Avoid Agoda for flight tickets.
I have purchased some flight tickets from them. The displayed price was much lower that the one I was actually charged from my account. How is this possible? Easy.
They display next to the amount the symbol '$'. Being based in Australia, the currency here AUD, which is Australian dollar. The symbol is the same, but its value is smaller than the USD, which has the same symbol.
I don't know if they do this on purpose, but, they do not display the currency used when you're doing the payment, so be aware at the currency.
Not to mention that you should check the flight operator directly. A third party company who needs to make a profit cannot have batter deals than the flight operator itself.

Later edit: after numerous discussions with them, they ended up cancelling my flight tickets with no reimburse (!?!) They said that I was the one who asked for the cancel, when in fact I asked them to cancel the transaction, not the flight tickets.
This was pretty shocking for me...I've lost over 2100 AUD and no flight tickets. I would not have believed if someone told me about such situation, but it is as real as it gets.

I booked through Agoda who partners with booking.com with a confirmation rate guarantee of $134.39. Stayed at the Hampton Inn College Station 6 East Bypass. They charged me $149.32 & informed they do not honor 3rd party bookings. I called Agoda for my price guarantee and they gave me the run around. 1st they wanted the receipt so I emailed it to them. Now they want my bank statement per booking.coms request. I will never book through Agoda or booking.com. Buyer beware. I will never stay at another Hampton Inn. The general manager kept me waiting at the front desk for an hour to discuss my charge.

Pathetic Service

Never book a hotel with Agoda. I reached hotel with my family which I booked with Agoda but at the property they said that there is no such booking. I had already paid for the hotel and the money was gone. Had to pay at the hotel again which was 5 times more that the online price. And I was stuck with my family in the middle of nothing.

I am asking for Cancellation FEE waiver because I can't afford to pay for RT PCR Tests for 10 people (Who asks for it here in the Philippines anyway?)
Then there's agoda's customer agent telling me to Send a Negative Result of our RT PCR Test so the Hotel can approve our request to waive the Cancellation fee.
So what's the point of asking for Cancellation Fee Waiver due to costly RT PCR tests if I am going to send the Results of our RT PCR tests to them?

The ad says 1500 per night good for 11 people which is what I am looking for.

So it looks like they will bait you with low prices with the hope of you will end up cancelling the booking because you can't afford the RT PCR Test especially with a big Group (we have 10 people, so that's RT-PCR times 10). They keep your money if You cancel it and you end up Crying in the end.

Let just say RT PCR is 1000 Pesos minimum (Good luck if you can Find one. Here in the PH, it costs 1000-5000 pesos or $20-100)

RT PCR x 10 people = 10,000

Take note that our booking Fee is only 4,800 Pesos.

Who in the World is going to Pay RT PCR Tests that is higher than the price of their booking fee?

BEWARE OF THIS SCAM!

I used this site a few times to book reservations in Japan. I booked a NON SMOKING ROOM but was told the room was smoking and had to pay an additional 14k yen at check in because my son is asthmatic, I know what I choose. I reached out to customer service and was told I need screenshots of my reservation for them to take care of the additional fee. The reservation ask questions in the booking like room type, bed type etc. I answered mine so they say that I requested a non smoking room and request are not guaranteed. I sent them screenshots of how bookings list whether smoking or non online before submitting but they would not accept it because it wasn't the screenshot of my exact reservation. Just cover yourself when using their site. I deleted mine.

I booked accommodation in Portsmouth through the Agoda website and when I turned up to check in was told that they could not check me in because they had been triple booked. I called Agoda helpline and they said that they would look into it and refund my money within half an hour. I called them five hours later complaining that no one had called me back and that my payment had not been refunded. They said that I would get in refund in 30 days! When I asked why such a ridiculous delay they put the phone down on me. Avoid them.

I made an error when booking a non-refundable flight and ended up with a ticket departing from the wrong city. I sent an email explaining my mistake to customer support and within an hour I had an assurance that they'd requested a cancellation from the airline (and I could contact the airline directly to check on the progress of that request). They then followed up with an email confirming that the cancellation was successful, no further action required, and that I could expect a refund in the next 30 days. I was expecting I'd have to fight for a refund, but everything was just resolved with minimal fuss, and I now have purchased the tickets I actually needed.

I booked 3 rooms for 3 nights at Great Windows Resort OOTY and when I reached hotel, I got a Dormitory and stinky Mattress,sheets,broken toilet seat, flush not working,bugs spiders in bed. I followed up with Agoda but no help. I requested them to atleast give me 3 rooms for 1 night which I booked but we have to spent that night in Dormitory with Family my Kids. I booked another hotel and shifted next day. I Followed up like anythng with Agoda for refund of 2 nights but they declined.No help from Agoda. They don't have any control and they act as a broker. SO if you book any hotel and you don't get the desired room, no refund is possible. Also you can cancel before the day of arrival only. No cancellation when you really see the property. Lot of property has misleading pictures which provokes you to book but reality is different.

Bait and switch!

Agoda will make your hotel reservation. It's usually the least expensive out of many of the other sites. Free cancelation, no payment until check-in. Everything you want to hear. A confirmation email is sent to you promptly with the totals, and your confirmation number. Then you get the email many hours later that the reservation has been cancelled by YOU! A follow up phone call to a live person get you nowhere. Trying to rebook the same reservation you'll find the price is now the same as all the other sites. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of Agoda!

Misinformation

Agoda lacks projecting the right information of the target destination, this made me land up in a lousy stay ar Tea County Munnar.
Agoda should update the current pics of the room, reviews on food etc and not provide obselete information misguiding the customer
Not easy at all to reach out to any Customer service at Agoda during such crisis. Take accountability
Never again i will or recommend my circle to book their trips through Agoda

Do not book on Agoda! Do not trust Agoda.
They are lying, deceiving, and therefore scamming you.

I booked on Agoda a fully refundable stay with no payment to be made at the property until check-in day.
Meanwhile, I am receiving an email from the property that my full payment must be made by email directly to the property, 2 weeks before check-in, or the reservation will be cancelled.

I called Agoda who confirmed that directions from the hotel need to be followed, although the confirmation email received from Agoda is completely contradictory with the hotel directions.

If I pay the hotel separately, I have the feeling that I am going to end up being double charged since I also gave my credit card to Agoda. Never again, will I use Agoda.

Unprofessional and shameful

We rented an aparment, paying the price of four persons even if we were only a couple --to try to get some privacy. When we arrived, the owner was staying with us, even if the add wasn't an add about a co-living situation. To add to the horror, the owner's underwear and clothing was in our wardrobe, and the door had no lock. An expensive price, for dirty sheets and no privacy!

When Agoda was called, the customer service first said that as the owner of the apartment said everything was "fine and clean", we could not get a refund. The second time it was called, as we have pictures of the apartment that prove that the owner was lying, they hung up on us mid conversation. In a third contact attempt, finally, the pictures are requested an provided shortly after through e-mail. The answer to this last message, even if the person we spoke to on the phone spoke about offering us a compensation for the trouble, was an automated response about the owner saying once again everything was "fine and clean". Even if the pictures attached show otherwise.

Agoda is, to be honest, a good way to get scammed and either lose your money or get to live with random strangers that change their underwear in your room while you sleep.

THEY OFFER HOTELS THAT DON'T WORK WITH THEM!
I booked 2 rooms with them in York (City Guest House), which I paid in advance. When I arrived, the extremely helpful owners said they hadn't taken bookings from Agoda since months ago.
I contacted their customer service, and they said they couldn't accommodate us anywhere else because there wasn't availability (that was a LIE), offering only the refund of the money paid plus $85 in AgodaCash (to be used only to "eligible" properties).
I was travelling with 2 older people, so I had to book another place. The cheapest found was £350, more expensive than the original.
I spent more than 3 hours over the phone with them, which ruined the day, because they kept hanging up the phone, even the supervisor!
They haven't refunded the money I paid yet, and they refuse to take responsibility for selling something that doesn't exist. How can I trust them ever again?
Well, after a few weeks, many phone calls and emails, I finally got a refund.

23.10.23: I must be stupid because I fell again. I always thought that everyone can make a mistake, so I gave them another chance, and they did it again!
I booked a hotel for a weekend in London, which was precisely where I was looking for. Agoda emailed me saying that the booking was confirmed. However, because of my previous experience, I tried to contact the hotel to verify that. The hotel didn't reply to any of my messages, and the phone number provided by Agoda was wrong. I reached Agoda's customer service (a few times) explaining my concerns, and they always asked me to wait, saying that I should be worried because the booking was confirmed. A couple of weeks later, surprise surprise, I receive an email saying that my 'requested hotel has failed to confirm with our supplier'. So, if I hadn't reached them to verify, I would have gone to London and, again, no place to stay!
It's unbelievable. How aren't these people out of business?

They wrongfully cancelled a reservation of a room i had checked into hours earlier, then claimed i had to pay a second time for the same room without reimbursing me. Neither i nor the hotel authorised the cancellation.

They are incompetent, dishonest thieves. Check out the scandals section of their wikipedia and cross reference it with chages in ownership. This service has gone to the dogs, put it down like the sick dog it is.

I called and add another person and we was supposed to have 2beds and got 1 for 3 people and the hotel was the worst experience ever. Honey buns for bed and tv did not work. Now they telling me they have to see what they can do for me. This is the last time I mess with this agency.

We must alert you that this company is unreliable and that Agoda don't take responsibility for their own mistakes.
Agoda ruined our vacation and left us in a foreign country without a place to stay, not some experience that you want to have.
We booked with Agoda apartment in Rome, when we arrived to the area of the apartment there was no one there. We found ourselves helpless outside with a strong rain.
We several hours unsuccessfully tried to contact the apartment owner, so we tried to catch Agoda Customer Service Center over and over again to solve the problem. Time after time the customer service promised us to call back but it didn't happen.
The time was almost midnight so we recognized that we need to find a new place to spend the night otherwise we going stay homeless, so we didn't have a choice however go to the first hotel that will introduce us.
After some correspondence with Agoda customers service they offered us a compensation in amount of 50 dollars for the next booking in duration of 6 month.
This compensation is offend and its not worth to book with them and might be involved with situation like this.

Highly recommend other services besides Agoda. Made reservations ahead of time and called the day I was leaving to confirm reservation. Didn't have it and spent close to an hour of Agoda trying to help but basically got nothing beside my money returned. First, in business they should have made it right by looking for a place for me and my family to stay. All they could do is give me money back for screwing up. In addition, we like in an area that you must speak ENGLISH! Not when speaking to Agoda...terrible wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy! POOR BUSINESS. DON"T DO IT!

Refuse to honor their price match policy

I booked a hotel stay at Houwhoek Inn in western cape South Africa with Agoda who quoted R2999.00 on their website. I did not read the small print properly as this price was pre vat and it actually cost R3340.00 when they sent the confirmation of the booking. A few days later I got an offer on Wikideals for the same accommodation at the same hotel for the same weekend for R1999.00 vat inclusive. I contacted Agoda to put their best price match policy in motion but to my dismay they threw many petty obstacles in my way. Each time I responded to their requests with the proof I would get a response from a different customer service agent asking for something else or the exact same thing I've given previously. Attached are only a few of the to and fro correspondences with them.
