First of all, I used Turbo Tax for 2019 and 2020. The customer support is atrocious when there's a problem. In 2019, after paying nearly $200 to enter information into their form, it was rejected over and over and over with a code saying that the income was incorrect. It wasn't, I entered directly from my tax documents. Then it said the AGI did not match last year's return, again, straight from my 2018 taxes. Finally rejected so many times we were late and had to file an extension. No use because the "tax experts" could not figure out what was going on. Until around October after many calls and emails someone finally let me know that the "codes" for reasons rejected were wrong and the IRS had my husband listed first last year and that is how we needed to file. Then it was too late to efile and I had to print off my return and mail it in. Now 2020, I try again. Triple check all of the data. AGI again. Had to enter 0 because apparently the IRS has still not received my 2019 return and has us as not filed. Turbo tax said, oh, you need to download the software, fix 2019, reprint and mail in again. The download is $100+. In the meantime, enter 0 for AGI. Ok, did that. Rejected again. Said my dependent's socials do not match. Looking straight at the cards Turbo Tax. Sorry you need to download the software and print it and mail it in yourself. But what? I just paid $200 for your expert assistance and this is what I get? Ridiculous!

I've been using TurboTax for my personal taxes since they came out, and I have also filed all of my family & friends personal taxes with them for many years. The last couple of years have been a nightmare, especially this year. I've seen multiple reviews with the same issue I was having when trying to file, once they go back to review your returns, they will make you go back to "correct" deferral that doesn't even exist. It's says the box should be left blank, it already has a zero in it, but when you erase the zero (that you didn't add to begin with) it still doesn't let you proceed, and tells you to mail in a paper return. Not today TurboTax! Not only does their system completely glitch out, but they STILL try every way possible to charge you for a "free" return! You would think they would have learned after the class action settlement last year, but no, money hungry at its finest! I deleted my entire return and switched to Credit Karma, where not only is it 100% FREE, but I also got back $200 more, and they didn't charge me $40 to take my $40 "FREE" return fee out of my refund! I advise anyone who reads this to switch! Leave the headache in 2020, You're welcome!

Waste of time!
February 17, 2021

I spent an hour trying to complete my taxes only for them to make something so easy confusing so that I could pay more. I'd rather gather my documents and go directly to a tax preparer. Cheaper and saves money

I've used TurboTax for seven years now and up until about 3 years ago I've been satisfied but up until then funny things started happening one year I even paid extra for Max benefits and it did not a thing I actually ended up not getting a tax return at all that year and TurboTax did nothing about backing me up or keeping me posted like they said they would and then this year my tax return was rejected six times without good enough reason because when I went to another website specifically the IRS website to file for free it went right through TurboTax also advertises that everything is free and in the beginning and it was but now they find some way to charge you for something and still don't do their job it's been too many problems and I was really about to send in a whole tax return through the mail and wait for God knows how long all because TurboTax can't do its job right there's just several things that displeased me at this point with TurboTax I'm very disappointed because for years I have spoke highly of TurboTax but I do not plan on ever using TurboTax again

Terrible Help service
February 15, 2021

Had my Federal return rejected due to improper EIN. Tried to follow TurboTax instructions to correct the error that I found. Every time I made the correction TT would not save the correction. Result was two more failed attempts to file. On line help was worthless and kept going in circles. Scheduled phone call from tax specialist did not occur. Very frustrating!

Online help is a joke
January 28, 2021

Not sure who the 26K reviewers are but if you go on line to write a review on the turbotax site, you cant even write the review so im guessing its all crap. Purchased an online download, fine you say, except I cant download it because they have an old email and that cant be changed unless I fill out an online request that cant be done because they have MY OLD EMAIL. They have no problem charging my acct, but getting the problem solved in nearly impossible. Ive been at it for 3 hours

I used Turbo Tax a few years back. I input all the information to proccess my taxes. Paid for their services and RECIEVED conformation that my taxes were filed. 6 months later I recieved letters from state and federal that they did not recieve my tax return. I contacted Turbo Tax and first they told me they could not find my returns. I called another dept and a nice lady found it and put me back to customer service. They told me Sorry, but all will will pay is what we charged you for the service. SO I ENDED UP LOSING OVER 600.00 BECAUSE OF THEIR MISTAKE IN INTEREST AND PENALTIES

I'm a retired CPA. I have used TurboTax for 25 years. No Longer! No support form TurboTax. Charged me to file state return. State return was rejected because of signature issue. TurboTax won't let me reopen state return to correct the issue. Contacted their so-called Customer Support, but could not get help with the issue - kept claiming I was using the free version, even though I paid $50.00 for the Deluxe version disc. Wasted an hour trying to get resolved. Tried following their directions to fix this - they didn't work. Their reply was to file manually even though I already PAID to file electronically. This has turned into a SCAM outfit. DON'T BUY THIS CRAP SOFTWARE.

I have been a loyal TurboTax user for years, through data mis-reporting, problems getting the program to load properly and this year, a little bit of dishonesty. I even bought a new Mac computer because TurboTax had cautioned that the next year's program would no longer work with my older Mac. Well, it did not work with the new Mac either. There were the usual hiccups, TurboTax calling up my 2017 tax return for some reason, a problem finding and correcting an entry error that I had made. (I started over) And final straw, the reason that I will never use TurboTax again, is that the promised free e-filing did not work. I learned, after the tedious effort to speak with a rep, is that the program does not work with a new iMac. (The package states that it does, the dishonesty). The "solution", the rep told me was to download Google Chrome and through some effort on her part, the filing could occur. We never got that far, because the Chrome option also DID NOT WORK. I mailing the return.
I resented having to download a Google product that prompted me repeatedly to allow access to area of my computer that had nothing to do with my taxes. This is the Google that collects as much data as possible about everyone. I did not want that. I will never go near TurboTax again. I suggest that others follow my lead.

I have been using Turbo Tax for years with little problem, buying a disk. This year, I purchased the Premier program on line. Some of the questions were not clear, eg "are you disabled?" I am. Later this was interpreted as being on disability, which I am not. There seemed no way to return to the earlier page and correct this, as had been in the past. I am retired, unemployed, but later asked in what province I was employed. Again, no way to go back to find what had prompted the question, and no way to go on until the faulty question was answered. When I tried to send in the return, it refused to send on the basis of an error that did not apply. So I printed and tried to do my wife's return. It seems I must have missed an earlier question as to whether I wanted to file a joint return, so I decided, as time was short, to just go ahead and do a separate one. The price of the return had gone up to $90 for some reason. Entering her information, the program for some reason called her "James", my name. There was no way to change this and no option given for customer support. So I gave up and have received an e-mail asking why I had not filed, no reply possible (I did anyway). What has changed in a formerly good company?

Turbo tax offered a free account to file your taxes but then they said their was errors and they fixed the errors after several clicks and sent a verification that all errors was fixed and that my taxes was filed. Then I said great and I threw away my w2s thinking I don't need them anymore since they fixed all errors and my taxes was filed. Then about two weeks later after nothing in the mail and nothing on the stupid turbo card sent. I confirmed with turbo to find out what happen and then found out that their apparently was more errors and I needed to pay $120.00 to fix errors. So thanks to them I can't file my taxes this year because I threw away already the w2s thinking they filed my taxes. I do believe they was hoping for this to happen and I bet I'm not the only one.
THANK YOU CON ARTIST TURBO TAXES!

5 years in the row and this is my last time using their services. I could have gotten the same services for...$17. They charged me $90+ for a basic job. Now, it's a trouble with the stimulus check that we can't get because "we" filed our taxes with this company. Lame.

Turbo tax sucks
April 19, 2020

I filed my taxes on March 1 thru turbo tax. It's now the end of April and I haven't seen my tax money yet. You call and get know where with the representative, they couldn't even get a supervisor. It took 30 minutes to get a supervisor. The supervisor gives you the run around for 20 more minutes. All said and done. Turbo tax is sending a refund for there CD I bought to try to file my taxes. Worst tax company EVER. Don't anyone use these $#*!ty products. And for supervisor they also need more TRAINING IN TAX PREP.

"Free to File"
February 24, 2020

This was a peeve of mine becasue I normally read fine print, but I gave TurboTax the benefit of doubt since most people use it. When it said "free to file", I jumped in and realize it's not free. It's free to go through all the forms, but it's not free to get your tax return. If you have a W-2 for a job for a few months, then get laid off and use unemployment, there's an extra charge. They also don't point out that it costs $40 to file state and $40 to file federal. They also don't tell you that you're charged extra if you have a 1099 form instead of W-2. The whole thing is very misleading! I was embarrassed I even suggested to it to my relatives and told them it'd be free without first trying it out myself.

You're better off paying a real person $100 to do all your taxes so at least you could hire someone who knows what they're doing. The would say the only pro about TurboTax is that it's fast to sign, very intuitive, straightforward modern UI, and has plenty of info for people who are new. They also give good examples when you hit "learn more" or if you need help understanding something. If you're lazy and need a quick fix and don't mind the extra $80-120, go for it. But it's unfortunate for people who are already making very little ($35k-50k).

I had been using TurboTax for years. The price kept going up each year, but I still thought it was worth it. This year, I had an easy return and thought it would be free. They charged me about 25% more than last time! Deceptive and greedy. Intuit is taking money from poor people who are just trying to get their own money back from the government. TurboTax shouldn't be in business.

They say that you only need to pay $40 for the deluxe version of their tax program, but they don't tell you until the very end, after you've already signed everything, that they also charged $40 to process your Federal return and another $40 to file your State return on top of the $40 that you already promised for using the Deluxe version. So they deducted $120.00 from my return and didn't tell me until I'd already signed. RIPOFF! DO NOT USE THEM!
