Mong and storage
September 29, 2023

Moving mother in law we reserved a truck and vehicle trailer and the day before we were to pick up said reservation I get a call stating that the trailer that has been reserved is no longer available and that the closest trailer is an hour and half away and that I would need to go pick it up which my response was no we reserved it at our closest uhaul facility and that they should bring it there which they refused so I cancelled the trailer. We were also told that with the truck reservation that we would get a one month storage unit. We werent told that we had to be put on a list. This is unnacceptable customer service as now my mother inlaw has to shell more money to get a storage unit (no not a uhaul facility anymore)

September 29, 2023

They charged me 322 and you have to fill up the tank which costed me $60. Then they charge me for "tolls" like $30 after 2 months. They cant confirm which tolls i am being charged of. DEFINITELY A SCAM!

Why does Uhaul charge 3X the market value when you have your propane gas grill tank refiled? I find this to be very disturbing! There is an Airgas supplier rite across the street so location isnt an issue.

Read The Fine Print
September 23, 2023

Whenever I rent from U-Haul, I always get the Safe Move/Safe Tow figuring it covered me if anything happened to what I was renting. NOT TRUE. My car and the U-Haul trailer were stolen. I filed a claim for the contents of the trailer. I discovered that Safe Move/Safe Tow only cover accident loss NOT theft loss. My bad for not reading the fine print, I guess, but would be good it they said this a bit more prominently in their materials. Luckily the trailer was recovered or I'd be on the hook for the cost of a trailer too. If I'd been renting a truck I'd be on the hook for even more money. As I understand it, my car insurance would not cover the cost of a stolen trailer or truck.

Booked a truck 3 weeks prior to moving our son home across 4 provinces, was confirmed the size 4 days before even though they changed our pick up location. 22 hours before pick up told no 10ft trucks but could give a 26ft truck with 200 off for the trouble. I explained i had no where to park a 26ft truck nor was i comfortable driving a truck of that size 2000 km, and that it had been confirmed by their agent that a 10 ft was available, then they try and get me to pick up over an hour away, promised phone calls back, didnt happen, cancelled the second pick up location though i told her not to cancel till i could confirm i could get a ride to the other location, told something different from anyone i spoke to, tranfered from department to department, told they could change a local to a one way, then told no it doesnt work that way, just a nightmare making me loose my last night with family as i was on the phone with this completely unorganized company.,get to the dealership and see over 20 10 foot trucks in their lot, but still being told they only had a 26ft truck available, somehow miraculously they found a 10ft truck afterall, wow like they didnt know it was there and available when they called the day before, will never use this company again.

Uhaul is a horrible company
September 21, 2023

U haul is the worst company I have ever dealt with. My son rented a uhaul that I drove for them from Columbus Ohio to Kansas. The truck was stolen in Independence MO. U haul could care less. They found the truck 2 weeks after it was stolen with most of my sons' possessions gone. U haul offerer to wave the late return fee- what an insult. They wont call you back and could care less about their customers. I will never use them again. They know their trucks are easy to steal and they never call you back and make no attempt to make the trucks more difficult to steal. Do not use them- they dont deserve to stay in business

Worst experiences ever!
September 18, 2023

Went to pick up location only to find out our truck and towing trailer not there and we had to drive 20 miles to a different location. Second location only had one piece that we needed. Off to storage unit where we were headed only to be told they don't have the large 1st floor unit at all. We were sent to second location where there was a much smaller unit and not able to get a car in it. Total bust! DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Terrible customer service
September 12, 2023

Ordered a 15' truck from BC to red deer ab for 13 th September.
Received a mail yesterday requesting if I could tow a trailer for them and u haul would pay me $250 for it.
This morning I got a call from Simran Kaur@ there distribution centre advising that I had to collect the truck in summer land. I asked if she was joking as it was a 4 hour 35 min drive from my location.
Her reply was take it or leave it as there is nothing available. I requested to her is there were any bigger (or smaller) or trailers available in Vancouver.
Her reply was there is nothing and if I was not satisfied to cancel the order.
SIMRAN KAUR SHOULD NOT BE WORKING IN ANY CUSTOMER RELATED POSITION AS SHE IS TOTALLY UNEDUCATED AND CANNOT SPEAK TO PEOPLE.
As for Uhaul this I is the second time this has happened.
Last round we ordered 2 x super movers for $1200 and on date was charged $3800.
Think twice before using them

Check your mileage yourself!
September 11, 2023

I made a one way trip about 200 miles with a U-Haul truck to help my sister move. When I turned the truck in the next day about 24 hours from pickup they told me I had driven 765 miles and were charging me an additional $626.22. I tried to explain not possible and had my GPS phone history and stepfather to prove it. Response was since I didn't have proof by picture of odometer it was all they could do. This is even after one customer service rep found wrong mileage had been input into the contract for starting mileage. Most of customer service but not all were rude and could not care less about my situation.

Two weeks ago, I reserved a truck and trailor 2 miles from my house. With less than 24 hours notice, they changed my reservation so that the truck was 40 minutes away and the trailor was in a different location.

Uhaul canceled my reservation and gave me a bigger truck which they charged my an extra 400 dollars for. I was told I could drop it at any location and then told once I was at my location it would be an extra 1700 dollars. The customer service was absolutely horrible and was offered no solution. This company does not deserve anyone's business.

I didn't think it was possible to have this many things go wrong.

1. I reserved a truck near my storage unit. The day before my move date, I received a text that I would have to get my truck at a different location that was 30 minutes out of my way to pick up the truck.

2. I called Uhaul to figure out if there was anything that could be done and the guy on the phone was incredibly rude. Rather than having a "sorry for the inconvenience" attitude, he gave me a "what do you want me to do about it?" attitude.

3. I went to pick up my truck the morning of the move and the phone check-in process got stuck at confirming who I was for 20 MINUTES. Uhaul says this process only takes a minute or two, but the owner of the location where I picked it up said it is frequently delayed like that. I would have been late to meet up with my moving crew at my storage unit, but the owner of the location saw me trying to check in outside and brought me the keys to my truck so I could leave.

4. After I picked up the truck, I got a text that said "Thanks for picking up your truck. It is due back in 168 hours." I had only reserved the truck for 6 hours, but they were telling me I had it for a week. It was clearly a fluke, because they did not overcharge me, but it was just another thing that went wrong.

The truck was fine, but the experience of renting it was downright terrible.

I asked for a quote to have UBoxs delivered, picked up then stored locally until I had a ship to address. I also used their Help Move labor, which has been a total nightmare, this deserves a separate one star review. After calling to have the boxes shipped, they sent me to the the shipping to state, Lansing Michigan), to have them make the arrangements. Lansing office said it is up to the office, (Boise), to make shipping arrangements. This back and forth happened twice, until I begged the Lansing office to stay on the line, not simply transfer me. After awhile on hold, Lansing said the miss understanding was cleared up and Boise came on the line. It seemed to go well from there, until I received an email notifying me of the charges. Shipping 2 little Uboxes, $3824.00. To ship a PODS 16 foot container cost me $3250.00. PODS also had trained and informed people answering the phone. UHaul has cost me thousands in failed labor services, over charging for shipping and untold number of hours on the phone. Do yourself a huge favor, avoid UHaul for any of their moving services.

Not right
September 2, 2023

Looking up uhaul truck rentals and go to their site. Started the process of reserving a truck and got to the end and it requires a card. But for people who do not have cards should be able to hit a button cash payment and that should be considered a reservation. I get to the closest (walking distance) by 7:20am and now it says all booked. NOT FAIR, I CANT WALK MILES AND MILES to get a truck.

I ordered a hitch at the U-Haul store on Carruth Ct. In Pueblo for my car August 2023. At the desk I said that I need a 2" receiver type hitch. I told the person at the desk that it was for a bike rack. She said, "Okay" and said nothing more. She scheduled me to have it installed August 29 when the hitch would arrive. I went in the day it was to be installed and pointedly asked (before installation of the hitch) the person at the desk if it was the 2" receiver hitch and he said, "yeah, yeah". It was installed, but it was a 1 ¼" receiver hitch! I was told by the installer after the fact, that 1 ¼" receivers are the standard when installed on a car—okay, I get that, but the person taking the order should have told me that when I ordered it and the person at the desk on the day of installation should have told me the same thing when I asked him if it was a 2". I talked to the manager (Josh) the next day and explained the situation and only hoped to make him aware of the lack of knowledge and communication that I had with his staff. Josh assumed a defensive posture when I mentioned that I asked the person at the computer if it was a 2" receiver hitch. Josh said he was there at that time and said that I did not ask about the 2" hitch before it was installed when in fact, I was emphatic about asking if it was a 2". Josh was basically calling me a liar! I had to buy an adapter for my hitch to fit the bike rack. I am frustrated that the people behind the counter didn't know their products and didn't communicate well that my only option was a 1 ¼" hitch. The manager's defensive attitude when approached by a customer with a concern or complaint does not reflect good customer service. He never acknowledged my concern for the lack of correct information received regarding the hitch size, or the experience that I had at his store. I did not scream or yell and was very polite, but I came away thinking that I will never again set foot at the Pueblo U-Haul on Carruth Ct.
