Even if you opt for the free version, it will force you to upgrade anyway to file it. It took money from each of my state refunds and federal (NE, NY).
It took over $300 from me! DO NOT USE TURBOTAX!
It is sad. I used to like TurboTax, now I have to find a new service that doesn't steal money from its users.

Every time I try TurboTax, it says it is free and it is never free. I tried using it again and it was supposed to cost $39, then it went to $39 for federal and state. The next day I went back in and it was $130. Sometimes it says there is a $40 fee on top of that to have it direct deposit. They are a joke.

Scammers took a lot for services that I never received. I called min 5 times to find my tax refund no one gave me answers

Be aware that when you file via TT that apparently dependent on what you select to file, i.e. Child tax credit that you'll be automatically moved up to Deluxe level. This occurred unknowingly to me and as such as well as getting a $80 regular filing fee they then will ADD another $40.00 to your filing costs - this is done in a nefarious ruse to where you'll only know about it AFTER you file and then are hit with the extra $40 on top of the $80 - TOTAL RACKET and SCAM - stay away from TT - nightmare.

I just started a small business and new to Turbotax (but have Quickbooks). I selected all the extra pay options for questions and help.

I get to the place where you're supposed to input income and get confused. As if I am supposed to input each type/amount individually (take all day to input all transactions), or input 1099's. I hop on chat expecting to get answers. She stated I need to input 1099's for the income. I tell her the customers are private not business. She doesn't seem to understand this. She then says to call a tax accountant. Really?

Well I'll be calling that tax accountant and they will be doing my taxes. I won't be doing them on Turbotax and wasting time dealing with people who know so little. I'll pay extra for someone to give me real answers and results.

I signed on to start my Turbot tax program and the first thing was that I got a call to review how much it would cost. Have been using TurboTax for several years so I was not surprised that full service would be $400. Big change was filing for two this year. I uploaded all my forms and Michael was very helpful preparing the return. Then (surprise) he informed me that it would cost over $700 to file. He blamed it on the number of 1099's I had and told me that each was $40 more plus more money for the complexity. None of this was told to me when I was given the $400 estimate. Finally got a 20% discount but still outlandish. I will be looking elsewhere in the future. Very unhappy with Turbo Tax.

I would never ever recommend TurboTax to anyone, they were so nice an helpful because they knew they was going to scam me and my whole TAX REFUND. I got told there is nothing they can do but I'll be filling a lawsuit and taking matters in my own hands …. The audacity to make me feel so welcomed as a new customer to TurboTax. Highly disappointed!

Turbo Tax is great for personal taxes, however when you have a business it's not as efficient. I completed my first Turbo Tax with my business including expenses for 2022 and it told me I needed to pay state taxes in a state I completed work for despite I reside in Florida where I only pay federal taxes. I had to pay $40 and download the state tax form from Turbo Tax and I went ahead and paid the taxes. I met with a CPA a few months later and he informed me because I did not live or complete work in that state when I did the work I did not owe that state any taxes. Trying to get the money refunded was nothing but a hassle and the form was so complicated I had to pay the CPA to complete the amended return. Intuit made extra money off of me by telling me I needed to download the state tax form and never asked me if I lived or completed the work in that specific state. As long as I have a business I will be getting my taxes done by a CPA.

TurboTax as advertising free taxes done for simple tax forms well I received emails last year I remember about getting paid back for the money I had spent processing my tax returns through TurboTax never received or anything else from them and then this year while I'm filing they want to charge me over 200 to do simple tax returns false advertisement it is best and they should not be able to do this like this is $#*!ed up and if they are able to come up with all these processing fees just to take your money from you and they have been over charging, according to the lawsuit, in which I never received my little chang! They are the biggest scam going, and I want my money back Turbo Tax!

I had TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE with the TURBOTAX's Software and Customer Service!
After, spending my time explaining to the customer service on the phone about My Situation and Requesting to speak to a Manager, being Hung UP On is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. It's INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING to DEAL with SUCH DISRESPECT, ESPECIALLY when you're already facing Financial Hardship!. It SEEMS LIKE the COMPANY'S LACK of EMPATHY and PROFESSIONALISM has only added to your Burdens. The REQUEST for MONEY for NO REASON, ESPECIALLY GIVEN your LOW INCOME and Unemployment status, is SIMPLY UNFAIR and UNREASONABLE.
I spent the time and enter carefully and correct all the information and only being stuck just before submitting my taxes by the payment page! And of course you have to claim medical expenses, especially considering VERY EXPENSIVE cost of Dental Care
Dealings like this Can Make and ALREADY STRESSFUL SITUATION EVEN MORE CHALLENGING.
The CUSTOMER SERVICE is MISLEADING and UNINFORMED! TOTAL WASTING TIME!

I thought they have already took out their fees but took more fees out when I got my return. I am not an happy customer.

After doing taxes through TurboTax, they give you the option instead of depositing your refund into your bank account. They will recommend that you deposit to credit karma, which is a sister company for it. Refund advancement at 0% interest after they approve you and you set up your refund to go through Credit Karma. They then will deny most people this is just a scam to get you to use Credit Karma to spend your refund well they make money every time you swipe your card be aware.

It's a mess and very user Unfriendly. Was fine for 10 years or so. Suggest going

I filled out all the info and tried to file my taxes. It kept getting stuck on Form 1099-B from Coinbase. It asked repeatedly for "Short-Term" or "Long-Term". It took a long time to load, so I looked carefully and gave it an answer the first time, but then it just reloaded the page and made me give the same answer again. I gave it my answer probably at least 2 dozen times, having to wait at least 5 minutes every time for it to load. I logged out and logged back in and tried a new browser. I asked for help, but nobody helped. One guy tried to get me to upgrade my account in order to be able to do a work-around for the bug. The only person who was helpful was the person who at the end told me how to get a refund and delete my records with turbotax. Oh yea, and last year when I filed my taxes, they pulled a new bank account out of nothing to put my refund in, and it took me HOURS of talking to customer service to find out where my money had gone. It was awful. I honestly think filing your taxes manually is easier than using Turbotax.

EDIT: Turbotax has told me that they will not refund me the $223.72 I sent to them, even though their website will not file my refund for me. This is overt theft. I will contact my credit card to ask them to reverse the payment, and I will complain to my local police department TIGTA, TFC, and BBB. Turbotax is a literal criminal organization, taking your money for a service which they do not provide.

Main page says that I can pay once and use for as many businesses as I need. You don't have a choice to download desktop version for mac so they force you to use super expensive online version with "assistance" that you will never use. Total scam. Eventually I wasn't able to transmit my tax returns and even "assistance"
Has no idea what's the problem. Thieves!
