What a joke this company is! Nothing but issues from day one! And their rates are outrageous! Uboxes is not the way to go as it was like dealing with infants to get them delivered and picked up out of my driveway. It took emailing the CEO Joe@ uhaul dot com to get them delivered 3 days late and now 3 days later they still sit in my driveway. No one knows what they are doing and everyone has a different excuse! Use anyone but these junkers! Pick up your dang Uboxes ASAP!
I have never written a bad review of anything in my life, despite some mediocre experiences. However, the misery of the Uhaul experience cannot go unwritten. I write this review truly in hopes of saving any other person who is considering U-boxes for a move. They charged me storage fees for 2 months despite my boxes only being in storage for 2 weeks, they then failed to book movers for me (after sitting on hold for about 6 hours total throughout the process) after assuring me they had, and then charged me TWICE for the self-delivery and moving help. Their customer service is nonexistent, and to put it simply, they just don't care about their customers. Period. Even if this service was completely free, it would not have been worth the hassle. Next time I move, I'll just sell all my stuff rather than using them. Please let me save you. Do not use Uhaul.
Be warned! Anyone I mean anyone can put your name and number down as a contact and link you to anything they do their truck! With out u knowing! I use this truck twice for a move was fine returned and paid everything that was needed and my own son used my name with out my knowing and did something horrific with his truck and since he used my name and number and no one I mean not one person reached out to notify me what happened I'm now banned from uhaul! Right in the middle of a move and told I may be involved in what ever happens to a truck. Again no one notified me no one asked me for permission. This needs to change! Be warned anyone can use your name!
I came from New Hampshire to Florida I ordered a u box to me it's not Worth the money you pay these people to handle your stuff. I was told inwill get my box on a day and for. Three days I got the run round. I ask to talk to a boss and nothing. This will be the last time I every use u-haul and I will be letting everyone I known that they suck..
I made a reservation for U-Haul truck a week in advance for my moving date. I went to go pick up the truck I was supposed to and there was no truck there. So the best day was able to offer me was to drive two and a half hours away from my house to go pick up the truck and they still wanted me to pay for the mileage. So long story short on my moving Day I had no truck and I had to move all my stuff by vehicle this is the second time I ever used U-Haul and they did this again so I would never ever use them ever again. I would never recommend you all to anyone you're better off just doing it yourself
Never, ever, ever, rent UHaul moving blankets to use with your truck. I got a package that was wrapped in plastic so they seemed like they might have been cleaned - WRONG! These blankets stunk like a filthy dog kennel! The smell was so vile it stuck to other things in my truck. It's truly like some dog rescue used them as a bed to transport shelter dogs across the country or something and UHaul just wrapped them in plastic without washing them and gave them to unsuspecting customers to use. Now I'm worried I may have transferred flea eggs to my stuff. GROSS! Why can't anything or anyone be reasonably clean anymore?

Horrible phone customer service. Try to rent a car after hours. She said she done everything go to location and do it on app but actually she didn't do anything. I'm on the phone over 43 mins now and nobody answer the phone even 24/7 service
My neighbor rented a trailer which Luna from the Saco u haul did not attach right. It almost came off in traffick which could of caused an accident which could of hurt many innocent people. I went in a few days after brewing on the incident to see her still working! How can the manager sleep at night knowing they are keeping a possible killer employed?!? I urge anyone with any human decency to do business elsewhere as long as she is allowed to keep her job. This could be your children or parents or neighbors next time.
I trusted Uhaul so I hired Mircle Movers through there website an they demolished my furniture in front of me they was so sloppy unprofessional an I even tried to tell them how to do my furniture to keep it from being damaged an they would'nt listen an I told them this furniture was very special my mother bought me my bedroom suit an kitchen table an chairs an I lost her to cancer so it had centennial value plus it was very expensive. I had a antique ship wheel goes on a table they broke it. It was a nightmare move dont ever use these movers.
I was stranded by I 10,35 miles west of Tallahassee Florida, in 95 degree heat, for 3 plus hours, because uhaul does not have a human being to answer their calls. First call was 38 minutes on hold, before I hung up, second call, 20 minutes, before I hung up... sorry, sorry, sorry customer service... never again, uhaul... Sam Evans
Having a hitch installed at UHaul was a most horrible experience.
First of all, the hitch installation should have taken 1 1/2 hours; it took FOUR HOURS! We sat around with no updates and no Customer Service lounge. And, missed a doctor's appointment.
Back to the actual work.
The rear bumper, which had to be taken off, was scratched in the process.
Next, we ordered a bike rack, which was also a total fiasco.
Because the hitch installation took so long, the "mechanic" had no time to properly install the bike rack. Let alone show us how to use it or even understand how it worked himself.
He wasn't even properly educated on how it worked himself (i. E., he had the "anti-wobbling" strap coming from inside of the car! Instead of from outside; my wife pointed it out to him).
Worst of all, in the midst of all of this confusion and ineptitude, he opened the hatch door of our brand new BMW X3, while the rack was in place, causing TWO dents right in the middle of the door.
To go along with the scratches on the bumper.
I don't know about their actual rental business, although I heard quite a few complaints during my 4+ hour stay in the office, but they should stick to that and avoid promising service on something that they have no right doing.
I filed a claim with their insurance carrier. After 3 weeks I was told that it was "Tied up in Corporate".
I got a call from the Reservation manager telling me that they did not have a trailer for me 1/2 before my reservation. They he has the nerve to tell sorry nothing I can do for you. So I kinda was upset that he would say that. So I told him what do you mean how do you call someone telling them sorry there is nothing you can do 1/2 hour before their reservation. Then my reservation get canceled. Wow I never been treated like this. I have rented U-Haul many times. I have no words from the treatment.
Uhaul is degrading from 10 to 0. Moving to another city, the agent made an appointment for pick-up, the next day when I called only to know the pick-up location and time were totally different from what she told me! And she even did not inform me of the change! I had to change my moving date--imagine all the pain and mess I had to suffer to make this big change! I spent 4 hours on the phone to modify this reservation eventually reached to a manager because the online system did not allow me to modify and no available spots online but I had to move the next day!
The pain was finished yet. When I went to pick up, the staff told me it's not available. Then what's the point of making reservation?! He kept on telling me my old reservation was at another time another location, but I came here for the current new reservation, the old one did not count anymore! Such a pain with such an idiot! He asked me to wait until I got mad on the phone and wanted to complain, he said something's available now. Seriously? Why not available at my reservation time and I had to wait and got mad so to get him to work on that?
Long distance driving is very expensive with Uhaul. I was told there's a flat rate when I made reservation, but when I was billed by kilometres was told there's no flat rate! What horrible and stupid staff Uhaul hires.
It's bloody panic experience with Uhaul. Very low quality service, extremely messy, super low quality staff. Avoid it, save your heart attack, plan your move earlier, borrow vehicles from friends, or rent from other business—now there are many and cheaper!
I picked up uhaul after making reservation online.
Person working basically threw me the keys, 2 other customers behind me in line.
Employee was giving me instructions from behind the counter in mumbled voice, did not go Thur truck ECT for 1 second, if he had I would have showed him how dirty it was under truck seats and behind seats.
I dropped keys on floor of truck and was kind of taken back how dirty it was, did not look like it had been cleaned for some time.
I rented truck for one day, 2 helpers got covid and could not find any moving company or ready laborers to assist.
Uhaul employee called at return time, I just finished loading truck.
Employee asked where truck was several times in panicked voice, told him I just got truck loaded.
He stated He had 2 families in store waiting on truck.
So much for truck getting serviced, cleaned and sounded like exhaust manifold vibrating.
Uhaul is trying to charge me $75 for a truck that was dirty to begin with.
I called uhaul corp, after spending 30 minutes with self automated phone system. I finally got a human who stated (ok) when I said I was still using and needed more time.
I was in another uhaul location a few days later and overheard employee tell customer all trucks were taken and he could not give waiting customer set time for pick up in case existing customer ran over time and WOW. HE STATED TRUCK NEEDED TO BE CLEANED AND SERVICED.
STAY AWAY FROM INTERSTATE UHAUL IN BISMARCK, ND. STORE HAS Employees who seem to not care about much at all.
It is not worth the savings with UHaul because your "reservation" is not really a reservation, and they will give your boxes away, no matter how far in advance you reserve them. I wish I had hired a more expensive competitor.
I used the Ubox service to ship two containers cross country and reserved my boxes three months ahead of time. The traffic control manager gave them away on the morning of the reservation, and I almost missed the window with moving help that I had hired in advance. There was no apology from UHaul, only attitude from the traffic control manager. I managed to hire more emergency help last minute to get boxes from a different location and drove and loaded them myself. Terrible experience right before driving across the country. No one at UHaul ever apologized for the poor service, and they passed off responsibility from one office to the next. They then delivered the boxes a month late with no apology, so we lived in our new house for a month with nothing.
Moving is always stressful, but U-Haul made the experience far worse than it needed to be. I will not be using any of their services again in the future. I recommend Penske or Budget as I've had better experiences with both during past moves. I felt scammed by UHaul at the end of all this.
Okay I made reservations and get a week prior to our departure, I get a call that the trailer is not available any longer and that I need to drive 30 min away to pick one up at another location. What is the point of a reservation if they gave it away AND don't COMPENSATE for THEIR MISTAKE of giving away my reservation.
We used ubox to ship our stuff from NY to AZ. When we setup the NY delivery, we also setup when they would drop our stuff off in AZ, providing an address and everything. We were given a guarantee verbally that our things could be delivered by that date and were informed that uhaul would contact us the day prior to setup a delivery time. They never did, so of course we called them to touch base. We were told that we never setup a delivery drop off and that we would have to wait multiple days until they could drop off our ubox. We asked about other options (renting a truck and picking it up ourselves, etc), but those were unavailable that day. So now we are stranded without any belongings in a completely new state. Do not trust anything they say unless you have a reservation number and written confirmation!
WOW, what a great morning. We are moving in about a month which I have Hired a moving company to do the work but I always rent a trailer to bring the items I don't want to have broken. I made my reservation online which was very user friendly but after I gave them my credit card they stated that the trailer was not available at the facility that I chose. It said that a Haul rep would call me. I waited a week and no call so I called them to find out that I will not ind out where the trailer will be until 24-48 hours before my move. I asked how far away they can go and she stated 100 miles.
So now I have to wait 1-2 days before I move and then drop everything to go up to 100 miles away which translates to 200 miles ( 100 there and 100 back) and I am in the Bay Area which could translate to 6 or 8 hours of drive time the day before my move! Like I have nothing better to do the day before I move! I would take my business elsewhere but unfortunately unless I want a truck nobody rents one way trailers. My only real option is to just go buy a cargo trailer which is just what I may do... Then you try to review them on their own site and magically they can't find the page...
We scheduled a 26ft box truck a week and half before we were going to move. I had over 20 people to help me load 3 storage units and a barn fully of items. We had a reservation and conformation of the rental. BUT, Uhaul did not pass our reservation along to any local dealers that was suppose to reserve the truck. The customer service was the worst and extremely rude right at the beginning of answering the phone. The UHAUL customer service was based out of Indianapolis and said that they will not do anything for us, and the the reservation for the truck is not available. After having to argue with the very rude customer service they then black listed us and said that we will no longer be able to use Uhaul services. I would not recommend using this company ever and would advise everyone to look elsewhere. VERY Rude customer service and did not care how this caused us so much stress and issues for us to move.

Answer: UHAUL IS CHEATING PEOPLE OUT OF THERE MONEY. OVER CHARGES BY CHEATING YOU. There equipment clearly stated rent me $19.99per day. Not $109. Or $126.61. Per day.

Answer: From my experience I've noticed uhaul only allows you to review the pickup and dropped location and generally where I am at least, those folks are great and helpful. The huge conglomerate running the show is at fault but there seems to be no way to easily review them specifically. They screwed me too and I wondered the same. Maybe some folks had a positive experience but I believe you are correct. Negative reviews are definitely being screened out. Sorry you had a crappy move too.
Answer: I did a complaint online and then called but with the same result, they couldn't find me in their system. I need to wait 24 to 72 hours for the manager to investigate.
