Rentals are usually 24h, but to be polite and only use what I needed I estimated I'd be done in 12h (lots of trucks at this location). Ran into traffic, returned it after 13 hours, and I'm charged DOUBLE THE PRICE. They charged me for an extra day. As other frustrated customers have noted: wait on the phone for hours just to get tossed around.

If you book online it does not mean you get a truck. Even if a sales rep calls you to confirm your order. The terrible people that work a Uhaul are the least helpful. This company could care less of how customers are treated. Location Plymouth MN.
I had to pick to pick up my truck on July 24,2021 from D&L Distribution location in Vaughn. Reservation was made via online. When I came to pick up my truck, there was no truck key in the box. I tried to call to different U haul numbers. No answer. They screw me up big time. I could not complete moving because of this irresponsible company. Stay away from these idiots.
I booked a 26 ft U-Haul by phone a week in advance.
They sent me an email which gave me a date, time of pick-up, and address to get my truck.
I had 6 volunteers come to help me move a 4-bedroom, 4 bathroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, and Games room townhouse.
I went to pick up my truck: no truck.
None available. Anywhere (end of the month).
I had to send everybody home.
U-Haul found a 15ft truck for me the next day.
I moved on the hottest day in recorded history with one helper (65yrs old), doing numerous trips (instead of one), storing property at different locations (moving material out of town - could not do it all in one trip).
I complained to a rep at U-Haul: I was told that someone would call me back.
Next day, someone did: they offered me $50. I was told that was all I was getting. When I checked the time of payment of the $50, it was sent before the person even spoke to me. The conversation with me was pointless. I will never use a company that treats me as if I am insignificant.
I went to pick up a Uhaul van rental in Newport KY on 7-18-21, a Sunday, and it required a mobile pick up since they didn't have anyone working. When trying to log in on my phone, it would not accept my password. I tried resetting, but could not get it to process. It took 45 minutes to get a customer service rep on the phone, as I finally was able to process the check out. When I returned the van, another customer was having a problem with the process. As I tried to help her, and placed my van rental keys in the lock box, I realized my personal car keys weren't in my pocket. They had fallen out of my pocket while driving. The van was locked with no way to get my keys. Another 30 minute wait for customer service, I was told that I would have to wait until Monday at 9 am when they opened back up. They told me one manager was on vacation and another one didn't have a personal phone number listed. I asked for any options to get help. Unfortunately, if I called the police or a locksmith, they most likely wouldn't want to wait the 30-45 minutes to reach Uhaul to get their authorization to unlock the vehicle. I waited until Monday morning and showed up at 9am. Even though I was assured numerous times that someone would be there at 9am, no one showed up until 9:30. The person ended up telling me it was my fault and offered no apologies for the delay. While waiting for the person to show up, I was on hold with Customer Service which again took 45 minutes. The customer service rep informed me that the case I opened was already closed by the gentleman that finally showed up saying the issue was resolved. This was very frustrating especially seeing other customers having the same issues, to the point that one of them gave up on getting their rental and just left. No one seemed to care about trying to help.
They step me up as a service center and then didn't give us the proper login and it took months of people calling trying to book but guess what, we couldn't log in.
Rented a 6x12 trailer, did the online check-in and paid immediately. The night before pick up, U-Haul sent me an "update", telling me happy birthday, we have a 5x8 trailer ready for me.
I had to cancel this reservation on the phone because a cancellation option did not exist on their website. Then I had to book again but was only able to find a 6x12 trailer 250km away from me. It took me 6 hours to pick it up and cost me 100 bucks extra on gas.
Of course, U-Haul will not reimburse me for that.
Now, 2 weeks later, I need a 6x12 again, and I asked customer service to guarantee that I will not be punked again. But U-Haul does not have any internal communication. Their customer service asked me to call some local agent instead of taking care of my concern.
U-Haul is a dinosaur. Their customer support and their equipment is middle age. Their trailers don't even have a jack wheel. Impossible to unhook it when it is loaded or even when it is empty for a smaller person or woman.
The uhaul at southern plaza has always been very helpful when I have to use them. Eric has always been nice
Horrible. U haul is having me drive 50 miles to pick up truck. No warning. I called 2 days ahead. U haul thinks nothing of this. Not my fault. Not my problem. No more u haul.
Disgusting, my mom was sick and they had put the truck on a very bad location so I had to forcefully park my car which resulted my car and my neck hurt but Uhaul does not even answer my emails disgusting
Rented a 10 foot box truck feom uhaul, i paid for a funiture dolly and for protective sheets. When i got the box, it was empty. So I had to go to a uhaul store and rent tue missing equipments (paid again for it) and then got charged 65$ (CAD) because the fuel was a little bit under the 1/4 (where it was when i took it). They told me they charge me 30$ for fuel and 35$ because it was under a 1/4. They are stealing customer and are not reliable. NEVER WILL I RENT A UHAUL EVER AGAIN. (Ive been charged 343$ plus ~20$ for the equiment rental while my contract said it was going to be 276$)
This is the Worst Service I have ever received! Not recommended at all!... they are making me go for all BC to pick up the truck and drop it off... I hope they don't count those kilometers. Never been so disappointed in my life. Moving is already stressful, imaging now to plan the logistics and extra money just to get the Truck!. This is unbelievable.
100% disappointed! Reserved a truck June 5th and was supposed to leave july 1st and now I'm I was told that their isn't anything available to move out of state!
No one that I talked to over the last several days never mentioned to me that the cargo trailer isn't available in my area!
Finally got a call back from scheduling and at least Alina was helpful, she kept her word and actually called me back several times to make things right, but I'm still very disappointed in uhaul, customer service Conner should not be helping customers very rude,
Sure I'm Norma upset about over mikes, fuel charge is the thing, I didn't know I owed 8.00 in fuel then they nailed for 56.09,8.00 fuel, 30.00 in over mikes, which I knew that, and then charged my account total of 56.00 cuz I didn't pay what I didn't k ow I owed which was 8.00, no more uhaul for me Penske here I come next time
Not only is it impossible to get a hold of a human on the phone. The experience in any location has been grueling. Long lines unengaged employees, weeks of waiting for any kind of service. Hours of wait to talk to someone on the phone. When they installed my hitch it rubbed up against my muffler and began to make all kinds of noises in turn causing all kinds of problems for my vehicle. Come to find out the torque weight doesn't even accommodate my wheelchair which is the whole reason why I installed it in the first place. Absolutely worse business I have dealt with since the turn of the century. Save yourself the hassle and avoid this company all together.
I rented 8 U-Boxes, the quote I was given was $1,000 less than the final price for transportation. I was told not to reserve transportation until it was time to transport. When I called to schedule transportation I was told there was no record of my previous call or quote and they would not honor the price I was given. Then I was told the location where my Ub-boxes were being shipped does not have a truck to get the U-Boxes to my house and I need to unload each U-box at their facility and transport my belongings to my house, which defeats the purpose of U-boxes. Or I hire a third party company for $1,500 to move my U-Boxes.
Every time you call Uhaul it sends you to a different call center. They give you "local" numbers to call but those numbers send you to a call center. Every time I have called I have had to wait 50 minutes and still have not connected me to the local Uhaul facility or a manager to discuss.
AVOID UHAUL AT ALL COSTS!
NOT WORTH 1 STAR Beware truck we rented was badly damaged on top of it had a gas leak only got one load to my new home and had to take it back called u haul and was going to refund my 210.00 I prepaid for and didn't now I have half my belongings in my new home and half at my old home and they are still letting people renting the vehicle what a horrible company and you can only drive 40 miles per hour because it shakes so bad shame on you u haul and a prepayment was made we even just asked as well for a safe truck to get the rest of are belongings safe to are new home and they wouldn't do that as well
I have never been more disgusted with a company. I booked a vehicle about 3 weeks in advance. I was called 2 days before moving day to tell me it was not available. No apologies nothing. I tried again because their website said reservation guaranteed. It was not guaranteed. They let me book but then called to tell me they had nothing available. So why allow people to book? Horrible, disgusting customer service. People are stressed with trying to move and this is the kind of crap they get from this company. I will never use this company and will make sure no one else does either. Completely unreliable and unapologetic.
Paid $400 for helpers n no call no one showed up n now they have my money n I still had to get other help never use this service
Reserved a 20' truck, 4 dozen pads, and two dolly's a month in advance. Called U-Haul corporate to confirm a week prior. An hour before pick-up on the day of our reservation I get a call from U-Haul who tell me "your truck broke".
What!? U-Haul has one and *only* one 20' truck and they didn't know it broke until an hour before pick up?
I ask to speak to a manager and an angry guy hops on the call. I tell him I have 8 folks standing around waiting to get paid and need the truck I reserved a month before. He barks, "I have a smaller truck I can give you as a favor. Do you want it or not?" He adds that he is "the President of U-Haul".
I take the smaller truck reservation since I don't have any choice at this point. When I show up there are no moving pads, no dolly's, and the much smaller truck has a smashed radiator and a flat front tire.
I look up the title of the angry guy who "did me a favor". He's president of the local Eastern Massachusetts organization, not "the President of U-Haul".
If you are thinking of U-Haul, especially anywhere in Massachusetts, do yourself a favor: call a competent organization like Rainbow Movers or Gentle Giant. You'll save yourself money, stress and the hassle of interacting with gross incompetents like "Mr. President" and his crew.

Answer: From my experience I've noticed uhaul only allows you to review the pickup and dropped location and generally where I am at least, those folks are great and helpful. The huge conglomerate running the show is at fault but there seems to be no way to easily review them specifically. They screwed me too and I wondered the same. Maybe some folks had a positive experience but I believe you are correct. Negative reviews are definitely being screened out. Sorry you had a crappy move too.
Answer: I did a complaint online and then called but with the same result, they couldn't find me in their system. I need to wait 24 to 72 hours for the manager to investigate.
