Vitacost used to be the best company. Great prices and selection. But no more. They had been going down hill a bit but since covid its gotten a lot worse. Nearly every order has an issue. Dented cans of food that were clearly dented prior to shipping, jars that open and make a mess. Crushed bags of food. My most recent order had two jars of olives that opened and there was a mess to deal with. I requested a refund, it showed it was approved then a couple of days later I get an email saying I need to provide pictures, that is fine, I don't mind the pictures however they should have asked in the refund request process, not days later. I will not shop with them to the degree I have been anymore. They have changed the way they ship and they do not show value to customers the way they once did. It is a Kroger company after all.

My overall experience was slightly better than okay.
One of the items I first bought was back ordered and not shipped. I was glad that I didn't have to pay for it and also that I did not have to forfeit my $10 off 30$ discount. That was very considerate of them to let me keep my discount.
I've never had an issue with customer service or communication. I think they are drastically improving in this regard.
Other than some fixed mistakes and a bit of trouble with getting my rewards from the referral system, I feel vitacost is trustable.
Be careful to read the expire data on the package.
On February I ordered couple of skin care products. Two of the sunscreens will be expired in 3 months and one eye serum and one face serum all expired more than one year. (I found the serum smells terrible so I checked the lot number with the manufacture).
I called Vitacost, guess what they say. They said they only guarantee product shipped out one month OK before expired. But even like this terrible promise even can not make. Because they even sale products are expired. I really can not image good company can sale product at one month time frame before expired data. Since I am out of USA, so I paid the shipping fee. But they only refund the expired product and refuse to refund the shipping fee.
Check the data, it is so import because the stuff can be bad to our body.
I will nerve order from this web.
Run, don't walk, and place your orders with Lucky Vitamin. The first order I had with them was fine, this second order is a disaster. No shipping because and I quote, "we don't have enough help in the Warehouse to pull your order>" Huh? I called them to say the shipping address needs to be changed since you are not honoring your 4-5 business day delivery commitment. I got and email today saying it will be shipped on April 16,4 weeks after I ordered it. Guess where they are shipping it? To the OLD ADDRESS instead of the new one I had changed it to.
I always ordered through Lucky Vitamin and the few cents savings from these incompetents is not worth it. Back to Lucky Vitamin.

They sent the wrong item and they do not respond to multiple messages. They have non-existent customer service. Horrible. No phone - just email that goes to a hole somewhere over a trash bin
First time ordering with them and already unhappy. First, the website states using "promo code(s)", meaning multiple, but you can only use one. Second, the website specifies orders $49+ (or $25 of VC brand product) get free shipping. I did get free shipping, however they have you type in your zip code to find out how long it'll take (says no more than 4 days). Mine said 3 business days. They split mine up in two shipments and one I'll get in 7 business days and the other in 8. Called the company and the customer service person said it can take anywhere from 2-8 business days. No where on their website does it state that. She did apologize and offered 5% off my order. Big whoop, a whole $2.50 off my order for my trouble. I told her I wouldn't buy from them again because of my bad experience already and she stuck with the 5% off. I know a few days isn't much to gripe about, but it's the principle of being deceived and they really didn't do much to keep my business, especially for a new customer.
I have to update my original review which I published on 3/13/14 as Vitacost redeemed themselves with stellar customer service.
I placed a first time customer order on 3/5/14. At the time, the vitacost website said Free shipping on orders over $50 and that that orders placed for my ZIP code before 1 P.M. would arrive in 1 business days [sic]. Nearly a week later and I had not received anything so on 3/12/14 I sent them an email and received an automatic response. On 3/13/14 the website was indicating that my items had been "picked" but not shipped yet so I published the review here. Later that day I finally received an email response explaining higher than anticipated order volume and power outages due to storms in the area. In the email they offered a discount on my current or on my next order. While I think they could have done a better job communicating the status of my order (like an automated email after it didn't ship in the advertised time frame), they apologize and attempt to make it right.
I replied to the email indicating my preference for the discount, and received an email the following day stating they since my shipment still hadn't gone out they were sending me a new order. I finally did receive the order within a couple days, plus I received the replacement order. Kinda makes me hope my next order gets delayed like that!
Yes I would order from them again but lesson learned - It may cost time to get products this cheaply so I will plan accordingly on my next order and communicate with them as soon as there is a delay.

I'm about over Vitacost. Without fail, I will place a $100+ order at full price and just after it ships they send me a $15 off $100 email or a bogo email, (either only valid for 2 days), knowing I just ordered and won't need to re-order. This happens literally every month right after my order ships... I just see it as a shady practice, tempted to give someone else my business even if it cost a few bucks more.
I have been using Vitacost for several years, and had some problems with poorly packaged products in the past, for which I always received rapid replacement of those products and excellent customer service. Their prices are usually (note--NOT always) lower than other sites, and they have traditionally stocked hard-to-find specialty products.
However, lately I have been very disappointed in this company. I have been waiting for over 10 days for a package that clearly is not going to show up, and have wasted hours on the phone with vitacost and lasership trying to track it down. I have a more recent order that is also delayed. I received one product that arrived separately from the rest of my order in totally decimated condition due to ridiculously inadequate packaging. Vitacost is replacing that damaged product, but they are not rushing to ship it to me, in spite of the fact that they are responsible for the problem. No, they actually chose the LONGEST possible shipping window to re-send the product. I should receive the replacement item in approximately TWELVE days from request, as per UPS tracking info.
The first customer service rep I spoke with about all of this was unknowledgeable and mocking on the phone. He kept telling me that the delay was because of snow. No, it has not snowed since my packaged was shipped. Also, the tracking info shows that my package was out for delivery when it mysteriously disappeared, so clearly it made it to NY from NC. The second, third and fourth reps I've spoken with have tried to be helpful, but still I have made no progress.
I could go on, but no point. In addition to their deplorable shipping habits, Vitacost is introducing more of their own lines of products and ceasing to carry name-brand items that I rely on.
I can see that I will be shopping there much less in the very near future!

On their site, they claim "Order by 1 p.m. & receive your order in 3 days!*". However, I placed my order, and they still have not shipped out after 48 hours, even though I paid for upgraded shipping!
Their "online chat" is broken and does not allow you to enter text on Safari or Chrome. The customer service line has such a long wait. I would never use them again.
I am totally satisfied with the Vitacost Site, there are a few products that I have to go else where to get as Vitacost does not carry them. Over all I cannot find a better place to buy my vitamins and have recommended them to many of my friends. I am also satisfied with the quality of their vitamins. I have done some comparison test with there vitamins and they are equal to the best of them.
I had an issue with one of my orders and via live chat I received support by Amy and she quickly solved the issue. Excellent customer service. I wish all the companies would work that efficient.
I placed a order for 5 items all in stock. I paid by credit card. 2 dayds after my purchase i get a e-mail that one of the items on there site is discontioued and i will not have to pay for it. After my call to customer service i find out that 4 of the 5 items showing in stock are not there and they cancelled my enrire orddr without telling me. Thry have already taken payment from my bank. I rate this web site -1
I've placed three orders with Vitacost and have never had a problem. Their prices are way below retail. I won't buy my vitamins or supplements from anywhere else.

They have a very wide selection of vitamins and supplements. Their house brands are inexpensive and they also have other brands at prices much less than in stores. Shipping is prompt and I've never had a problem with an order.
Answer: Yes they sell brand names and reputable products. They may not sell everything though depending on what you're looking for. I couldn't find the product I wanted anywhere other than through Vitacost so I was quite impressed.
