I have in-hand the written offer for 12 bottles of Tuscan reds + 3 bonus Bordeaux with no shipping. The 12 arrived. After months of phone calls and emails demanding the promised 3, being told I get free shipping for a year (?), American Express found in my favor because WSJ Wines did not provide them necessary info. Customer Service will not ship the 3, want me to pay or ship back the 12 at my expense. I suggested they honor their satisfaction guarantee and credit me for 12 "because I didn't like any of them". Nope. Collection notice arrived today. I wrote to them weeks ago and said I'd take to social media if I got one. It begins.
The first few deliveries were per contract, but then their true deceitful nature came out.
Double charging through duplicate billing shortly after the original in attempt to hide their theft. Once discovered their customer service acts as a firewall, as they refuse to return the money they've stole.
This former customer is glad to pursue them through the State Attorneys Office and Better Business Bureau.
They should be shut down and prosecuted..
They made a mistake on my order, corrected it but then double charged me. Once for the wrong order and again after it was corrected. Also over taxed me. My account was charged 1 day after ordering, however they told me I would have to wait until they tracked mistake, about 10 days. They reimbursed the wrong amount (less). Said correction would take another 5 days. 5 days later still no reimbursement. Over 6 phone calls, often apathetic and rude. They said they would give me a credit for the trouble, no credit received. The wine is good but I don't think the hassle is worth it. This has been on going since the end of last month and still is unresolved.
Email them with a problem: You get a canned email back with a bunch of fluff and no real answers. Or perhaps answers that just aren't the truth.
Call them with a problem: You get lip service and no real answers. You do get the speech about the call center and the email center not knowing what each other are doing - as if that is the fault of the customer having the problem.
Best advice: Stay Away From WSJ Wines
I opened my server today to find not one, but at least 10 (if not more) emails from WSJ.
I thought someone had pushed the send button to many times, but it turns out that they were coming from different emails! Somehow WSJ must have gotten my email saying that I like wine and then began distributing it all over... Nothing less than harassment because it is happening every day and the unsubscribe button does not work on most of them. I can only imagine if I actually bought something from these vipers!
This service is fine but I have received 12 bottles on two or three occasions and I would say the quality I received was on par with cooking wine. Nothing to get excited about. They tout it like it is some of the best wines, but the ones they actually send you are very poor. Not to my tastes. Nothing full or flavorful, really acidic, like the stuff your crazy uncle would make in his garage.
Placed on order as a gift to my cousin on October 1. Was supposed to ship out the following week. Nothing. They had no problem billing my cc though. My bank paid WSJ on Oct 6. WSJ said they did not get the money from my bank. SOOOO not true. Got that cleared up and then was told it would be shipped right away. Still nothing. Every phone call to them ended with 'it's shipping tomorrow'. Still nothing. Not sure what the he11 their problem is but I cancelled the order and placed one with Wine.com. Keep in mind that they NEVER called me with any kind of update or issue... I had to call them over and over again. Who needs this?
WSJ have introducing package that is $69 for 15 bottles. But the second package shipped to me is $177 for 12 bottles. I searched the price for every bottle on google, actually, most of the bottle are $12, then $15, two bottle are $20. I did not see any saving in my WSJ package.
Total rip off- they charge $20 to ship. By the time your order gets to you (typically a MONTH late), you find out the real cost. The plan is to get you to order the first one, then all the prices and delivery dates are total scam.
DO NOT SUPPORT THIS CRAP
Today is April 17. An order from 12/28 is still not here. An order from 3/28 is not here. No tracking information from representatives at WSJwine.com. They said they would "reach out" to the retailer. There are other wine clubs with similar prices, better service, and free shipping.
Price is too high. We asked to un-enroll and they charged us automatically for another shipment. One time we were lucky enough to cancel and tell them to stop it. Second time (3 months later) shipment was already on the way and we got the box. They refused to send someone to pick it up and send us to FedEx. We carried the box to FedEx just to hear they cannot accept it from someone without permission to sale wine. We called again to ask what's next and they offered us 10 discount of the package. Insulting service and poor attitude.
We are pleased with wines. Like idea of variety since we know little about wine and don't like picking out our own. We are willing to pay extra to have delivered to door as we are both elderly.
My big complaint is the non caring reps who take phone orders. They are extremely unfriendly. Don't give a hoot if you are pleased or not.We will probably drop out if this continues.
Very disappointed they charge me 180.77 for 12 bottle wine I never order I call to cancel my order they are very rude never again from this company
I tried to clear up a problem with my order three times, and the WSJ customer service representatives failed. They were also rude on the telephone. I have cancelled my order and will look for a company that appreciates customers.
I learned of this when an advertisement came in something I ordered; my coworker and I decided we should do it together and split the package. We agreed on a mix of reds and whites and even received 3 FREE bottles of red. So we received a total of 15 bottles to split up between the two of us which was pretty great. The bottles arrived in the time frame they said they would, they arrived in perfect condition, and each bottle we tried was amazing. The only thing we had to be very careful of is their auto-renew. This is a monthly or 6 month subscription, I'm not completely remembering, but neither of us finished our 7 bottles in the amount of time prior to renewal so we cancelled, but I definitely recommend this if you're a wine lover!
Answer: The Wall Street Journal owns WSJWine. It is a separate and distinct business from WSJ, but is owned by the company.
Answer: Because their service sucks and very quick to deduct the card but very very sloppy service
Answer: They also have a "free shipping" program called Advantage Shipping Service that you can buy (a la Amazon Prime) for $89/year. I've never purchased it because it's only valid on full cases, and I don't usually buy enough of those in a year's time to justify the $89. But if you buy at least 5 cases a year, regular shipping costs you $100, so the Advantage program is worth it in that case.
WSJwine is a partnership between The Wall Street Journal and the world's leading direct-to-home wine merchant. It offers you wines of quality and individuality delivered direct to your home or office.
