I've worked as a freelancer for over a year with Upwork. The site provides advertising to get both clients and freelancers into the system. They provide training to the Freelancers on how to improve their business. Much of the training is free. Occasionally, they will have a trainer that is also pitching their own course that costs some money, but even those have been reasonable. Upwork is a job. When you start you need to research what works best in the community. But that research pays off. The fact that I now have clients direct inviting me to interviews shows that it pays off. Yes, there is a 20% fee for the first $500 billed, and 10% until $10,000 billed... but if you look at the value of the advertising that brought you the clients/freelancers... it is worth every penny!

I've been working on the Upwork platform for a year and a half and my business has soared. The platform is easy to use, offers many resources such as a time tracker, invoice sheets, and lifetime billing data by client. The customer service team is always polite and resourceful, and I would not have the solid clients I currently have if it wasn't for Upworks vetting process. I have attempted to find other platforms to branch out, but none of the others have the ease of use and clientele. I highly recommend this platform to other freelancers that are masters of their trade.

Upwork is a great and respectable platform for freelancers to make really good money.

They not only cater to the clients but also respect the freelancers needs.

My favorite perk of Upwork is "UPWORK PAYMENT PROTECTION" under hourly contracts.

That means that even if your client disappears or for some reason are no funds in their card - as long as you have worked on an hourly contract upwork will cover that loss for you.

Overall a great platform to work with - great customer service and available within minutes you call - i have never waited on hold for more than a minute TOPS.

Upwork has helped me take more control of my career by enabling me to connect with clients from all around the world and giving me the chance to prove my competence through their Job Success Score algorithm.

It's not perfect and paying for connects is kind of annoying, but the benefits of the platform greatly outnumber the negatives. It's really hard to judge Upwork if you've never used it. Freelancers who find success on Upwork, love it. Upwork is just a tool, and I'm grateful for it.

I have been working as a freelancer in Upwork for about 2 years and I believe it is the greatest platform of all freelancer market places. Recently, they updated policy and it's innovative and very helpful. If you believe that you have skills in programming and are going to start your individual business as a freelancer then don't hesitate to choose Upwork as a first option. As we know, there are many market places for freelancers and almost are rusty but it is not. Totally recommend.

Since I started freelancing on Upwork, it was a continuous growth. I earned, I worked on exciting and challenging projects and I improved my skills range. I have tried to freelance on other platforms like Guru, Hubstaff, Freelancer, and Fiverr. Here are my reasons for the 5 stars feedback and why today I freelance ONLY on Upwork:
1. The largest number of clients and job postings (in my category-Illustration and graphic design).
2. Excellent feedback system which helps to select the best jobs and clients.
3. The best UI/UX design among marketplaces for freelancers.
4. Excellent contracting and payment system, protecting freelancers and clients both.
5. Upwork real-life meetings and events, so as webinars where you can hear a lot of interesting topics helpful for a better freelancing.
