Travelocity Reviews Summary

Travelocity's reputation is predominantly marred by negative customer experiences, particularly concerning their customer service and refund policies. Many customers express frustration over poor communication, lack of support, and difficulties in obtaining refunds for canceled bookings. Complaints often highlight unexpected fees, miscommunication regarding rental agreements, and unfulfilled service promises. While a few reviews mention competitive pricing, the overwhelming sentiment suggests that the potential savings are overshadowed by the company's perceived dishonesty and inadequate service. My mother and niece went to GS Solaris for 5 days. The family is a member of that resort. As soon as they arrived they were treated so badly and unfairly by Fernando, David and Dave Martinez. They were very unprofessional to them and rude. The food was horrible and so was the staff. They were suppose to go to the gala diner but they refuse to let them in for no reason. But another guy came and didn't have reservations and they got him in. It was a horrible experience they had and I can assure you this is NOT a place you want to go and spend a relaxing and fun vacation because this place is a NIGHTMARE

Attempted to Book Flight & Accomadation Package. Upon Confirming Booking a Red Alert Displayed saying 'Card Details Incorrect' Checked to confirm my bank balance and 2x Authorisations had been deducted amounting to ~$1500. Package cost was ~$1200.
NO Receipt, Booking Confirmation or Itinerary was ever sent to my email. My Travelocity Account displayed 'No Planned Trips. To request cancellation and refund Customer Support requires itinerary number (which I never received! Many hours, web searches later I found cancellation contact emails for Travelocity. Contacted my bank to dispute and have authorisations cancelled/refunded. Day later I received an email from Travelocity to say my booking had been already cancelled and authorisation would be cancelled in ~7days or to contact them again. I now need a holiday to get over booking a holiday with Travelocity.

Dear Travelocity,

I don't trust your company, period. You have violated my trust at the most severe level. Best of luck going forward without me.

When I booked for a rental car thru Travelocity.com, they did not mention that the car rental company in question, (most major car rental companies in Illinois) require a valid CREDIT CARD issued by a major US Bank in order to rent a car anywhere other than at the airport car rentals (even at the airport, one needs a return ticket to book cars using a debit card instead of a credit card). This information was concealed or overlooked when I booked at car at Travelocity.com and they gave me price and charged me $70 for car insurance for a weeks worth of car rental. On my visit to the local car rental (National car rental) to pick up the rental car, they refused to honor the reservation / booking made with Travelocity and refused to rent a car using my debit card instead of a credit card.

Travelocity would not take any responsibility for National car rental's refusal to rent me a car without a valid credit card and rejected my Debit card for payment.

When is it the responsibility of Travelocity to get you to the hotel booked.

Could not get to Greece island of Santorini as ferry transport does not operate in time to get to Hotel on the evening booked. Travelocity excepts booking to Crete(Herkalion)then says swim across the sea to get to get to your hotel as there is no other way to get there for the hotel booking so shorten your stay two nights and book another hotel 2 nights and transport costs then try a week to get some sort of accountability from Travelocity and it is a stall tactic to speak to a supervisor and then to be greeted by a robot with no intention to assist, a totally deplorable business practice.

This may be a long winded message, but bare with me... I will provide a good piece of advice at the end to make sure this does not happen to you. I purchased motel lodging from travelocity.com, and was promised a certain rate... including all taxes and fees. When I went to hit the submit order button, my card was automatically charged a rate significantly higher than the agreed on price. I called their customer service department, and waited patiently after I was put on hold after hold, finally was able to speak for a moment to a sales associate who could do nothing to get my money back... The best part was that the associate said they have a system in place... this is the best part... whereby the price you click on, may not be the price you actually get. In those milliseconds from the mouse click to where the order is confirmed, the price can change. Now, there is no mention of this fact on their website. It is FALSE ADVERTISING. They offered me a $50 voucher for future purchases, I declined. I wanted my money back, plain and simple. The sales associate said they would have a department look into the matter and if they were in the wrong, they would refund my money.

Several days later, I spoke with another associate in customer service. I went through all of the details of what had occured, and didn't get anywhere with the situation. I asked to speak to a supervisor and after wasting more and more of my precious time, was finally transferred to a corporate associate. This lady said they would review all the info online
To confirm what price I had actually confirmed at. Finally the corporate associate came back on the line and said "so you confirmed at such and such price", which was the inflated price of which they had actually charged me. To which I responded "No I did not". The corporate associate continued to say the same thing over and over again ad nauseam, trying to get me to say yes to her answer. I then became silent and so did she.
After wasting another hour of my time, on top of the other hour plus I had wasted from days before, I was ready to end the conversation. I said I would take it up with my bank, and now am going through that process. MY ADVICE-screen shot the web page with all the details about the transaction, where it lists the final price, including taxes and fees. That way if you click submit and are charged a correspondingly higher amount(as happened to me) you will have a record of it. I will never use Travelocity again.

Don't use it!
September 18, 2019

I purchased two tickets to Barcelona. I was informed by Travelocity in an email that my ticket was canceled. Weirdly, only my ticket, not my partner's. The email went on to offer me two options to change my outgoing flight. It made no mention of my return flight. I called and spoke to an agent who said I was able (and therefore my partner was also) to cancel our reservations since the new outgoing flight options changed our wait time in Dublin from 2 hours to 12. I said I wanted to discuss with my partner. I called back and stated we wanted to cancel both reservations. After a wait of 40 minutes I was told my reservation was canceled but my partner's was not because the problem was with my return flight! (my return was different than my partner's. This was not mentioned in the email I received. Their resolution was my partner would keep the same reservation and I could make a new one. There was no concern that this would cost me more since I was booking later. While on hold I visited the site of the airline providing the service and found shorter and less expensive options. You are not getting the best deal you can find through Travelocity. A little extra time on the internet to visit airline sites will find better deals. Expedia owns Travelocity, Orbitz, CheapTickets, Hotwire and eBookers. I suggest you stay away from all of them.

Three major issues with my trip:

(1) I selected the Collision Damage Waiver, thinking that it was the protection that you purchase directly from the car rental agency. In other words, if something happened, I just hand my keys over and breeze out. No where in the booking material or in the itinerary did it make clear that I was purchasing the insurance through Travelocity (AIG) and not through the rental agency. Someone hit my parked car while we were in Disney.
Instead of simply handing the car over, as I thought I would be doing, I had to spend 20 minutes filling out an incident report and pay $500 on my credit card. I now need to go through AIG to get reimbursed, which is taking even more time. The misleading advertising earned Travelocity money but left me with a headache. I went back and double checked - even if I had read ALL of the fine print, this is not information that is provided. BEWARE.
(2) The website stated that the car rental was at "MCO." It wasn't - it was an off-site rental agency that required a 15 minute shuttle bus after the long wait for the shuttle bus to even arrive. If Travelocity's site had been accurate, I would have rented from one of the numerous rental car agencies that actually are on site and saved over an hour of my time. I went back and double checked. Travelocity states that this is at MCO, not off-site. It was not an oversight or me failing to read the fine print. BEWARE.
(3) Travelocity booked my car twice, and the rental agency charged me for two car rentals. Fortunately, the rental agency manager "overrode" their rule that you can't cancel, and canceled the second rental, but it is going to take 7-10 days to get the charge off my credit card. BEWARE.

I have booked my vacations in the past with Travelocity, and the experience was fair. After this last experience I will never use their booking services again. I recently booked a vacation package to Cartagena, Colombia which included flights+hotel accommodations, and a rental car. The trip is still a month away and I am already having issues with their lack of customer service. This does not give me a feeling of comfort in how this vacation will go. I booked a room with two queen beds for 2 guests and they have it listed as 1 guest. When I requested they make the changes, they told me it will cost an additional $177.00 USD per night for the second guest to share my room. I brought it to their attention that their website clearly states the "Base Rate Per Room Includes 2 Guests". Now they do not want to honor this price and want me to pay an additional $708.00 for the 4 night stay. Please be forewarned they do not honor what they advertise and will try and up-charge and overcharge for everything. Definitely shop elsewhere for a cheaper, stress-free vacation experience. I may update this review if the trip turns out better than the initial booking experience.

Recently I made a reservation through Travelocity and I WILL NEVER BOOK THROUGH THEM AGAIN. I don't want to vent out or sound like an evil person but please read between the lines and through the very fine prints before you commit to spend thousands of dollars like we did. If the Travelocity website is showing limitations to your flights or reservations I suggest you visit the airline's website before you commit because once is done its done and You will not be able to make any changes at all. Not even Upgrades or even select your own seats.

Travelocity double-booked me on my flight and charged me for 2 tickets. Thanks to their 24-hour policy, by the time I noticed the mistake, it was too late. They refused to refund me, even though it was their mistake. Obviously, I did not want two tickets for identical passengers. That is ludicrous. But Travelocity doesn't care. It was over 24 hours later, so no refund for me.

TRAVELOCITY.COM IS A FRAUDULENT COMPANY
Travelocity's Philippines based Customer Desk misspelled my first name (he missed the letter "e" in Gregory). In the post 9/11 world, this means that you will be denied boarding the transatlantic flight. Over the next 3 days, I spent a total of 18 hours trying to impress on them that since they took my money it is their responsibility to call the airline and fix it.
They told me that this is how I spelled my name to them (Could you believe it!) and just walked away from me. Incidentally, I am convinced that they routinely make people wait for long hours on the phone hoping that a disgruntled customer would get discouraged and would just walk away.
Having read all the complaints about Travelocity, it seems to be pointless registering another complaint. However, let me say it just for the record: THIS IS A FRAUDULENT COMPANY.

Beware of Travelocity
November 24, 2018

We missed a first flight in Acapulco. We got to Mexico city in time for our connecting flight by taking a bus. Travelocity canceled our tickets! We had to purchase new tickets in Mexico. Travelocity pocketed our ticket money with no refunds.
NEVER USE TRAVELOCITY.
Just a large corporation that could care less about their customers.
Another couple was purchasing their new tickets beside us for the same reason!
Travelocity makes a heafty profit out of fleecing customers. It's their policy.

Terrible Company
November 16, 2018

We booked a condo in Taos, NM for a ski vacation in JULY 2018. In NOVEMBER 2018, Travelocity called and told us that the condo that we booked had closed down for good. We later received a phone call from the general manager of the condo stating that they had NOT closed down. We found out that Travelocity did not send them our booking until November, at which time they were fully booked. The manager stated that this type of thing happens on a regular basis with Travelocity. He called all of the other condos on the mountain to attempt to find us another booking, but since it was one month before peak season at this point, he could not find us anything else and we had to cancel our ski trip.

Disappointed
September 20, 2018

While I had no trouble with using the website, I am disappointed that Travelocity would partner with Economy Car Rental. Also, once you prepay, you can't get out of the rental. Next time, I will call car rental places myself. Not ever using a third party again!

Never use travelocity
August 16, 2018

We booked a room at the all seasons resort in yarmouth ma. We were given a price after our filter of our specified dates and a party of 4 adults. When at the hotel I found out they were charging us 120.00 extra because of 4 adults. No where did it state the occupancy is for 2 adults and 2 children. It says 4 for occupancy. When I called Travelocity the only thing they would say after keeping me on hold for over an hour is their scripted " I understand and I do apologize, but..." they are just as useless and slimy as the hotel is, and by the way the hotel smelled awful, their indoor pool was disgusting along with there bedding. I am not sure they washed there comforters since they purchased them. I will never ever ever use another online travel site or an all seasons resort. Both are terrible companies that I will never use or refer to others

My destination plans were recently canceled due to natural disasters in California. The conditions are considered very hazardous due to multiple fires in California at this time. Travelocity was not accommodating at all. The other people in my party received credit for future travels with other airlines. Travelocity is the only agency that did nothing. I will not use them again.

Terrible experience. I booked a flight for my partner from Atlanta to London. Paid for a premium economy ticket. He wanted to change his return flight so i called Travelocity to make the change. The first agent I spoke to didn't understand the simple concept of a day change and asked me if I would consider another airline. I told him no I simply wanted to change the existing ticket I had already purchased. He told me he would have to refer me to his supervisor. 40 minutes on hold later and I got through to a supervisor who changed the flight. Only problem - he downgraded my partner to an economy ticket erroneously. I only found out when I went to the airline website and saw his seat in economy. Their Itinerary still said premium economy. Imagine if he had gone to the airport and been told there? Awful. I called Travelocity again. Once again had to wait 30 minutes for a supervisor to deal with me. He acknowledged that the change was their error but I had to call back when corporate was open to make the change back without it costing me. I have now called back for a 3rd time and have been sitting on hold for 62 minutes and counting without anyone actually being able to connect to a supervisor. DISGUSTING that I have to be inconvenienced this way to fix something that was THEIR error. I will NEVER use this company again and would advise any one else to avoid like the plague. The few dollars you save on the flight is not worth the hassle. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Cannot express how strongly you should avoid.
