Horrible service
December 7, 2021

If any support is needed, they are totally unreachable. First of all there are NO email addresses to contact them and NONE of the phone numbers they provide actually work. I know that sounds incredible, feel free to try it. NONE of them work.

No customer service
December 7, 2021

I have been trying to reach them to cancel my account and all the numbers listed do not answer at all just ring and disconnect. Save yourself hundreds of dollars and don't sign up at all.

HORRIBLE!
November 29, 2021

If you want to cancel, there is NO-ONE to talk too, no option to get help, repeated recordings with limited selections, then they hang up on you. If I EVER get out of this, I'll never go business with them! Just taking my money with no cancel options. If I could only do less than 1 star... Read others reviews... NO customer service!

DO NOT
November 16, 2021

There are no perks offered from this site that a standard credit card agency doesn't already provide through an app. I canceled my membership the day I subscribed to this website, and have been charged for access to this site for nearly two years? How is that possible?——- I wondered myself and called an agent that came recommended from their website and she told me I'd still owe $500……to a subscription that was inaccessible. This is actually a site that violates legal terms and violations. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS WEBSITE IN THE FIRST PLACE…. ESPECIALLY AFTER DEALING WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE. Save your time, money, and mental health because holy f***, no one on this agency will help your finances in any capacity, they'll just take whatever finances you have and run. Unethical. Disgraceful. Unamerican. This company is generally a shame. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING

In my experience with this company, they will decrease your credit score quickly with usage by larger point swings than if a payoff occurs. They are very slow to report the payoff and the increase in your score is typically less than half of the decrease in points for usage for the same amount. Ive also had a decrease in my score for a large payoff amount. This is by far a credit reporting agency working hard to keep consumers paying higher rates than they deserve.

Credit Dispute - Fraud
October 5, 2021

Before Reading this Review - do some research on Google to view the recent Court case Ramirez vs TransUnion and another case in 2005 in regards to the thousands of people that TransUnion has falsely flagged as Terrorists and Drug Lords and then reported that LIE in their credit files just because their name was "similar" to a possible Terrorist on the OFAC list. Then proceeded to hide it from the customers when they asked to see their own credit report. It's disturbing what this joke of a company gets away with. As for my personal issue - If you file a dispute on your credit report using their website, they will NOT actually investigate. Within 12 hours of my dispute, they simply marked the account "Valid" while the other credit report companies actually took a week to investigate and overturn the false report. This is the absolute worst company who will report your FICO score anywhere from 50 to 100 points LOWER than the other 2 reporting agencies. Some advice - the next time you apply for a loan or a new credit card, ensure that the company does NOT use Transunion during their credit check and you will have an approval for sure. Simply research which companies use Equifax and Experian before applying. Transunion needs to be put out of business or many more lawsuits need to occur to get that "so-called" company in line.

I'll try to control myself. It's hard to measure incompetence at the level that TransUnion shows. It's very difficult to reach a human being these days. They take you down the response bot tree, or they invite you to visit them on the web, because you are too lazy for self-service.

Press 0 to speak to a human is a thing of the past. When they disabled that, they cut their call center staff by 90%. But what if you have a problem that you know requires a human to respond to. There are actions that you may need that a bot is not authorized to do.

When I reached a human, I explained what I needed. It didn't fit her script. But before I finished the sentence she had put a fraud alert on my account, and that was an incorrect solution. I tried again. When the human said for the fourth time "... As I told you before sir… ", I ended that call the quick way by pressing a red button on my mobile device. I don't want to be patronized when I'm trying to get help.

You can't escape these guys, yet they have a staggering amount of control over your financial well-being.

Here's a tip, humans are not allowed to hang up on you (bots can). If you ask for a supervisor because you are dissatisfied, they won't give you to one. But if you ask for one because you are satisfied, you'll go right through. "Sorry I had to do this, but…" and state your case.

Finally, if you're fortunate enough to speak with a competent CSR, give them a little love: a gushy servey response, or better, talk to their manager and say they were good. They can get their name up on the big board for everyone to see, or get employee of the month, stuff like that. $$ to them.

Worthless
July 29, 2021

This is the most worthless credit reporting bureau of the three. You can spend hours trying to get into their site and then can't get your free report. If you finally do get a report they tell you, your score is not available. They should not even have one star.

The government should step in and do something about this.

Avoid!
July 13, 2021

Off shore call center - reps speak English with a very heavy native tongue accent which makes it very difficult to understand them.
Online dispute feature failed for me - called the supplied number for disputes and was told I had to fax or mail the info to them! Really?! Fax or snail-mail only in 2021?
You get lured by a free report however the their service is subscription based ~$20/month and there is no method to cancel online / while logged in! That is very suspicious. It appears they are purposely hiding that feature to retain unknowing customers.

Absurd Algorithms
June 26, 2021

In 2016, I was nearly forced into bankruptcy due to a couple projects that went south. With my credit in the toilet, I began rebuilding. A couple years ago I obtained a new credit card with a low credit line ($1700) to help the process along. Last month I traveled and used my card for gas, hotels, etc - planning to pay it off clean at the next billing cycle (been doing this regularly).
Trans Union decided to dink my score 40 points BETWEEN billing cycles (literally less than 5 days after I reached 80% useage.
I find this absurd. And I don't need a lecture in how their algorithms work - I know how they work. I'm 55. I used card for 20+ yeRs for business - often racking up $10,000 - $15,000 bills on an AmEx between cycles, only to pay it clean within a month or two.
Their algorithms do NOT take in a full or fair picture.
And as I mentioned, anyone responding to this with a "yeah, but" need not bother. One size never fits all - ever - with anything. I'm weary of this nonsensical system we are all slaves to.

I've maintained an account with TransUnion for many years (along with the other two credit reporting agencies) for purposes of maintaining a credit freeze on my account. Today I logged on to do a temporary lift, a routine process. During login, 2FA sent a code to my e-mail, but I delayed in getting back to the web to enter the code. Due to the delay (I presume), it "temporarily suspended my account". I called to resolve, and after talking to several reps, including a supervisor, was forced to just give up without resolution. They insisted that I didn't have an account, despite that "my account was suspended". The supervisor was impatient, rude, and condescending. I am not sure if TransUnion outsources support, but I can be sure that the organization does not value customer experience. Zero stars.

Beyond Scam
June 13, 2021

Have an excellent credit score. Had a loan with Toyota Financial. Never late and never missed a payment. Payed off loan early to avoid paying additional interest. Check credit score down -10 points. Dispute with TransUnion and informed to them it is viewed as a closed account. This was not a credit consolidation it was a settled account and ended by Toyota because account was satisfied in full. Protested it and was told they still view it as a closed account and won't do anything about lowering my score.
Let me be clear Payed On Time Never Missed A Payment And Payed Loan Off Early.
The same company that stresses the importance of good credit and wants to charge a fee to monitor it can legally lower your score even though you have done everything in accordance with your loan agreement.
Think About That.

BE WARNED automatically Signs you up for $25 subscription/month hidden within a $1 credit check. This is not mentioned notably in any part of the credit check but is at te very bottom of one of the 1000x emails you get here on after doing the credit check. Only caught this after 4 months of payment.

Ever since i got a car, paid off a huge old debt, and got a credit card, my score has gone down. Never late on any payments ever and they drop my score by 40 points bc im using a bigger % of my $360 dollar limit (SECURED!)credit card. Like, are you kidding me!?!?!? You want me to calculate and make sure i get my limit up to 10% or something!?!? So i need to buy juuuuuust enough stuff to get my balance up to 36? I can not believe this bologna. Not to mentioning why it did not even move after i got a car loan, made every single payment on time, then settled a $2k debt. The past 3 years I have been doing everything perfectly and my score has only ever gone down. Completely ridiculous

The incompetence is really scary. I have a credit freeze with them and the other credit bureaus, and I was trying to lift the freeze for just 48 hours while applying for something. Well, something simple quickly turns into a project...

1. Their online website based system has not been accessible for two days now. You just get an error message.
2. The automated phone system version doesn't work either. You get an error there as well, after spending time putting in all your information.
3. The last resort is to call an agent and do it manually with them. But then the PIN they sent you doesn't work either, so now the agent has to take you through all these security questions from your credit report, and it takes forever. And one of the reasons it takes forever is that when you call, you get someone in the Philippines or something, and they are hard to understand. So, this US based company, handling the highly sensitive information, outsources their call center work to to foreigners, in another country... huh? That's who you give your social security number to, and your address, etc. Very confidence inspiring indeed...
What a $#*!ty company. I can't believe this can happen in today's world. But it's only because they don't have to answer to anyone. Customer service is an unknown concept to them.

I wanted to order a credit report, not a recurring subscription.
I used their service 3 years ago, and only today I'm realising they stole hundreds of dollars from me, because they continued to charge me $20 each month for a service I wasn't using, and didn't realise was recurring.
Usually when I order documentation online, it doesn't come with a recurring fee.

I guess the lesson here is... No matter how reputable the company, don't give them your credit info unless you're receiving a physical product.

Poor Customer Service
December 10, 2020

TransUnion refuses to remove an unauthorized hard inquiry on my credit report. I was a victim of identity theft in Jan 2020, and Wells Fargo contacted all of the credit bureaus to remove the account and change the inquiry from "hard" to "soft". Every credit bureau EXCEPT Transunion has already fixed the issue months ago. There is no reason Transunion cannot complete a simple request in almost a year's time.

I called Transunion today (12/9/2020@ 7:35 AM PST) and spoke to three reps on the phone (*******604) who kept saying the next person would remove my inquiry. However, the last female "supervisor" at 7:50 AM refused to remove it and told me good luck... I wish I had written down her name to file a complaint with Transunion because she was really rude, unhelpful, and unknowledgeable about the whole process of removing an unauthorized inquiry. The first two reps sounded like workers outsourced in India, and the last woman sounded like an actual person in the US. Everyone just asked the same dumb questions over and over without doing anything to help.

Note: I have also filed a complaint with Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to make sure the government is aware of Transunion's fraudulent consumer practices. I suggest doing this if you want to escalate your problem and get proper resolution.

Misleading Score
October 22, 2020

Misleading. Missing Chase/Citibank cards, they do not report to Transunion. Affects both ways: you can default but because it is not reported whoever inquires is not getting the full picture. Or the person gets lower score because it doesn't show enough credit cards or long tenure ones. Either way a flaw on Transunion's reports.
