me they received his invoice and want a second opinion and will have a contractor they choose contact me shortly.
Within 48 hrs.

Day-9 surprisingly I get a call the next morning but unfortunately the contractor says they can't help me until 8 days from now. I say it's an emergency and they told me if an opening is available they will try to come.

Day-17

Everyday I checked in to see if someone could come out. Tech asked what was the problem. I said I don't know in fear that he would just take the guy I had hired previously work and not do anything. Well I'll admit he was legit and came to the same conclusion as the previous contractor. So I'll praise Comfort air in texas. Anyhow says to me his people will email the invoice by tomorrow morning.

Day-18

Call AHS say they don't have it yet.

Day-19

Call AHS AGAIN and they say they stlll don't.
I'm put on hold. It's 2pm and their contractors business hrs close at 5pm. CCR says they called and nobody answered it went to a machine. I call them they answered and said they sent the invoice already 2 days ago.
I call AHS back and they say they have not received it yet.

It's Saturday 8/20/2022 I'm still waiting on AHS to know if they accept.

In closing I wish I could stop people from getting AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. Their CCR reps are nice but really do not seem to listen and are reading from a script. If you challenge them on anything they just read from script and not to sound horrible but I'm sure their call center is not in the US. It's a scam. They use stall tactics continuously and I doubt it will ever be handled. I want to Sue them I really do. I wish everyone on every post that had issue would rise up and collectively bring this company down. They are the worst. Don't use them.

Worst experience ever!
August 13, 2022

I will summarize to save time and space. American Home Shield is my home warranty company. July 1,2022 My heat pump wasn't cooling the house, I requested service, they sent out a 1st contractor, he failed to report the needed repair correctly to AHS. I requested a 2nd opinion from AHS as I am allowed per the contract terms. The 2nd contractor ultimately did fix the problem, but took 2 weeks and 3 visits to do so. He tried to cheat on the repair, I caught him, and he fixed it correctly. AHS was not proactive with any part of my issues or concerns re: this repair. I had to drive the whole process, sometimes on hold on the phone with AHS as long as 1/2 hour at a time, over and over. I started chatting with them for transcript proof after they proved incompetent on the phone. Never was I allowed to speak to a manager or supervisor when I asked. I once spoke to someone in escalations, but had to wait on hold an hour to do so, and he was no help. I was contacted by Stacy Williams of their social media dept. she had seen my reviews and was concerned and promised to refund my $125 copay for said repair since things went so badly. She can't be reached since, I have tried a dozen times. I never did get the $125 refund from AHS. I did pursue it through my credit card company with doc's to prove, but that is ongoing. AHS has now charged me an additional $125 for the same original July 3rd payment, thus there are 2 charges for the same item, same date, and they tell me it's past due now. I brought this to their attention. They say they'll get it corrected. First I was told 1-3 days, now the story is 5-7 days to fix it. AHS has never denied anything. They apologized and kept apologizing. They confirmed that I should receive the refund, but alas, they never got around to it. I have filed 3 separate complaints with the BBB of the Mid South regarding 3 separate issues with AHS. 1 has multiple responses from AHS and is ongoing, 1 is open, 1 is pending. I have shared my experience across many platforms online. Yelp, BBB, Google, PC, Home Warranty Reviews, Consumer Affairs, and on and on. I am on a first name basis with the BBB rep. AHS continues to this day to make excuses, but always apologizing. I have notes, I have transcripts of all conversations. I have dated screen shots. I have enough proof of their incompetence to sink a battle ship. My warning is this, the poor reviews are real, believe them. Steer clear of AHS at all costs, or you too will become a victim of their practices. They should be shut down for what they do, but alas, who will do it? I have contacted my State's attorney and the FTC and I am trying to make a difference and save someone else the trouble. We will see.

Here's the score: AHS sent 2 contractors over 4 visits. The heat pump appears to have been repaired. They continue to ignore me by not completing the refund I was promised. They have billed me 2x for the same repair copay on the same date and now say it's past due. There are 3 BBB complaints against them, none satisfied. I have wasted dozens of hours of my time trying to get satisfaction, for something that could have been handled so much better. Final result, they lose, because I will retell this story until I die.

Tip for consumers:

AHS is almost impossible to access other than phone or chat, they will not give me an email address, They will not let me talk to a supervisor. I did get some result using BBB's complaint system, but things still aren't worked out completely with AHS

From them to schedule an appointment, I waited a
Couple of days and since I didn't hear from them I
Called them, a lady picked up and told me they will reach out to me but they never did. The name of the

Days and called AHS and a rep said this offer have
Expired, I requested to speak with a supervisor but
The representative refused and insisted she said she
Will granted my services request and will reach out
To the AC company for my tuneup. No one call me to schedule anything. Today July 8th 2022 I reached
Out to AHS spoke with Sarah and she was horrible
She didn't know any information and said she will
Give me my money back, I ask her what money
She's talking about and she didn't know and hung
Up the phone. This tuneup offer Is free. Then I called back and spoke with
Roy he said because I placed this request before
Expired I should be granted for this service he also said he will called me back and he will email the AC

Hours, hours passed by and still waiting for a call
I'm very disappointed with American home shield. After hours of waiting Mr Roy reach out to me and ask me how can he help me, after a long conversation with him he had no clue of what we previously spoke and again repeat my self over again. Customer service team need to be train. Now I'm speaking with Erwin and it seems like he has no idea about this request., and again said someone will contact me from beaches air conditioning and heating llc. I'm going around in circles with this company. I did my part requesting this tuneup service on time before expire and now they refusing to comply for service.

Be AWARE! AHS is a Scam and is Untrustworthy
June 8, 2022

I was under warranty and wanted them to fix my problem. Thirty days had passed after the AHS provider kept missing appointments stating waiting on a part or could not make it, 30 days had passed. Then all of a sudden, there were new things added. You could not talk to someone else to escalate the problem, or they said it would take days.

Lies, Delays, and Scams.
I had waited for my ac to be fixed for over a month. I was told I had a couple of appointments to fix the condenser, but no show. I have canceled doctor's appointments. As of today, AHS tells me they did not place my order for emergency service, did not reimburse my deductible and no records of my calls or them calling me about it. Also, they did not change provider as they claimed they did since they were also experiencing problems getting a hold of Beaches Air.

Then today, after a month of waiting and poor health, I am told AHS cannot repair the order unless I agree to pay $1000 for freon to put in the new condenser. So, they will not come out unless I agree to pay. I was not told about this before.

However, they recommended changing my policy to a higher plan last month and waiving the first month. I am told I cannot use it for unlimited freon or get my part replaced until I agree to pay the $1000 and complete this repair. This was said after they missed another appointment (again, we are now over one month.) They are now telling me there are no notes of all calls by me and them to me about trying to resolve the issue of notes. I asked them to listen to their recordings of all calls; they claim they made.

I got tired of waiting and all the lies; it was surreal. I needed to know what kind of scam was they pulling on me. So I paid a company to inspect my AC and give me an estimate. Unfortunately, the evaluation was not what AHS said, and I ended up paying the to fix my problem (no freon or condenser was needed). Wow!

The lies, the waiting on appointments and not showing up, going past 30 days and then asking for an additional $1000. At the 30 days, they said their provider stated they could not contact me, which is also a lie. They did not honor what they told me they would do. Ultimately, they gave false damages to rip me off. I am a disabled veteran, and I told them that. I felt played with, penalized, and taken advantage of because I was being treated and the length of time taken to fix my problem.

I since stopped accepting all telephone calls from them on Jun 5th. I am not renewing or ever coming back. I do not trust them at all; they are a scam!

I have my receipt for repairs done by a reputable company. I paid out of my pocket. It took the company 1 hour to evaluate and complete the repair. I have been with AHS for many years. I paid my monthly fee, and they got my deductible also. I was available as they requested, even though they were seriously late or did not show up. But over 30 days, I became super frustrated and was tired of the lies, the reneging and gaslighting. So I refuse to renew and continue with them. They can call and write about renewing but not about my escalation request. So now, I am just done. I will never trust them, especially knowing they were scamming me.

I tried everything I could. I even told them that doing without and missing my doctor's appointment to be available was messing with my health. But, knowing how they lied to me, I will never use them again! I need other people to know about AHS, and I am telling other veterans I know about them.

I went back to get proof of service request and now see the initial date has been changed to May 12th. My Ac went out on the 2nd and I call them on first thing the next day - Another lie! Yet, they are wanting me to renew after the service went into another contract of lies. I am not renewing, I am done!

Save yourself the disappointment and the $$
January 19, 2022

Don't waste your money! For real estate buyers, instead of having the seller purchase an American Home Shield service contract, aka ripoff scam, have the seller give a credit to the sales price for the same amount they would otherwise pay to these THIEVES.
American Home Shield = THEFT BY DECEPTION = RIPOFF TO CONSUMERS = PROFIT TO THIEVES as in hand over fist!
You know the feeling you get when you get ripped – off? Save yourself the aggravation, the hurt of being taken! Avoid these crooks like the plague!
These people are, plain and simple, THIEVES! They collect $100 for a service repair, this in addition to your monthly payment or the amount upfront which is hundreds of dollars. Then they send service repair companies to tell you what you already know (that something is irreparable) and then AHS representatives routinely cite a particular section and paragraph within their contract (which I never received) to explain why the item is not covered. Or, the phone representative will represent the item is covered, give option for a ‘buy-out' which is cash in liue of repair in some instances. They say please allow up to two weeks to receive your check. Then, VOILA – the envelope arrives in the mail which is only word the item is not covered. Two claims made for legitimate items shown as covered on the brochure ultimately resulted in see Section II, paragraph G: the fine print which lets them off the hook and to deny the claim. Unlawful theft. Every attorney general in each state of the USA should prohibit sale of these worthless contracts. Their only object is to line their pockets. For any fool to think the positive reviews are legitimate are sadly mistaken. Don't be taken by their sales language which promises they will pay for the repair of electrical issues, toilets, HVAC, appliances, ANYTHING. Their staff on the front lines who answer the 800# are truly polite and well-meaning all in their attempt to make an honest living. No fault of theirs even though they sound as though they're on the other side of the globe making a meager wage. Other employees, presumably in the USA are undoubtedly paid to deny claims, preserve profits. SHAM! It's a 3 ring circus and nothing more than a ripoff. They prey on people who couldn't otherwise afford to have a repair made. Sounds great. Pay hundreds of dollars upfront and wolf in sheep's clothing will save the day and prevent the homeowner from having to pay a professional to restore a failed system. No, please stop them. With certainty, these dishonest and unscrupulous are living a high life at the expense of the hard-working honest American. They're a middleman making money hand over fist. IF IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, TRUST AND BELIEVE IT IS NOT AS REPRESENTED. Starts with the thousands of dollars they receive just for the homeowner to believe their misrepresentation. Then, when the breakdown occurs, the homeowner makes a call to the wolf who collects another $100 for the ‘service fee'. The service professional inspects the item needing repair or replacement to bring the consumer's failed system to working order. Then they politely inform you it's not covered. Can you say cash cow? I paid $100 for two separate claims which AHS paid $0 for neither. So, I'm out $200 and ended up paying the professional for their service. AHS paid $0. CRIMINAL. All for for their benefit at the EXPENSE of the very people who paid for what will never be realized. Terribly dishonest. They don't run a reputable business to make an honest living. American Home Shield's entire boardroom of dishonest associates should be tried and convicted. Shameful is this hasn't been already been prosecuted and disallowed to protect every consumer from such blatant and chronic THEFT BY DECEPTION.

Plumbing Nightmare
January 12, 2022

Day 5 of Shenanigans
After writing a review online, my husband was contacted by someone from American Home Shield. He wanted to know what the problem was and how could they adjust our view of our experience with their company. My husband asked only that they pay us what we had to pay to have the pipe fixed. So this person decided to negotiate and offered to pay $300. My husband said no and explained that our request was not unreasonable and that we would accept nothing less than what we paid to have the pipe fixed. We asked this even though their contractor cracked the tank on the toilet when he put it back in place and we didn't ask them to pay for remediation either. The person said that he would refund us back the service fee in addition to the $300. My husband declined and said that if he was going to pay $400, an additional $200 wouldn't make much difference to a multi-million dollar insurance company. And he stated that we wouldn't accept anything less than what we paid to get the pipe fixed. The person responded and said that he wouldn't reimburse us for our hotel stay or the service fee. We never asked American Home Shield for anything except for them to do the right thing. We only wanted what was fair and after a month of fussing, posting, and stress, they finally said they would refund our money back. Now, I just wonder how long it will take for them to actually do it.

Day 3 of Shenanigans
I contacted American Home Shield today and their customer service representatives are such liars. They now saying that their contractors said that normal wear and tear didn't cause the pipe to break. My question to them is, if it wasn't why did you send you contractors back to our home? Below is the bill that my husband and I had to pay so the work can begin in both our bathrooms. After living in a hotel for a week and paying their contractor to get our home back in order, this company still refuses to do the right thing. American Home Shield needs to understand that I will be calling and posting EVERYDAY until we get our money back! Better yet, why don't they just give us back our 2.5 years worth of premium payments!
I wish that I could give minus stars! This company is a complete joke! First, the customer service is HORRIBLE. No on understands English enough to even care what your issue is. Second, they stick to a script for customer service answers instead of actually answering your questions and offering assistance. Third and most importantly, THIS COMPANY WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGE CAUSED BY THEIR CONTRACTORS EVEN IF THEY CAUSE DAMAGE TO WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE REPAIRING! Dealing with this company has been a total and complete nightmare. And because of damage that their contractor caused, (btw... it was a contractor that my husband asked them three times not to send back to our home because of their lack of time management and ability), we have to stay in a hotel because our home has no water! Do not buy a policy with this company because if you need a repair that is not an appliance, they will look for a loophole to not cover it and they don't take responsibility for the lack of ability of their contractors.

American Home Shield is the worst
November 9, 2021

American Home Shield is the worst home warranty company out there because when they say local companies will assist you on your claims local to them is 25 to 50 miles away from your where you live like they did me I live in McAlester, Ok and they use a company out of Eufaula, Ok and American Home Shield told me that they will take the word of the company they sent out over yours the home owners and there is plenty of bad reviews against "AMP MECHANICAL MIKE SANCHEZ" in Eufaula, Oklahoma and it is pretty funny that "AMP MECHANICAL MIKE SANCHEZ" is always available that because "No one wants to use them" that should be a red flag to American Home Shield but they are still using them and trusting every word that comes out of "Mike Sanchez's" mouth and since American Home Shield doesn't understand what local company means that wright there should be a big red flag not to waist your time or money with them. I am a customer of American Home Shield for just one year and I called and canceled my next year contract with them. With the prices of everything going up the best thing to do is save your money and fix things on your own and stop wasting your hard earned money on companies that use companies with bad reviews like American Home Shield does. Because hear is proof my indoor evaporator coil needed to be replaced and "AMP MECHANICAL MIKE SANCHEZ" "told me in person that my whole unit needed to be replaced and he would get it replaced but I was told by American Home Shield that "AMP MECHANICAL MIKE SANCHEZ" report he wrote up that it was a rusted old unit and that I didn't know what I was talking about" and that there is nothing wrong with my unit" and American Home Shield took his word over the customers word so that is more proof you should record everything and stay away from company's that don't test your customers because without customers American Home Shield wouldn't be in business so "STOP" waiting your money with "American Home Shield" and fix it on your own. I wouldn't give them one star but I had to to write this Review against them and warn other people about "AMERICAN HOME SHIELD".
