Value My Stuff has been a great help for our small antiques and collectibles business. I keep in mind that they have to appraise based on my photos and description, which clearly has its challenges.
There's a good chance I'll use this service again, after my uncle passed away I got some historical photographs that I did not want in my house but may have had some value worth throwing at my student loans. They dont really, but even so I got really nice information about the photos themselves and clarified the family lore around the event which has kinda had the telephone game applied to it over the years and across the atlantic. Other appraisers in my area want to come meet on location, and that's nice but I was glad to be able to do this over the internet.
Complete and total waste of $45 for three appraisals that I could have done myself, they give the absolute lowest value possible even for real antique items! I will NEVER use them again! I am very unhappy with this company! I would rate them a zero if I had a choice too!
Very unhappy with this appraisal. It was a biased "opinion" rather than an unbiased appraisal. Now that I realize they aren't based in the USA it makes sense as to why the appraiser had no knowledge of Marble Arms. But it still was terrible. Definitely would never use again or recommend to anyone. I should note that they gave me a full refund since I was so unhappy. Still not happy with the appraisal but at least they did right by me.
Dear Sharon,
As per our private correspondence, may we again offer our assurance that our specialist’s comments about hunting were in no way their personal bias. Rather, they sought to explain that hunting scenes are not considered desirable by modern buyers. On the whole, they are not fashionable anymore. This significantly impacts on saleability and therefore, value. Providing our clients with information on how we come to our estimates is an invaluable part of our service.
Although - as you stated in your emails - hunting is a way of life for you, it is not to everyone’s taste and buyers express their personal preferences, or bias, as you may wish to interpret it when acquiring art.
We were pleased to hear you have since received a higher estimate and reiterate our hope your works sell well.
We were happy to provide the refund, as, despite repeated assurances that no bias played a part in our appraisal, we were unable to regain your confidence.
Please do contact us again, if we may be of any further assistance.

Was very happy with speedy reply and definitely would do business again. If looking for a site for an appraisal for antique, vintage Value My Stuff is the site too go too!
Gives you a very detailed description of your item along with the Auction Value also Insurance Value.
Many thanks for your kind words Tami!
Wanted an appraisal for one item. Got billed for 4. Spent lots of time trying to "fix" the situation. Don't know if it IS fixed yet.
Hello Steve, I've taken a look at your account and can see you made a payment for four credits yesterday. Following your telephone message, I can confirm that these were refunded and you will receive proceeds within 3 working days. If you need any further assistance, please just let us know.

Appraisal spot on, had several emails back and forth from a very courteous lady named Ruth, wish I'd had a little more information, such as country of origin, but did find this item to be a reproduction cast iron garden fence back, panel, probably dating 1980's from China, still being sold today, thank you for answering all my inquiries, best regards, Janet
The gentlemen that responded to my email was very helpful, courteous and very professional. The appraisal was done very quickly. Emails were sent to get more information on the item (much appreciated as I had no information) really went out of his way to help me with my appraisal.
I had an unusual Hamilton watch appraised. The response was fast (2 days) detailed, and accurate.
Sadly for me the watch was a counterfeit... but hey... a person needs to know the bad news too :)
We had an item that we purchased at a charity event. Years later, we decided to sell the item and asked ValueMyStuff to look at it. As it turns out, what we bought was not what we were told it was. Ouch.
The staff at ValuMyStuff took the time to educate us on why they declined to place a value on the item, along with responding to our inquiries after the fact about how to best address the current situation.
While it hurts to spend money on items that are not authentic (even though we received two certificates of authenticity), it prevented us from reselling an item that was a forgery.
I will trust them again in the future.
I recently had my 1916 Wireless Crystal Radio receiver appraised. The appraiser went above and beyond and even contacted the Edison Institute where it is was de-accessioned from the Ford museum to add even greater provenance. I was stunned at the level of detail the appraiser put in their notes. I got far more than what I paid for monetarily. I have had several of my antiques and antiquities appraised and I have been impressed with their acumen in a variety of art disciplines. It is very hard to ascertain values without inspection and they do a great job at an extremely reasonable price. I pay more for a trip to McDonalds than I did for the expert appraisal that I received... lol - the price is just outstanding for the service provided. I think this is a fantastic way to get a quick look to make informed decisions on a particular piece. I would highly recommend their services to anyone seeking to get clarity on a hard to research piece or in general want to know more what the market brings.
So this business is either rated 5 stars or 1 star - anyone wonders?
I bought an oil painting in 2006 for 7,500 Euros and with all their "expertise" their appraisal was 5-10 Euro (I am serious!). No answers to my mail and no answer to my phone calls. Stay away!
Hi Klaus, thank you for your message. I believe we have been in contact (via telephone and email) to try and resolve your concerns. Unfortunately, your painting is not by a listed artist with an auction record and we have to give a decorative value. Having an auction record shows a demand for the artist and helps to give reasoning to an artwork's value. Often gallery and retail values are considerably higher as they are essentially a private sale. We are currently arranging a second opinion free of charge and will be in contact in due course.
Among the long list of things that need to be done to settle an estate is attaching value to assets. In our families' case, there were items that we knew had some value, but how much? These items included sculpture, and prints and other artwork that has great sentimental value and will likely not leave our family. But still, lawyers need to know the value.
I found this site and was impressed with the ease of use. I enjoyed the step by step process that also assisted in good methods for staging items for photographing.
I was impressed with the pedigree of the experts involved with assessing items.
The customer service end of this operation is excellent. I was responded to immediately and follow up was helpful.
I received a very detailed and quick response. I would use them again. I wish the link to auction items worked.
Thank you for your positive feedback David, our specialists are passionate about sharing their knowledge and insight with our clients.
We would recommend you sell the item locally or via online selling forums, which can yield high results as they have such a large client base.
A local auction house may also be able to assist.
Please contact [email protected] with your whereabouts, we will endeavour to source some possibilities for you.

Good speedy response but a little confused re the possible valuation as it seemed like pure guesswork. The 'expert' said he/she had never seen anything like the vases we submitted as we have not done since my mother bought them at auction nearly 60 years ago and that is why I wanted an expert view. I love them as did my late mother so the value is not so important but I do want to find out more about them if I can
Whoever the so called expert was that appraised my print clearly just did a quick internet search to value it. The signatures on my print are the true value. Plus the fact it is obtainable only in the secondary market also increases the value. I won't be wasting my time on any other appraisals. After reviewing my appraisal certificate it would also appear the artists birth and death dates are incorrect as he was not born in 1923 but 1961 and is still very much alive.
Hell James, I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed with your valuation. If you'd like to email us we can look into the matter for you: [email protected].
I was pleasantly reminded that there are still beautiful souls in the world. I needed an appraisal in exactly 48 hours or I would lose the only opportunity I would have to purchase my late mother's china. I had some issues following their directions. Somewhere between downloading the photos, purchasing and then using the credit to get the china appraised something happened and the entire transaction was lost. Of course it took 48 hours to find that out.
When I tried the second time I explained about my failed first attempt and what it meant, and asked if 48 hours was the expected or average turn around time.
Within hours, along with an apology and the reassurance that they were working on making their website more user-friendly, I received word that a specialist was able to complete my appraisal in record time.
It's nice to know that there are some companies that are still able to treat each customer as an individual human being and not just a Confirmation #.
I will be singing VMS's praises to everyone and anyone who will listen.
And being able to compare other appraisals of similar sets if and when made available will be of great help as well.
I needed 10 appraisals and paid $100. They said they would have the appraisals done within 48 hours. Since I submitted them on a Friday, I didn't expect them until Monday. But, sure enough, on Sunday, I received all the appraisals as promised. And all of them were thorough and detailed. And not only that--when I emailed them with a question, they got back to me RIGHT AWAY! They are awesome and I would recommend them to anyone who needs a true and quick appraisal. I am now thinking of using their auction service!
Thank you so much Joan!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but we're not currently offering an auction service. This is because we've decided to focus on valuations, to ensure we remain independent and unbiased. We do however have a good knowledge of international and regional auction houses and can recommend a suitable one to you. If you'd like to email us we can take it from there: [email protected]
I was at a loss as to where to get an antique book from Japan evaluated when I learned of ValueMyStuff. Their evaluator clearly was very knowledgeable and took the time to write much more extensive comments about my object than I ever expected. In fact, one of the details I was given caused a buyer to buy it almost immediately! I was very impressed by this service and expect use it again soon.
