I set up an appointment and was told they would be there 6-25 between 10 a.m. and noon. After lots of phone calls, at 6:30 p.m. they called and said they would be out in about a other 30 minutes. Because the apartment building has a no move in or out after 7 p.m., I had to cancel the appointment. I had told them I was having new furniture delivered the next day... guess what, I had to cancel the delivery a d now I can't get a reschedule date till July 10th! DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY. Mrs. Rodgers sure won't

Never showed up.
June 23, 2020

Scheduled an appointment days ahead for my 80+ year old mother who was selling her property. She had to drive an hour to meet with them and 15 minutes after the appointment they called her to say that they (1800gotjunk) could not make it and wanted to reschedule for a few days later. She was already there to meet them and was not going to make a second trip.
Do yourself a big favour find a local independent business. They will appreciate when you call them.

We had a couple dressers, a kitchen table and a few other things to haul away. I was told they charge by the amount of space taken in the truck and that I'd get a firm quote when they arrived. That would have been fine except that the two men could not agree on what to charge. It started at $300 but when we added two smaller items it went to $425. At $300 I had set aside some tip money but, at $425 I did not. Further, they ended up NOT taking two items that were supposed to be removed. When I went to the loading dock to retrieve two dollys that I had to provide for them (they had brought only one) and pay, I gave them the $425 yet when I reviewed the receipt, it was for $400. So, they made up their own tip. I followed up with the local office and of course, none of the three "stories" - the driver, the helper nor mine - were the same. I know the truth. Finally, I looked in the bed of the truck and my items filled did not come close to using anything over $300-$350 of the space based on their own description. Misleading and deceptive at best, fraudulent at worst.

Customer Service was not helpful. They had no authority and told us wait 24 hours. They didn't seem to be able to look at their system and tell who did what. They are the worst.

Got Junk came on Tuesday. Liam and Darian were very polite and professional. They even offered to sweep up different areas for us. Great Employees! This was the 3rd time we have used this company and each time the people who come to the house are the same. Great Company!

Stay away. Don't waste your time. I gave one star only because half a star wasn't an option. A complete wast of time. Had a scheduled appointment for a week. On the day of the appointment no one showed up. They kept us hopeful though by calling saying they would be there within an hour. After 5 hours of no show we called it. Absolutely no respect for someone else's time. No way would I use this service in the future.

Very Helpful
May 30, 2020

Malik and Gage were awesome. They called me to confirm the appointment, and then they called me to let me know that they were 20 minutes away. We thought we were doing them a favor by having everything in the driveway, and then the skies opened up with a thunderstorm. They were prepared, undaunted, and very kind. It was a quick job, and we were so very thankful. I would recommend their services to anyone. Thanks guys!

Awesome Service
May 26, 2020

Jordon S., Patrick and Simon came to remove furniture for me. They called ahead, and were prompt, polite and efficient. I am alone and needed help moving some other things in my house. They not only moved that furniture but helped me clean up after my old furniture was moved. Very personable and quick. I appreciated their service, attitude and additional help. Thank you guys!

Steer Clear
May 13, 2020

Called during CoVid when scheduled remover canceled. Quoted by phone 400 for half truck, local franchisee triple quote knowing I was in a bind to 1200 Failed to complete it anyway.
"Corporate" referred me back to... local franchisee... I've asked for their address to send demand letter.

Paid for a full truck load to remove household items. Service was not cheap. BUT they did do what they claimed. The truck with a driver and helper arrived a little late. They worked relatively quickly. Seamed to look through some of the stuff rather then just remove it. Perhaps they were sorting what they could resell... Yes 1-800-Got-Junk is reselling the stuff you paid for them to remove. To discover that I had paid them to remove my items ONLY TO BE SOLD for profit at their EcoDepot Montreal Store got me very upset. When I called their store to complain the store manager claimed to get the items donated from 1-800-Got-Junk. But in reality both businesses are owned by the same company and operate out of the same location. SO BEWARE... YOU ARE PAYING TO HAVE YOUR ITEMS SOLD FOR PROFIT... The Scam isn't the junk service (although it is expensive) but the fact that they are selling items without consent.

Prices based on what you have. Told a range once they saw it. Before. Not scammers. Your wrong. The are professional and made me feel I'm not as messy as I know I was. Big weight off my shoulders.

I had a very bad experience with 1-800-Got-Junk. The movers themselves were good and professional, but the management is very poor. First, I scheduled my junk removal 3 days in advance and got the standard confirmation, which indicated that the time was reserved and I would get a call 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time. The manager for the Chicago region, who I believe was most of the problem, called me a day prior and asked me to confirm for the following day. I called back later and left him a voicemail indicating I was still on. His number did not have any voicemail message recorded indicating he was with the company.

The day of arrives and I wait and wait. Thirty minutes AFTER the scheduled time I called the main customer service line and asked what was going on. She called the Chicago area manager, who told her he would not be able to honor my appointment. I complained as I had scheduled my whole weekend around this appointment, so she "escalated" the call and put me on hold. Ten minutes later she told me I would be receiving a call from the manager who would tell me when the movers would arrive. He said they would be there near the end of the two hour appointment window.

It will come as no surprise that they did not show up and I had to call again. The customer service rep said I would be getting another call from the manager to explain why they were so late. At this point they were three hours late. I never heard from this manager again, but got a call from the movers telling me when they would be there.

They arrived, three and a half hours late. But that is not all, they arrived with a truck that was about 1/3 full. I gave a very detailed rundown of what I had in my appointment and it should have been clear that I had very near a whole truck of water damaged items. So they had to fill the truck, go dump it across town (which took 1.5 hours), then come back for 5 larger items. By the time they were done it was seven hours after my scheduled time. Had they arrived on time with an empty truck it would have taken about 30 minutes. No discount offered for my inconvenience and the total cost was $720.

Then after all was said and done, customer service contacted me via email and said that I would be receiving a call from the Chicago area manager to discuss the situation and all the failures, but I did not receive that call and informed this customer experience team three times that I have not received a call.

Overall, just a very disorganized and careless group of people. The movers themselves were great, but everyone else involved just doesn't care about the customer. I went with them because I thought they would be more reliable than cheaper options available in Chicago, but I was wrong.

Find another company
October 21, 2019

They are horrible. Didn't show up and couldn't be bothered to call. I called customer service twice only to be told since the local business is a franchisee they do not have any control over them and cannot contact them. The price they quoted was also twice as much as I paid a local company to haul my stuff away. Don't waste your time with this company.

Dont like the price they quote you? Tell them youd rather get a dumpster or hire someone off craigslist. Get a quote from a cheaper co. First. Ask them to call their manager. Matt. And tell him its way too much. Overpriced etc etc. Get a $600 job done for 4. Get a $1200 job done for 750. I promise. They will NOT walk away from ANY money. PERIOD. Oh yea. And dont forget to tip the guys. They get treated like trash and only make $9-$10/hr. Its not commission based. Make them give u a better price.

They showed up 3 hours late. The first two guys were decent and they took everything I asked them to. They loaded things quickly and things were going well until Stephen showed up. I think they sent him in to do the "dirty work". He's a scam artist but not a particularly good one.

They loaded the truck by standing stuff up on the side and then put other stuff flat. I've read on other reviews that they try to fluff up the stuff. Side stacking makes it hard to estimate how full the truck is. The initial estimate was 1/2 to 2/3s full. It was just about 1/2, but Stephen insisted that I had to pay for 2/3 because that was the original estimate. In the end he said he would only charge me for 5/8s (split the difference). I wasn't pleased but the guys had worked hard so I gave in.

The cost was $447. However Stephen wrote $477 on the slip. I assumed he made an honest mistake but when I pointed out the difference he immediately took offense. He got loud and insisted he wasn't trying to cheat me. It was over the top and I hadn't accused him of trying to cheat me. I figured he just wrote it down incorrectly but he seemed to have a guilty conscience.

I was paying by credit card, so he handed me his phone to sign. As I did so I noticed the amount on the screen had now jumped to around $580. Again I questioned the amount, he snatched the phone from me, punched a couple keys and handed it back. What I find odd is that I think he had added in a tip (a hefty one considering I'd already agreed to pay for a bigger load and they were 3 hours late). But instead of saying, oh that's for a tip or something to that effect and giving me a chance to tip them, he just snatched the phone from me.

When he left, my son who was outside heard him say to the other two workers that "I didn't fall/go for it". One of the other guys said, "but I thought we were supposed to get the 580".

I won't use 1-800-Got-Junk service again as I feel like they tried to cheat me, but they did take everything and it only took 20 minutes to load. If you do venture to use them, be prepared for them not showing in the time window and check everything before you sign.

Full heart for this site though their service is not cheap... but it does seem fair. They offer excellent customer service and you can schedule a pick up online. They charge purely based upon volume so my recommendation is to break down whatever you have into the smallest size before they come.
