I ordered my birth certificate in June and 7 months later finally received the email that my order has been shipped. I haven't received my order yet but hopefully it'll come in the next week. 0/10 would never recommend using this service again. Just call your local county office and ask them for help. Much faster, cheaper, and overall a better experience than through the state.

March 2022 I ordered my birth certificate. New York City. Sent email saying it would arrive in May. It's now December and they say that vital statistic in N.Y. Is responsible. NY says it's the post office's fault. Either way my aunt died and I wasn't able to go see her out of the country cause I needed my birth certificate to get my passport. Both Vitalchek and vital statistic in NYC are petty and thieves. But, karma will get back at you guys. Better hope a family member doesn't die. You'll see how much damage you caused for a petty $23.03.
It is now in the 6th month of waiting for vital documents which I paid for in full to Vitalcheck - including a premium charge for expedited shipping. Almost all of my requests for updates were ignored. My latest request did get a response... they state that they are not responsible for fulfilling the contract and that I need to take up my issue with their subcontractor... THEY REFUSE TO HONOR THE TERMS OF OUR CONTRACT!

Not only did they take weeks longer for my birth certificate to ship than they promise on their website, there is no way to file complaints or get any customer service. I had to call twice before it ever shipped out 3 weeks after ordering. UPS told me the package with my birth certificate had been lost yet the customer service rep would not start a case. It is over a month since I ordered and 4 days since the only delivery attempt, yet they basically acted as though they had no responsibility or even any empathy. I now have a birth certificate lost in transit and they don't care, actually saying that they couldn't accept the email from UPS as proof because I could be faking it, nor would they reach out to UPS directly to confirm what I was saying. I now have to wait 2 more days, while my birth certificate is floating around lost, until they will allow me to start a claim. I could not start a case with UPS because their contract with them prevents it. It is clear this is a common occurrence. Terrible company.

I ordered a birth certificate from vitalcheck and received a copy which is useless without a raised seal. I contacted customer support and no refunds or credit can be issued. What a POS company this is. Once again, just another company that takes advantage of people.

Tried to cancel my order less than 10 minutes after I placed it. But they are charging me $15.50 to cancel the order because that is their policy. Taking advantage of people that are going thru the grieving process. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I sincerely mean that. You made 15 bucks off of me for doing absolutely nothing. I have nothing to show for the 15 dollars you are charging my credit card. I hope you folks sleep good at night knowing that you do this to people.

I ordered a birth certificate for my daughter which I need to see her because her mother is keeping her from me. Vitalchek took my money Sept 2nd & it's now Sept 28th I get a delay email. I have not seen nor spoken to my child since may so I'm already upset. I spoke to a agent she was smart saying well it says 15 business days well nothing should take 15 business days. I could've drove 4hrs to Louisiana & gotten it myself figured this would be easier.

They have no phone number for customer service. Take your money up front and leave it beteeen you and the county which is why we hire them in the first place and we have no other choice being in Palm Springs and my being born in San Mateo

Vital Chek will charge you for processing, only to later advise that you must get a notary to sign a document in order to process your order - effectively preventing you from processing birth certificates online regardless. Would not recommend paying this company as you won't save any time or money from doing so.

Keep calling and I get your caii is important to us and 45 min later call is dropped. Checked web site and they have me as done but the envelope was ripped in two. Garbage company! Should have gone and picked it up in person. But I wanted to save time. Wrong! And they get a sizable sum for there service. Don't use them!

I paid and waited 9 months and finally got a letter that they were unable to find the documents and we're not going to refund me.

Trying to find my parents marriage certificate and giving them all the information they required.
We finally found my parents marriage certificate in the church they were married.
But this company was unable to research that being frustrated we finally found it on our own.

We process the application, confirm identity and entitlement to the record being requested and process the payment. Once that is done, we forward the order on to the vital records agency who searches for your record based on the information you provide, produces the certified copy of the record and ships it out to you. VitalChek does not have access to the record files to confirm that a record actually exists based on the parameters entered during the application process. Only the vital record agency can do that. Placed an order for a copy of my birth certificate in Apr 2022. I subsequently located my original and called to cancel the order. I was told that a request was placed to the office of vital statistics to not process nor send the order as apparently there was no way to simply cancel the order. This didn't make much sense but I was given assurance that I would not be charged. It is now Sep, 6 mo later, and I just received an email that my card was charged and the order was processed. I called again and was told there is no way to cancel nor get a refund as the order has processed. Simply terrible communication and customer service. Do not use this company. They are not necessary to obtain records, charge extra for no additional service with unacceptable delays in sending ordered documents.

I'm surprised by all the bad reviews because I got my birth certificate in 2 days. I ordered two and it cost $68. The link on the State website is right there. Be careful of another company that has a similar name that charges more. I wonder if some of these bad reviews had to do with holdups regarding incomplete applications. Regardless, I will happily use them again if need be.

Although this is the only company "trusted" by our government to send out the documents we need, it seems to have a monopoly on how to "technically"? Deliver vital statistics that I ordered. I requested on July 27th for an actual birth certificate, for identification purposes, just received it today, it's august 12th now. What did I get instead? 3x copies, although still being certified by the county of "certificate of live birth" does anyone actually know the difference? It's not a "slight" difference, it makes a difference when trying to get "proof" of identity to an apartment, or as a supportive document needed for a driver's license or passport. But? Is it really that big of a deal? When people order fries, when working a burger joint, do you hand them a shake? When people give you $55 to expedite next day ups air, also requiring a signature at the house requesting such an order of a specific single document that is actually necessary at times to gain access to different forms of identification. Do you make them "wait and see" and hope they don't know the difference between "the sky, and the ground" or? "What difference does it make"? As if the people who order the products and the people who send the products are the "Same people"? No! Because those sitting in the offices sending the products actually get paid to do the "work" of getting the correct products sent! I might as well have sat in the offices sending myself the birth certificate so I could get the right results. But I don't work there..
My order was placed on May 2,2022 with an expected delivery of 90-100 days (which in itself is ridiculous). The state offices for the records have been operating normally for quite some time. It's 99 days later, and the website still shows the order in process. There's no excuse for this taking so long, and you cannot get an answer from customer service. They are now showing an estimated delivery date of November 28,2022, which is 200 days! Terrible, unreliable company with deceptive advertising.

Answer: They are probably legit, but if you are ordering your Birth Certificate just do yourself a favor and order your death certificate along with it because you will probably be dead before you get it!
