I am extremely frustrated with AHS's handling of my washing machine repair request. The delays, misdiagnoses, and repeated technician visits have now extended to over 43 days, and my washing machine remains unrepaired. It is unacceptable that I have had to go through multiple service appointments without any resolution. Here is a detailed timeline of events: February 3,2025: I raised a service request with AHS after my washing machine started leaking.
February 6,2025: A technician visited but stated that the issue was with the outer pipes and refused to work on it, claiming that he was not a plumber.
February 17,2025: AHS scheduled a plumber under a free service request. The plumber diagnosed the issue and confirmed that the problem was with the washing machine itself, not the pipes.
February 18,2025: Another technician was sent, who finally acknowledged that the machine required new parts. AHS ordered the parts and scheduled a repair once they arrived.
February 23,2025: The parts were delivered, but the technician did not schedule an appointment until March 3,2025—an unnecessary delay.
March 3,2025: The technician attempted to install the new parts but failed to fix the machine, stating that it was still not functional. He asked us to wait until the next day for further updates.
March 11,2025: AHS now claims that the part has arrived, but the technician is not available until March 18, making the total repair time 43 days and counting, with no guarantee of resolution.
This absurd delay in service, coupled with multiple failed repair attempts, has caused significant inconvenience to my household. It is clear that AHS is prioritizing cost-cutting over customer satisfaction, refusing to replace a machine that is clearly beyond repair. I demand an immediate resolution—either a competent repair within a few days or a full replacement of the unit as per my service contract. I expect this matter to be escalated immediately and resolved without further delays. I look forward to your urgent response.
I would give 0 stars if possible! Set up a repair on December 2nd to have my dryer looked at, on December 6th the repair technician came out said he knew the issue and would order parts. Come the end of December still no contact from repair company and when reach out I'm told parts are on order. I wait another 2 weeks and reach out and told the same thing "parts are on order" so I give it another 2 weeks and this time I request to cancel my warranty or give me a different company to fix my dryer. Long story-short there are no other companies they contract with and try to reorder parts after 2 months. I ended up cancelling the warranty and working on getting all my money back. This was the 1st attempt to file a claim and would never recommend to anybody in Tucson area.
I created a service request to have my AC fixed. A month and four visits later and nothing has been done to fix my issue. It is currently summer in California. The inside of my home is over 100 degrees. Once the temperature exceeds 100 degrees the thermostat just reads "HI." There is no sense of urgency, nor does there seem to be an understanding of how critical the issue is. Customer service representatives are useless and provide no real resolutions. Worst insurance company I've ever dealt with. Completely unacceptable.
Bad providers that constantly no show, yearly reductions in coverage, yearly increase in both contract price and service call price, and absolutely the worst customer service I have encountered in a long time.
American Home Shield is a scam. We have been with AHS for 19 years. Over the years they have denied most of our claims. I have not cancelled this account because I was told that they would replace our air conditioners if they could not repair them. Both AC units went out around the same time. We are replacing both AC units and AHS is only paying $200.00. All AHS has done is delay the process. We live in Surprise, Az and the temps have been around 115 with high humidity and we are older and they do not care.
I'm beyond frustrated with AHS Home Warranty and want to warn others about their poor service and deceptive practices. If you're considering purchasing a home warranty with them, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
Unfulfilled Promises and Deceptive Practices
I advised my clients to sign up with AHS under the impression that my client's home systems and appliances would be protected. However, when we needed them the most, AHS failed miserably. My client's air conditioner broke down, and we were confident it would be covered under the plan. After all, it's listed clearly in their coverage details. Yet, AHS denied the claim.
Terrible Customer Service
Dealing with AHS customer service was a nightmare. The phone rep was rude. They even sent a technician who supported our viewpoint and still, after sending their report, AHS found reasons to deny our claim rather than actually fixing the problem.
Hidden Loopholes
It's astonishing how many loopholes AHS has in their contracts. They will twist any clause to their benefit, leaving the customer high and dry. We were told that my client's claim was denied because of "pre-existing conditions" – a vague term they use to wriggle out of their responsibilities. Funny how everything becomes a "pre-existing condition" when it's time for them to pay out.
Professional Regret
As a realtor with many years of experience, I have trusted AHS with over 100 warranties for my clients, believing they were the best in the business. My recent personal experience has shattered that trust completely. I can no longer, in good conscience, recommend AHS to my clients or anyone else. I regret every single recommendation I've made in the past.
Save Your Money and Your Sanity
If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, avoid AHS Home Warranty at all costs. Their service is nothing short of a scam, designed to take your money without providing the promised protection.
Too much for 100 words. In the last year 6 Service Calls, $1,538.88 in contract fees, $600 in Service call fees, received one $15 A/C part from all the calls. In addition to $13,720 of out-of-pocket for "Non-covered" Expenses. 8 months of A/C non-show from the repairman. Customer Service call Center from the Philippines is horrendous. Phone hold times 30-60 minutes per call. Dishonest repairmen. Very difficult to cancel, have to call & transferred around. AVOID THIS COMPANY. No photos to show, other than proof I have had AHS.
This is the worst company I have ever dealt with! I have gone without air conditioning for 7 days and no one appears to know how to DO THIER JOBS! Not only that but this is the second time it has had to be repaired and the only thing your company covers is band aid fixes that don't actually fix the problem, only delay the system from failing again.
I also NEVER speak to anyone that uses CLEAR English and can hardly understand a word they say. I just keep getting "we will note that on the ticket and are working diligently to resolve the issue" OR "I'm sorry you must wait 24 hours" IT'S BEEN OVER 100 HOURS! I cannot wait for my warranty to be expired next month! NEVER AGAIN will I EVER use American Home Sheild or recommend them!
This company was fine to work with when replacing my downstairs AC unit 2 years ago. Now that my upstairs AC unit does not work they won't replace it & are difficult to work with. HVAC people have come out numerous times and can't find why it's not working, besides its age & it needs to be replaced. They want to send me to HVAC company after company until they find the answer they want and I have to pay! DO NOT waste your hard earned money with a company that I will be pursing legal action against if this does not get solved. They raise your fees & won't cover your appliances.
My wife and I purchased a home in October 2023 with an American Home Shield Warranty. Before we learned this was like putting money down the toilet, we purchased AHS warranties for two of our other homes. In January our stove quit working so we filed a claim. A technician was dispatched who determined the parts needed to repair the stove are not available anywhere. Every time we call AHS we are told they are waiting on parts (the parts that cannot be found).
A kitchen stove is an essential appliance. We cannot cook at home. Have not been able to since January and it is now April. This is so unacceptable and we feel we were robbed by AHS as there is no resolution. Calling the service line takes you to another country with non native English speaking people who offer no help. DO NOT BUY AMERICAN HOME SHIELD WARRANTY unless you don't expect anything in return, which is what we have received. Nothing for our money.
Last year in August 2023, my AC malfunctioned, and I promptly contacted American Home Shield to send a technician for inspection and repair.
Despite multiple calls and inquiries for updates, I was consistently informed either to wait for a part that would allegedly arrive months later or to bear the cost of a new AC unit myself. I chose to wait, believing that the issue would be resolved in a timely manner as per what they told me.
However, each subsequent contact with your customer service yielded the same response - delays due to part availability, with promises that the part would arrive by January 2024. Disappointingly, January passed without any communication from American home shield end, prompting me to follow up in February.
I was interested in AHS and looked at a few good reviews from companies they do business with. Then I looked at TERRIBLE reviews from consumers. I've lost interest. I'll stay away.
The worst customer service on the planet, filled with phone trees, no way to get back to the last agent, constantly explaining the EXACT same thing repeatedly to agents with no repair knowledge and poor language skills. Dishonest subcontractors misdiagnosing issue. RUN AWAY!
This company is basically a legal scamming company. They take your money in exchange for offering up only ONE STAR businesses to do any work that you put in service requests for. You pay $150 for each service request for these one star crappy businesses as well! Some reviews are so bad, they said they didn't even want to leave one star and wish they could leave NEGATIVE STARS! AHS doesn't seem to care either, and all they say is that reviews are "subjective", even when thousands upon thousands of people are leaving these reviews. I was 30 days in when I figured this out and cancelled, and then they withheld one month from my refund and also tacked on a "cancellation fee"; which was about the cost of one month as well. So they basically robbed me $156 for NOTHING.
BEWARE AND DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! My friend is a plumber and told me that he's been cleaning up AHS messes for the past thirty years! Again, AHS doesn't seem to care what true professional honestly say about them.
American Home Shield has refused to supply me, a platinum level warranty customer, a receipt for the installation of a furnace. I have spent over 6 hours on the phone with their "customer service" call center and been promised 3 times over a week's time, that they would email it over. I am under contract with a buyer for the sale of my house, and the lender will not move forward without the receipt. AHS does not care about their customers, no matter how much you pay. I have been forced to hire an attorney as I am now going to be forced into foreclosure after being under contract with this buyer for 3 months! AHS should not be allowed to be in business, and I would give them ZERO STARS if I could.
Noticed AHS now hides Facebook Comments, you can only see your own. Why, is this? Probably because all are bad. Do not do business with a company who hides Facebook Comments, there is a reason.
They do not honor their own contract. I need $2100 in HVAC work, and AHS is only paying $235. The "contractor" wants to charge me $1800 for the refrigerant only (10 lbs of R410a), thats not even the labor to install it or fix th issue! Call AHS and all i get is robot/scripted customer service. They should be paying me $1500, but are paying basically nothing. My regular HVAC said repair (without warranty) is $2100, and of that, only $200-$300 is the refrigerant itself. Got work done locally, who has R410a refrigerant at $65/LB! I did speak with AHS executive offices, who says price can vary a bit like fixing a car; Well $1800 vs $450 is a lot more than a BIT! Do not use AHS ever. Always an argument and you will get no where with customer no-service, the Live people are robots with scrips who can't do anything, or won't. They are all owned by Frontdoor, so best to avoid all their subsidiaries which also include Candu Home Solutions, Frontdoor Cayman, Frontdoor Global Holdings, Frontdoor India, Home Security Association (AHS), Landmark Home Warranty, OneGuard in AZ, TX, NV, Selerio Ltd., Stewared of TX, Streem LLC, and US Hazard Disclosure.
Please, please don't wash your money down the drain with this company. Place that $84.99 in a savings account and use it for home repairs. This product will NEVER pay for itself.
1) The companies they contract with are nearly always 1-star kind of places that are neither reputable nor honest. That's no wonder, as AHS is horrible to its providers and pays them pennies on the dollar. Reputable repair companies (I've spoken with several) have all broken ties with them. You cannot choose your own repair company. There will be ONE vendor in your area available, maybe 2.
2) If you have a big-ticket item, it will not be covered. Your contract will say that it is there to cover normal wear and tear. But not if it's a $3,000 evaporator coil. They'll pay for labor and a few other things. You'll owe $3,000 of the $3700 bill.
3) You will WAIT and WAIT and WAIT for repair. The repair company will indeed call you within 24-hours per contract, but they will not be able to come assess your leaking water heater for 3 more days. Then they will need to put you on the schedule for replacement once AHS approves it, which will take another 2-3 days. So plan on being without hot water for a week. You will call AHS and find that there is no "emergency" or "escalated" importance process for claims. You contract will state that your vendor does not have to arrive at the residence before 7 days. And I promise, as a warranty claim, you are not the priority. A friend will be able to call them separately for service and they will magically be able to respond the following day.
4) You'll still have to pay - a lot. Even if the cost of the water heater is covered, there will be elements that "must be modified for liability" that will cost 75% of the total cost of replacement ($1400 - we replaced on our own for $2200 the next day instead of waiting a WEEK for water).
Friend, it's just not a wise investment.
We had really bad experience and unhelpful trying to be tricky when it comes to provide the service.ia done.wasted my money …
They don't cover anything an incentivize their vendors to find things wrong so it's not covered by the warranty! You can always count on them lying about their warranty products and policies. I will never recommend them to anyone else. Budget Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing was horrible. Then the second opinion came out and was honest but did his own thing. This caused issues with the warranty company. How do you ignore a service order and go with your gut instinct instead of following the protocol? I'm not a plumber but I can read well. TJ would have been the best if he would have gone through the house. He wanted $200 to pull out something that belongs to MSD. How can I be held liable for a sewer vent? It's not the mainline! Arnon… come on now. Do better. American Home Shield refuses to give me a refund for the contract I have. They said I will only get $79 back after spending $475 to purchase it. Who the hell do they think they are?
Do we have any power? Are we to blame for allowing the companies to continue to rape us financially? I call BS on the system! I demand my refund. This is my first attempt to get attention. See the next one…
This company is not a good company. They charge you $100.00 for someone to come out and they do not do what you ask. Some of the companies they use are subpar. I asked to cancel my policies and I had to go through 3 to 4 people to finally get them canceled because they kept stalling. Then the cancellation fees are like paying your next month premium. I felt like I was bound and gagged in the basement trying to get out. Keep your money. Go to a better company.
